A Message from FA Memphis
Trusting God’s timing means shifting our focus from our personal deadlines to His eternal sovereignty. By surrendering our plans, we find peace in the assurance that God isn’t slow, but purposeful. This study explores how biblical truths from Ecclesiastes and 2 Peter help us navigate seasons of waiting, transforming our anxiety into active faith as we rely on the perfect schedule of a loving Creator.
Bible Verses to Carry Today
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV) "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."
2 Peter 3:8 (NIV) "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day."
Proverbs 16:9 (NIV) "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."
Lamentations 3:25 (NIV) "The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him."

Pastoral Insight: The Tension of the "Waiting Room"
We’ve all been there: the "waiting room" of life. Maybe you’re waiting for a medical report, a breakthrough in your career, a restored relationship, or an answer to a prayer you’ve been whispering for years. In our modern world, we’re used to high-speed internet, instant downloads, and same-day delivery. We don’t like to wait. When God doesn't move at our pace, we often mistake His silence for absence or His "not yet" for a "no."
But as we dive into Day 43 of our study, we have to look at the character of God. In the Assemblies of God tradition, we believe firmly in the sovereignty of God. This means He isn't just watching the clock; He owns the clock. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He sees the finish line while we are still trying to figure out how to tie our shoes at the starting blocks.
Trusting God’s timing isn’t just about being patient; it’s about a deep, soul-level confidence that God is good and that He is working all things together for your benefit. When we try to rush God, we often end up creating "Ishmaels" instead of waiting for the "Isaacs" He promised. We try to force doors open that He has closed for our protection, or we run past the very lessons He wanted us to learn in the quiet seasons.
The Difference Between Chronos and Kairos
In the original language of the New Testament, there are two different words for "time."
First, there is Chronos. This is chronological time. It’s the minutes on your watch, the days on your calendar, and the deadlines at work. It’s linear and predictable.
Then, there is Kairos. This is "the appointed time" or "the opportune moment." This is God’s time.

When the Bible says that in the "fullness of time" God sent His Son (Galatians 4:4), it wasn't just a random Tuesday. It was the perfect Kairos moment. Every prophecy had to align, every political climate had to be just right, and every heart had to be prepared.
Your life operates in the same way. You might be living in Chronos: counting the days and feeling like you’re falling behind. But God is working in Kairos. He is aligning things behind the scenes that you can’t see. He is preparing people you haven't met yet and softening hearts you think are hardened. Trusting Him means believing that His Kairos is always better than your Chronos.
Why Does God Make Us Wait?
It’s a question we all ask: Why the delay, Lord?
Preparation over Provision: Sometimes we want the blessing, but we aren't yet the person who can sustain the blessing. God uses waiting to build our character, our grit, and our reliance on Him. If He gave you everything you asked for the moment you asked for it, you might rely on the gift rather than the Giver.
Protection: We only see what’s right in front of us. God sees what’s around the corner. A delay might be God’s way of keeping you from a situation that would eventually break you.
God’s Glory: Think about Lazarus. Jesus waited four days after Lazarus died before showing up. From a human perspective, he was late. But in God’s timing, the delay allowed for a greater miracle: a resurrection: that brought significantly more glory to God than a simple healing would have.

Practical Steps for Active Trust
So, what do we do while we wait? We don't just sit on our hands. We practice "active trust."
Surrender the Script: Stop trying to write the ending of your own story. Tell God, "I have my plans, but I surrender them to Your steps."
Pray Without Ceasing: Prayer isn't just for asking; it’s for connecting. Use the waiting room as a prayer room. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, remember that you can always reach out to our community for support. We’re here to walk with you.
Do the "Next Right Thing": You might not know what the next year looks like, but you know what today looks like. Be faithful in the small things while you wait for the big things.
Stay in the Word: The Bible is full of stories of people who waited. Abraham waited 25 years for a son. Joseph waited 13 years in slavery and prison before reaching the palace. These aren't just stories; they are blueprints for our faith.

A Moment of Reflection
Take a second to look back at your life. Can you think of a time when you were frustrated by a delay, only to realize later that God’s timing was perfect? Maybe a job you didn't get led to a better one. Maybe a relationship that ended opened the door for your true spouse.
God has a track record of being faithful. He hasn't failed you yet, and He isn't going to start now. He is making everything beautiful in its time.

A Prayer for Patience and Trust
Heavenly Father, I come to You today acknowledging that my heart is often restless. I want answers now, and I want my circumstances to change on my schedule. But Lord, I recognize that Your ways are higher than my ways. I ask for the gift of peace while I wait. Help me to trust Your heart when I cannot see Your hand. Strengthen my faith, remind me of Your promises, and help me to be an active seeker of Your presence every single day. I surrender my timeline to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
