“You are the God who sees me.” Genesis 16:13.
Welcome to the Boundless Bible Study Podcast. I’m Dr. Layne McDonald, and I’m grateful you are here. Today’s Bible study is called The God Who Sees You, and we are looking at the beautiful truth that God sees the people others overlook.
In Genesis 16, Hagar is alone, mistreated, and sitting in the wilderness. She is not in a powerful position. She is not surrounded by comfort. She is hurting, and yet God meets her there. After the Lord speaks to her, she says, “You are the God who sees me.”
That sentence can heal something deep in us. God sees me. Not the polished version. Not the public version. Not the version that knows how to say, “I’m fine.” God sees the real person underneath all of that.
Psalm 139 says, “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” God knows when you sit and when you rise. He knows your thoughts. He knows the words before they are spoken. That means you do not have to explain yourself into being loved. You are already known.
Luke 12 says even the hairs of your head are numbered. Jesus uses that image to remind us that we are not forgotten by the Father. If God notices sparrows, He surely sees His children.
Maybe you feel overlooked today. Maybe you serve quietly, love faithfully, carry responsibilities no one claps for, and wonder if anyone notices. The Word of God says your Father sees. He sees the hidden prayers, the silent obedience, the quiet tears, and the faithfulness that never makes a stage.
So rest in this: you are not invisible to God. You are seen by the One whose love is steady, holy, and personal.

Let me close with Psalm 33:18: “The eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.”
Lord, remind us today that we are seen, known, and loved by You. Amen.
