Boundless Daily: Finding Stillness in the Storm

It is Saturday, March 7, 2026. Whether you are reading this in the quiet moments before a double shift, in the dim light of a hospital room while caregiving, or in a place where following Jesus requires a quiet, courageous heart, welcome.

We live in a world that rarely stops for a breath. Life can feel like a series of crashing waves. One moment you are navigating the complexities of a health diagnosis; the next, you are managing the pressures of a job that never seems to end. For our friends in the disabled community, the storm might be a body that doesn’t always cooperate. For those in persecuted areas, the storm is the literal threat of the environment around you.

But here is the good news for today: Stillness is not the absence of noise. Stillness is a person.

The Reality of the Storm

If you have ever been on a boat in rough water, you know the feeling. The spray hits your face, the floor beneath you is unstable, and your stomach drops with every wave. Life does that to us.

For the shift worker, the storm is the constant exhaustion and the feeling of being out of sync with the rest of the world. For the caregiver, the storm is the emotional weight of being everything for someone else while feeling like you have nothing left for yourself.

We often think that peace will come after the storm passes. We tell ourselves, "I’ll be okay once the bills are paid," or "I’ll find rest once this health crisis is over." But the peace Jesus offers is something different entirely. It is a peace that exists right in the middle of the chaos.

A weary shift worker finds stillness and peace through prayer as the sun rises during a busy workday.

Mark 4:39 – The Authority of Stillness

In the Gospel of Mark, we see the disciples caught in a literal storm. These were experienced fishermen, men who knew the water. Yet, they were terrified. They found Jesus in the back of the boat, sleeping on a cushion.

Think about that for a moment. The storm was so violent that the boat was taking on water, and Jesus was resting. When they woke Him, He didn't panic. He didn't start bailing out water. He simply stood up and said to the wind and the waves, "Peace! Be still!"

And the Bible says the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

That same voice is speaking to your situation today. You might feel like your "boat" is sinking. You might feel like you’ve been forgotten in the middle of the night. But Jesus is in the boat with you. He is not surprised by the storm, and He is not intimidated by the waves.

The Mission of the Church (AG Truth #9)

At Boundless Online Church, we believe that the Church isn't just a building you visit on Sunday morning. According to the Assemblies of God Fundamental Truth #9, the Church has a specific mission: to seek and save that which is lost, to be a body where people can worship God, and to be a channel of God’s purpose to build a body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son.

This mission is global. It includes you, right where you are.

If you are someone who can only attend church online, you are just as much a part of this mission as anyone else. Our goal is to meet you in the middle of your "storm" and help you grow in your faith. The Church is a harbor. It’s a place where we remind each other that the Captain of our soul has everything under control.

We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online. That is our heartbeat. Whether you are watching a stream at 3 AM or reading this blog post on your break, you are connected to a global family of believers who are all seeking that same stillness.

Divine Healing for the Mind and Body (AG Truth #12)

Many of us are carrying storms within our own bodies. We believe in Divine Healing (AG Truth #12), that deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers.

But healing isn't always just about the physical. Sometimes, the greatest healing we need is the healing of a fractured mind or a weary spirit. The trauma of caregiving, the isolation of disability, or the fear of persecution can create deep wounds.

Jesus is the Great Physician. He doesn't just fix bones; He mends hearts. When He speaks "Peace, be still" to your mind, the anxiety that has been keeping you awake begins to lose its power. If you are struggling with a physical or emotional burden today, know that God cares about your wholeness.

Finding Your "Micro-Stillness"

How do we actually find this stillness when we have no time? If you are a caregiver or a shift worker, you might not have an hour for a quiet "devotional time." That’s okay. Stillness can happen in the micro-moments.

  1. The Breath Prayer: As you walk from your car to your job, or as you move from one room to another, simply pray: "Lord, You are here. I am Yours."

  2. The Focused Verse: Take one promise of God and keep it on your phone or a sticky note. When the chaos rises, look at it. Let it be your anchor.

  3. Digital Community: You don't have to navigate the storm alone. Connect with others who understand. Check out our group lists to find a place where you belong.

Stillness is a posture of the heart that says, "I don't know how this ends, but I know who is in control."

A Clear Invitation: Meet the One Who Calms the Storm

Maybe you’re reading this and you realize that you’ve been trying to fight the storm on your own. You’re exhausted, and you’ve reached the end of your strength.

The greatest stillness comes when we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ. He didn't just come to calm the weather; He came to bridge the gap between us and God. He lived a perfect life, died on a cross for our sins, and rose again so that we could have eternal life and a constant relationship with Him.

If you want to know this peace, the kind that doesn't make sense to the rest of the world, it starts with a simple step of faith.

You can pray something like this right now: “Lord Jesus, I need Your peace. I admit that I’ve tried to handle life’s storms on my own. I believe You died for me and rose again. Please forgive me for my sins. Come into my life and be my Savior. Teach me how to be still in Your presence. Amen.”

If you made that decision today, or if you have questions about what it means to follow Jesus, we want to hear from you. You are moving from broken to boundless, and we are honored to walk that path with you.

Walking Forward Together

As we move through this Saturday, March 7, remember that the storm does not define you. The One who created the stars and the seas is the same One who calls you by name.

Whether your environment is chaotic, loud, or even dangerous, there is a place of stillness reserved for you in the presence of God. He is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble.

If you are looking for more resources to help you on this journey, we have a variety of online programs and guides to help you discover your purpose.

You don't have to have all the answers. You just have to know the One who does.

We invite you to reach out if you need support. Our community is built on the foundation of prayer and the belief that God is still moving today, just as He was two thousand years ago.
