Welcome to Day 32 of our Boundless Daily journey.
If you’re just joining us, we are so glad you’re here. Whether you’re reading this during a quiet morning coffee, on a break during a late-night shift, or while resting in a hospital room, know that you are part of a community that cares about your spiritual journey.
Today, we’re talking about a concept that sounds fancy but is actually very practical: Sanctification.
In the Assemblies of God, this is our 9th Fundamental Truth. But don't let the big word intimidate you. At its heart, sanctification is simply the process of "Growing in Grace." It’s about how we become more like Jesus, step by step, day by day.
It isn't about being perfect overnight. It’s about a direction, not just a destination.
What Does It Mean to Be "Set Apart"?
The Bible describes sanctification as an act of separation.
Think about the morning light breaking through a dense forest. That light separates the path from the shadows. In the same way, when we follow Jesus, we are being "set apart" from things that hurt us and others, things like bitterness, selfishness, and habits that keep us stuck.
But it’s not just about moving away from the bad stuff. It’s about moving toward God.

Sanctification is a two-sided coin:
Separation from evil: Leaving behind the things that darken our souls.
Dedication to God: Devoting our lives to His purpose and His love.
This isn't something we do to earn God's love. We already have that. Instead, we grow in grace because we are loved. It’s our response to the incredible gift of salvation.
The Two Sides of Growth
One of the most encouraging things about AG Truth #9 is that it recognizes sanctification happens in two ways: it is both instantaneous and progressive.
The Instantaneous Side: The moment you decide to follow Jesus, God sees you as holy because of what Jesus did on the cross. You are "positioned" in Christ. You are a new creation right then and there. You don’t have to wait twenty years to be "good enough" for God to accept you. You are His child today.
The Progressive Side: Even though we are accepted by God instantly, our daily habits and character take time to catch up. This is the "growing" part. It’s the lifelong process of the Holy Spirit working in us to make our actions match our new identity.
If you’ve ever felt frustrated because you’ve been a Christian for a while but still struggle with the same old temper or the same old anxieties, take heart. Growth takes time. A giant oak tree doesn't appear in a day; it grows through seasons of rain and sun, heat and cold. Your faith is the same way.
How We Grow Step by Step
So, how does this actually happen in the middle of a busy life?
For many in our Boundless Online Church community, life is unpredictable. You might be a caregiver who hasn't had a full night's sleep in weeks. You might be working a job that keeps you isolated from a traditional church building.
The good news is that the Holy Spirit isn't confined to a building. He is with you right where you are.
1. The Power of the Word
We grow when we fill our minds with truth. Our world is full of noise, opinions, and "fake news" that can leave us feeling drained. Spending even five minutes in the Bible can recalibrate your heart.
If you want to dive deeper into why the Bible is so vital for this journey, check out our post on Inspired Truth: The Gift of God’s Word. It’s a great resource for understanding how God speaks to us today.
2. Yielding to the Spirit
Sanctification isn't about "trying harder." It’s about "yielding more."
Imagine you’re learning to dance. If you try to control every muscle and overthink every step, you’ll be stiff and awkward. But if you relax and let a master teacher lead you, the movement becomes fluid.
The Holy Spirit is our leader. When we feel that nudge to be kind instead of snappy, or to be honest when it’s easier to lie, that’s the Spirit leading us. Growing in grace means saying "yes" to those nudges more often.

3. Staying Connected
Growth rarely happens in total isolation. Even if you can’t make it to a physical building, staying connected to a digital community of faith is vital. We need each other's prayers and encouragement.
You can find more resources and connect with others in our Faith & Discipleship section. We are walking this path together.
A Message for the Weary
We know that for some of you, "growing" feels like a luxury you can't afford. You’re just trying to survive the day.
Maybe you’re in a part of the world where following Jesus isn't safe. Maybe you’re dealing with a chronic illness that makes every movement a struggle.
Please hear this: Grace is for the weak.
Sanctification isn't a ladder you climb to get to God; it’s a vine you cling to. Jesus said, "I am the vine; you are the branches" (John 15:5). A branch doesn't struggle to grow fruit; it simply stays attached to the vine, and the life of the vine flows through it.
If you feel like you have nothing left to give, just stay attached to Jesus. Talk to Him in the quiet moments. Tell Him you’re tired. That honesty is part of growing in grace, too.
Growing in the "Small" Moments
We often think that spiritual growth only happens during big "mountain top" experiences: like a powerful conference or a moving worship set. Those are great, but most sanctification happens in the valleys and the plains.
It happens when:
You choose to forgive someone who didn't apologize.
You decide to be patient with a difficult coworker.
You spend a few minutes in prayer instead of scrolling through social media.
You offer a word of encouragement to someone who is hurting.
These small "steps" are the stones that pave the path of your spiritual journey. Over weeks and months, these tiny decisions add up to a transformed life.

What’s Your Next Step?
As we wrap up Day 32, I want to invite you to reflect on one simple question: What is one small way you can yield to the Holy Spirit today?
Maybe it’s reading one chapter of the New Testament. Maybe it’s reaching out to a friend you haven't talked to in a while. Or maybe it’s just taking a deep breath and asking God to give you His peace in the middle of a stressful situation.
Whatever it is, don't feel like you have to do it all at once. Growth is a process. God is patient with you. He’s not looking for perfection; He’s looking for a heart that is pointed toward Him.
If you’re feeling stuck or you have questions about what this looks like in your specific situation, we would love to hear from you. Our community is built on asking questions and seeking truth together.
You can explore more of our daily reflections and studies on our main blog page.
Remember, the same God who started this good work in you is faithful to complete it. You are not walking this path alone. The light of His grace is shining on the path ahead, and He is holding your hand every step of the way.
Keep growing. Keep trusting. Keep moving toward the light.
