Have you ever walked into a church or scrolled through a ministry website and wondered, "What do these people actually believe?" I get it. Theology can sometimes feel like a dusty old textbook hidden in a basement, but at its heart, it is just the story of God’s love for us. Here at Boundless Online Church, we want to make sure the "why" behind our faith is clear, accessible, and filled with grace.
Whether you are joining us from wherever you are in the world, understanding the foundations of our faith helps us grow closer to the Heart that created us. Today, I want to walk you through what we call the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God. These aren't just rules; they are the anchors that keep our ship steady in a chaotic world. If you’ve been looking for a 16 Fundamental Truths Bible Study that keeps things simple yet deep, you’re in the right place.
Question: What are the core beliefs that define the Assemblies of God, and how do they impact my daily spiritual life?
Answer: The 16 Fundamental Truths are a set of non-negotiable tenets that ground our understanding of God, salvation, and the future. They emphasize that the Bible is our ultimate authority and that Jesus Christ is the only way to a restored relationship with God. From the power of the Holy Spirit to the promise of physical healing, these truths provide a framework for living a life of purpose and hope.
Value: By exploring these truths, you gain a clearer picture of God’s character and His plan for humanity. This isn't just about head knowledge; it’s about heart transformation. At Boundless, we believe the Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails that keep us moving toward the heart of Jesus without getting lost in the weeds of modern confusion.
The Four Cardinal Doctrines
Before we dive into all sixteen, it’s helpful to know that four of these are considered "cardinal" or central to the Assemblies of God and the global movement. They are: Salvation, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Divine Healing, and the Second Coming of Christ. Everything else flows out of these powerful experiences of God’s grace.

1. The Scriptures Inspired
I believe the Bible is God’s personal letter to us. It isn’t just a collection of nice stories or ancient history. It is inspired by the Holy Spirit and serves as the final authority for how we live and what we believe. When life gets loud and confusing, I turn back to the Word to find the truth that doesn't change.
2. The One True God
We believe in one God who has revealed Himself as the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. Think of it as one Being in three Persons. It’s a beautiful mystery of relationship. God isn't a distant force; He is a personal, loving Father who wants to be known by you.
3. The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus isn't just a "good teacher" or a "prophet." He is fully God and fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, and that He died on a cross to pay for our mistakes. Most importantly, He rose again and is alive today! Because He is God, He has the power to change your life right now.
4. The Fall of Man
We have to be honest: the world is broken, and so are we. Humanity was created good, but we chose to go our own way. This "fall" is why we experience pain, selfishness, and separation from God. Recognizing this isn't about shame; it’s about realizing we need a Savior.
5. The Salvation of Man
This is the big one. There is only one way to be made right with God, and that is through Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift of grace, you can't earn it, and you don't deserve it, but God offers it anyway. When we turn from our way and trust in Him, we are born again into a brand-new life. At Boundless, we teach that salvation is exclusively through Christ; there is no other path to the Father.

6. The Ordinances of the Church
We practice two main "ordinances" or symbolic acts: Water Baptism (immersion) and Holy Communion. Baptism is our way of telling the world, "I’m with Jesus now," symbolizing the death of our old self and the birth of the new. Communion is a regular meal of remembrance where we thank Jesus for His sacrifice.
7. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit
After salvation, there is a distinct experience available to every believer: being filled with the Holy Spirit. This isn't about being "better" than anyone else; it’s about receiving power to be a witness and to live out the mission God has for you. It’s like turning the lights on in a room, the Spirit empowers everything we do.
8. The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
In the Assemblies of God, we believe that the first physical sign of being baptized in the Spirit is speaking in "tongues", languages the Spirit gives us that we haven't learned. It’s a beautiful, personal way to connect with God and a sign of His presence working within us.
9. Sanctification
Once you are saved, the journey is just beginning. Sanctification is the lifelong process of becoming more like Jesus. It’s about saying "no" to the things that hurt us and "yes" to the things that bring life. As we grow, we also want to guard our hearts and minds. That’s why I always recommend tools like Bark and Covenant Eyes for digital accountability, and services like VidAngel or "Enjoy Movies Your Way" to keep our entertainment clean and life-giving. We are called to be set apart for God's good purposes.
10. The Church and Its Mission
The Church isn't a building; it’s a people. Our mission is to reach the world with the Gospel, to worship God together, and to build each other up. Whether we meet in a physical location or online through our 24/7 ministry, we are the Body of Christ in action.

11. The Ministry
God calls specific people to lead, teach, and shepherd the church. Their job isn't to do all the work, but to equip *you* to find your unique calling. Every believer has a role to play in the Kingdom of God.
12. Divine Healing
We believe that God still heals today. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we have the privilege of praying for the sick and expecting God to move. While we don't always understand why some are healed and others aren't yet, we never stop asking, because we know our God is a Healer.
13. The Blessed Hope
Jesus is coming back! We believe in the "Rapture", the moment when those who belong to Christ will be caught up to meet Him. This isn't something to fear; it is our "Blessed Hope." It means that no matter how dark the world gets, the story ends in victory.
14. The Millennial Reign of Christ
After Jesus returns, there will be a thousand-year period of peace and righteousness on earth. Imagine a world where justice actually reigns and everything is put right. That is the future God has promised.
15. The Final Judgment
Our choices in this life matter for eternity. There will be a final judgment where those who have rejected God will face eternal separation from Him, while those who have trusted in Christ will enter into eternal life. This is why our mission at Boundless is so urgent, everyone needs to hear the Good News.
16. The New Heavens and the New Earth
Finally, God will make everything new. No more tears, no more pain, and no more death. We will live with Him in a restored creation forever. This is the ultimate goal of our faith: unbroken relationship with the One who loves us most.

I know that’s a lot to take in! But remember, these truths are meant to bring you peace and direction. They remind us that we are never forgotten, never alone, and deeply loved by God. If you are feeling a pull in your heart to learn more, I want to invite you to take the next step.
