Bible Study: Why Everyone Is Talking About Divine Healing (And How to Join Our Bible Study)

A Message from FA Memphis

Question: Why is everyone talking about divine healing?

Answer: Divine healing matters because Jesus is still the same today, and people are hungry for real hope. God still meets people with His power, His presence, and His compassion, and He still calls us to trust Him fully.

Value: Divine healing is a core part of the Gospel because Jesus remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. People are searching for hope and restoration that goes beyond the physical. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God continues to move in miraculous ways, bringing wholeness to our lives and preparing us for His service.

Isaiah 53:4-5 (NKJV): “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”

James 5:14-15 (NKJV): “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.”

Acts 1:8 (NKJV): “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

When I look at the world today, I see a deep hunger for the supernatural. It’s not just a curiosity about the unexplained; it’s a desperate longing for the touch of the Creator. We live in a time where medicine is advanced, yet souls are more fractured than ever. This is why the conversation around divine healing has become so central to our community of faith. We believe that God isn’t just a historical figure who performed wonders in the past, but a living Savior who is active in our present.

The concept of divine healing is deeply rooted in the atonement of Jesus Christ. When we talk about "the stripes" He took, we aren't just talking about a physical punishment; we are talking about a spiritual exchange. He took our brokenness so we could receive His wholeness. In our Bible Study sessions, we dive deep into this reality. We don't just treat healing as a "maybe" or a "sometimes"; we treat it as a promise that we can approach with bold faith.

However, it’s important to understand that divine healing isn’t a magic trick. It is a manifestation of the Kingdom of God. When someone is healed, it is a signpost pointing toward the ultimate restoration that is coming when Christ returns. This perspective is vital because it keeps our eyes on the Giver rather than just the gift. Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails. This means we stay anchored in the Word, ensuring our experiences are always aligned with the character and instructions of God as revealed in Scripture.

A significant part of this journey involves the Holy Spirit Baptism. We believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a distinct experience following salvation, which empowers the believer for life and service. It provides the spiritual "fuel" for the Christian walk. When we are filled with the Spirit, we are not just comforted; we are commissioned. This power is what enables us to pray for the sick, to speak with boldness, and to see the miraculous occur in our daily lives.

In our Bible Study Club, we explore how the Holy Spirit works through us. We look at the "Initial Physical Sign," which we understand to be speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. This isn't meant to be a point of division, but a source of profound spiritual strength. It’s a way for our spirits to communicate directly with God, bypassing our limited understanding and tapping into His infinite wisdom.

Living a life open to the miraculous also means being intentional about what we allow into our hearts and homes. As we seek spiritual health, we must also protect our mental and emotional well-being. This is why I always recommend being mindful of the media we consume. If you’re looking for entertainment that aligns with your faith, I suggest using VidAngel or “Enjoy Movies Your Way” to find family-safe, clean versions of your favorite films.

Furthermore, in an age where digital distractions are everywhere, online safety is paramount. We want our focus to remain on God’s Word and His healing power, not on the pitfalls of the internet. I highly recommend accountability tools like Bark and Covenant Eyes to help your family navigate the digital world with integrity. Protecting our eyes and ears is part of maintaining a "spiritually healthy" environment where faith can grow.

Divine healing also encompasses our mental and emotional state. Many of us carry "invisible" wounds, trauma, anxiety, and grief. The same Holy Spirit that can mend a physical ailment is the Comforter who binds up the brokenhearted. When we gather in our Bible Study groups, we create a space where these burdens can be shared and laid at the feet of Jesus. You are never forgotten, never alone, and deeply loved by God. Whatever you are walking through, there is grace enough for you.

I want to invite you to move beyond just reading about these things and start experiencing them. Our faith is meant to be lived out in community. There is something powerful about a group of believers standing together in agreement, lifting up needs to the Father. Whether you are a long-time believer or someone just starting to ask questions, you have a seat at our table.

As we look at the 16 Fundamental Truths that guide us, we see that divine healing is not an "optional extra." It is an integral part of the Gospel. It is the physical demonstration of God's love and power. When we pray for healing, we are agreeing with God’s will for His children to be whole. We don't always understand the timing or the "how," but we trust the "Who." We trust the heart of a Father who gave His only Son so that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

Let’s take a moment to pray together.

Heavenly Father, we come before You today acknowledging that You are the Great Physician. We thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and for the healing that is available to us through His stripes. Lord, I pray for the person reading this right now. If they are facing a physical challenge, I ask for Your healing touch to rest upon them. If they are seeking the power of the Holy Spirit, I ask that You fill them to overflowing. Grant them peace, strength, and a deep sense of Your presence. Help us to walk within the guardrails of Your Truth and to be witnesses of Your love to everyone we meet. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
