A Message from Boundless Online Church
Online church matters because it helps people stay connected to Jesus, Scripture, and other believers when they cannot gather in person. Virtual community can become a real place of prayer, discipleship, encouragement, and spiritual growth, helping people take meaningful steps of faith while staying rooted in God’s Word.
Hebrews 10:24-25: "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
Matthew 18:20: "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."
Acts 1:8: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
I often think about the early church and how they used every open door to carry the hope of Jesus. They traveled roads, shared letters, and crossed long distances just to encourage one another in faith. The mission has not changed. We are still called to reach people, love people, and point people to Christ wherever they are.
When I talk about virtual community being part of the future of faith, I’m not saying in-person church no longer matters. I’m saying many people need a simple, welcoming place to begin. Sometimes online community becomes the first gentle step back toward God, where someone can listen, heal, ask honest questions, and discover they are not alone.

In our journey together at Boundless, I have seen firsthand how the Holy Spirit moves through a screen. People often ask, "Is it real if I'm not there in person?" My answer is always yes. The Spirit of God is not bound by a zip code or a physical wall. When we study the Word together online, the presence of God is just as tangible because His Word is living and active. This Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails. It keeps us anchored in the truth that salvation is found only in Jesus Christ, and that the Holy Spirit is ready to empower every believer, regardless of their physical location.
One of the most beautiful aspects of a virtual faith community is its ability to meet people exactly where they are. In the traditional model, a seeker has to dress up, drive to a building, and walk through doors that might feel intimidating. In a virtual setting, that seeker can "watch from the wings," asking questions and exploring faith in a shame-free environment. It’s the ultimate "come as you are" experience. As they grow, they find that they aren't just watching a broadcast; they are joining a family. They are finding mentors, prayer partners, and friends from across the globe who are walking the same path toward Christ.
However, navigating the digital world as a Christian requires wisdom and intentionality. We live in an age where distraction is only a click away. This is why I always recommend that families take proactive steps to guard their "digital homes." If you’re looking for family-safe entertainment, I highly encourage using VidAngel or “Enjoy Movies Your Way” to filter content and keep your media consumption clean. For those of us navigating the complexities of the internet with children (or even for our own accountability), tools like Bark and Covenant Eyes are essential for maintaining a healthy, safe online environment.

The future of local faith is actually global. When we gather online, we aren't limited by the demographics of our neighborhood. We get to experience the beauty of the diverse Body of Christ. I’ve sat in digital Bible studies where someone from a small rural town is praying with someone from a bustling international city. That is a picture of heaven! It breaks down the walls of tribalism and reminds us that we are one family under one Lord. This digital outreach is a fulfillment of the Great Commission to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth, and sometimes, those "ends of the earth" are right in someone’s living room.
As we lean into this virtual future, we must remain steadfast in our doctrine. At Boundless, we hold firmly to the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God. We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the healing power of God, and the literal return of Jesus. Online spaces are simply one more place to share these eternal truths. We are here to equip people and trust God to transform lives through the power of the Gospel.
Living a Christian life in a digital age also means being intentional about "digital detox" and Sabbath rest. Just because the church is online 24/7 doesn't mean you should be! It’s vital to use these digital tools to fuel your relationship with God, not replace your quiet time with Him. Use the online resources to learn, then step away to pray, reflect, and be present with your family. The goal of virtual community is to lead you deeper into a personal relationship with Jesus, not just to give you another app to scroll through.

If you've been feeling disconnected or if you've been searching for a place where you can grow without judgment, I want you to know that you have a home here. You are never forgotten, you are never alone, and you are deeply loved by God. The virtual community we are building isn't just about technology; it’s about people. It’s about you. It’s about finding a place where you can be known and where you can use your gifts to serve others, even from behind a keyboard.
The future of faith is bright because God is already there. He is in the chat rooms, He is in the video calls, and He is in the hearts of every person seeking Him. Let's continue to use every tool at our disposal to shine His light into the darkest corners of the digital world. Together, we are a boundless church for a boundless God.
A Prayer for Our Virtual Community:
Lord, thank You for the technology that allows us to connect across borders and time zones. I pray for the person reading this right now. May they feel Your presence in their home today. Break every chain of loneliness and remind them that they are part of a global family of believers. Guide our community at Boundless to be a light in the digital darkness. Keep us anchored in Your Word and lead us closer to You every single day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
