The 16 Fundamental Truths are the bedrock of our faith. They aren't just a list of rules; they are a scriptural roadmap that helps us understand God’s nature, Christ's sacrifice, and the Holy Spirit's power. By studying these truths, you gain a clear foundation for spiritual maturity and everyday Christian living.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” : 2 Timothy 3:16-17
“Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God.” : Hebrews 6:1
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” : 2 Peter 1:3
I am so glad you’re here for this study. If you’ve been following Boundless for a while, you know I’m passionate about making sure our faith isn’t just a "feeling," but something built on the solid rock of God's Word. When things get shaky in the world, we need an anchor. For us, that anchor is found in the Scriptures. These sixteen truths aren't meant to replace the Bible; they are here to help us organize and understand what the Bible clearly teaches so we don't get tossed around by every new wind of doctrine.
Whether you are joining us from across the globe, these truths are for you. They are invitations to know God more deeply. Let's dive into the deep end together and look at how these core doctrines shape our lives and our walk with Jesus as a global Boundless family.
### 1. The Scriptures Inspired
Everything starts here. I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It’s not just a collection of good stories or ancient history. It’s our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. When I’m making a decision for my family or our church, I go to the Book. It’s the final authority. If we don’t start with an inspired, infallible Bible, we’re just building on sand.
### 2. The One True God
We serve one God who has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM.” He is the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. What’s beautiful is how He has further revealed Himself as a Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s a mystery, for sure, but it’s a beautiful one that shows God is relational by His very nature.
### 3. The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus isn't just a "good teacher" or a "prophet." He is the eternal Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and is now at the right hand of God. Our entire faith hinges on the fact that Jesus is exactly who He said He was.
### 4. The Fall of Man
We have to be honest about our condition. Man was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression, we fell. This brought not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. Recognizing the "fall" is the only way we can truly appreciate the "rescue."
### 5. The Salvation of Man
This is the heart of the Gospel. Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s a gift of grace, not something we can earn by being "good enough."

### 6. The Ordinances of the Church
We practice two main ordinances: Water Baptism by immersion and Holy Communion. These are outward signs of an inward work. Baptism identifies us with Christ’s death and resurrection, and Communion reminds us of His sacrifice and His coming return. They are powerful moments of connection with the Lord.
### 7. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit
All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit. This was the normal experience of the early Christian church. With it comes the enduement of power for life and service. I’ve found that this empowerment is what helps us live out our faith with boldness in a world that often opposes it.
### 8. The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance. This isn’t a scary or weird thing; it’s a scriptural gift meant to build up the believer and provide evidence of the Spirit's overflowing presence.
### 9. Sanctification
Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God. It’s a progressive work. Day by day, we become more like Jesus. It’s not about perfection; it’s about direction. Are you moving closer to Him today than you were yesterday?
### 10. The Church and Its Mission
The Church is the Body of Christ. Each believer is an integral part of it. Our mission is three-fold: to be an agency of God for evangelizing the world, to be a corporate body in which man may worship God, and to be a channel of God’s purpose to build a body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son.

### 11. The Ministry
God has provided a divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry for the purpose of leading the Church in evangelization, worship, and building up the body. We are all called to serve, but God also sets apart leaders to help guide and protect the flock.
### 12. Divine Healing
I believe that divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers. We pray for the sick because we believe God still moves today. He is the Great Physician.
### 13. The Blessed Hope
This is the resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord. It’s the "Rapture." This hope keeps our eyes fixed on eternity rather than just the temporary troubles of this life.
### 14. The Millennial Reign of Christ
The second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the saints, followed by the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on earth for one thousand years. This reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace. Imagine a world truly at peace: that is our future!
### 15. The Final Judgment
There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life will be consigned to everlasting punishment. This is a sobering truth that fuels our passion for evangelism. We want everyone to know the saving grace of Jesus.
### 16. The New Heavens and The New Earth
“We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.” This is the final destination. A place where there is no more pain, no more tears, and we dwell in the presence of God forever. It’s the ultimate "welcome home."

### Protecting Your Spiritual Growth Online
As we grow in these truths, we have to be careful about what we let into our hearts and minds. In our digital age, staying grounded requires intentionality. I always recommend using tools to keep your home a sanctuary. For entertainment, check out family-safe clean versions of movies via VidAngel or “Enjoy Movies Your Way.” To protect your family’s online experience, I highly recommend online-safety and accountability tools like Bark and Covenant Eyes. Keeping your eyes on the "good, true, and beautiful" makes it much easier to stay aligned with these 16 Fundamental Truths.
God has so much in store for you. Don't view these truths as a checklist to memorize, but as a foundation to build a life of joy and purpose. You are never forgotten, never alone, and deeply loved by God.
Lord, I thank You for the clarity of Your Word. I pray for the person reading this right now. May these truths move from their head to their heart. Give them a hunger for the Scriptures and a deep desire to grow in the knowledge of Jesus. Empower them by Your Spirit and keep them steady on the path You have set before them. Let them feel Your love and presence today in a real and tangible way. Amen.
