“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7.
Welcome to the Boundless Bible Study Podcast. I’m Dr. Layne McDonald, and I’m so glad you’re here. Today’s Bible study is called When Your Heart Feels Heavy, and we are looking at what God’s Word says when life feels too big, the day feels too long, and your soul feels like it has been carrying more than it was ever meant to hold.
The Bible does not shame us for feeling heavy. It invites us to bring that heaviness to God. First Peter 5:7 says to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. That means your worry is not too small for God, and your burden is not too messy for His presence. He does not say, “Clean it up first.” He says, “Bring it to Me.”
Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Notice He does not call the perfect. He calls the weary. He calls the burdened. He calls the people who have been smiling in public while silently breaking in private. That is the heart of Jesus. He does not run from tired people. He welcomes them.
Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you.” God may not always remove every problem immediately, but He promises to sustain you. That means He can hold you steady while the answer is still unfolding. He can give you enough grace for today, even if you do not yet understand tomorrow.
So today, do not carry what God has asked you to cast. Bring Him the worry. Bring Him the pressure. Bring Him the tears you have been holding back. Let prayer become the place where your heart exhales.

Let me close with Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Lord Jesus, meet every heavy heart today. Teach us to cast our cares on You, trust Your love, and rest in Your presence. Amen.
