15 Christian Podcasts to Help You Grow When You Can’t Make It to Church

Life doesn’t always follow a 9-to-5 schedule, and it certainly doesn’t always pause for Sunday mornings.

Maybe you’re working the late shift, caring for a family member at home, or living in a place where attending a physical church isn't an option right now. Whatever your situation is, your spiritual growth shouldn't have to hit a plateau just because you can't walk through the front doors of a building.

At Boundless Online Church, we believe the Word of God transforms hearts wherever it is heard. We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online, and one of the best ways to do that in the "in-between" moments of life is through podcasts.

But the digital world can be noisy. Finding safe, biblically sound, and Protestant-focused teaching can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Here is a curated list of 15 podcasts to help you stay anchored in the Truth, no matter where you are.

The Power of the Word in Your Ears

Listening to the Bible and biblical teaching isn't just a way to pass the time during a commute or while doing laundry. It’s a way to saturate your mind with the things of God.

The Bible tells us that "faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ" (Romans 10:17). When you can't sit in a pew, these digital resources act as a lifeline, keeping your heart aligned with the Gospel.

1. BibleProject

If you want to understand how the entire Bible points to Jesus, this is your starting point. The BibleProject podcast dives deep into the themes and structures of Scripture. It’s intellectually stimulating but incredibly accessible. They break down complex theological concepts into a language that feels like a conversation between friends.

2. The Bible Recap

Have you ever tried to read the Bible in a year and quit by Leviticus? Tara-Leigh Cobble is here to help. Each day, she provides a short (8–10 minute) summary of the day’s chronological Bible reading. It’s perfect for those who want to understand the "God Shot", where we see God’s character in the text, without feeling overwhelmed.

3. WHOA That’s Good

Hosted by Sadie Robertson Huff, this podcast is like sitting down for coffee with someone who truly cares about your soul. It features conversations with authors, athletes, and Christian leaders about the best piece of advice they’ve ever received. It’s encouraging, youthful, and deeply rooted in a love for Jesus.

4. That Sounds Fun

Annie F. Downs has a gift for making you feel welcome. While the title suggests "fun," Annie isn't afraid to go deep. She interviews a wide range of guests, focusing on how to live a life that honors God while embracing the joy of the journey. It’s a great companion for those who feel a bit isolated and need a friendly voice.

5. She Reads Truth / He Reads Truth

These are two separate podcasts (but from the same ministry) that focus on one thing: "Women/Men in the Word of God every day." They walk through specific books of the Bible or seasonal themes, providing context and encouragement to keep you reading your physical Bible alongside the audio.

6. Gospel in Life

The late Timothy Keller’s teachings continue to be a foundational resource for believers. This podcast features his sermons, which are famous for their intellectual depth and their ability to apply the Gospel to the modern, everyday heart. If you are a skeptic or a long-time believer asking "why," this is for you.

7. Verity with Phylicia Masonheimer

Do you want to know why you believe what you believe? Phylicia focuses on "everyday theology." She tackles tough topics: from church history to dating to doctrine: with a firm grasp on Scripture and a casual, no-nonsense tone. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to move beyond "milk" and start eating "solid food" (Hebrews 5:12).

8. The Briefing

For the shift worker or the person trying to navigate a confusing world, Albert Mohler provides a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview. It helps you think biblically about what’s happening in the headlines, ensuring your perspective is shaped by the Eternal rather than the temporary.

9. Renewing Your Mind

This is the daily broadcast of Ligonier Ministries. It’s dedicated to helping Christians know what they believe, why they believe it, how to live it, and how to share it. If you miss the depth of a traditional Sunday school class, R.C. Sproul’s teaching series will fill that gap beautifully.

10. Look at the Book

This is a unique, short-form "visual" podcast (though the audio works just as well). John Piper literally "circles" words in the text of Scripture to show you how the logic of the Bible works. It’s a masterclass in how to study the Word for yourself.

11. Focus on the Family

For parents and married couples who can't make it to church, the daily Focus on the Family broadcast offers practical, biblically-based advice. They cover everything from raising toddlers to navigating difficult seasons in marriage, all centered on the grace of Christ.

12. The Alisa Childers Podcast

In an age of "progressive" ideas, Alisa Childers helps believers navigate the cultural shift toward "deconstruction." She provides clear, researched answers to common objections to the Christian faith, helping you stand firm on the authority of the Word.

13. 30 Minutes with the Perrys

Preston Perry and Jackie Hill Perry bring a raw, honest, and Gospel-centered perspective to everything they discuss. From holiness to hip-hop to heavy theological questions, their chemistry and commitment to the Truth make this an essential listen for the modern believer.

14. The Pour Over

If you want to stay informed about the world but find the regular news leaves you feeling anxious or angry, The Pour Over is a "neutral" news source that anchors every headline in a Gospel perspective. It’s short, safe, and keeps your heart focused on Christ even when the world is chaotic.

15. Sunday Live Worship at Boundless

While not a traditional "podcast," we would love for you to join our community directly. If you can't make it to a physical building, you can experience a full service, including worship and a message, through our Sunday Live Worship page. It’s a way to feel connected to a global body of believers in real-time or on-demand.

Tech Safety: Protecting Your Ear-Gate

While podcasts are a blessing, we always want to remind our community to practice digital safety.

When choosing platforms:

  • Stick to the big names: Apps like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music have built-in safety features and parental controls.

  • Avoid "Negative Noise": The algorithm will often suggest content that is controversial just to get a "click." If a podcast leaves you feeling more angry at people than in love with Jesus, it might be time to hit "unfollow."

  • Focus on the Word: The best podcasts are the ones that lead you back to your Bible, not away from it.

For Those Who Feel Disconnected

We know that for many of you: especially those in persecuted areas, those with disabilities, or those working exhausting hours: the feeling of isolation is real. You aren't just "watching a video" or "listening to a file." You are part of the Body of Christ.

If you’re looking for a way to get more involved beyond just listening, check out our groups or see how to get plugged in fast. We want to help you find a community that understands your schedule and your heart.

Remember, the Word of God is not bound (2 Timothy 2:9). It can reach you in a hospital room, a breakroom, or a quiet library.

Keep listening. Keep growing. Keep looking to Jesus.
