Have you ever had that feeling after a long trip where you just can’t wait to get home?
Maybe you’ve been working a double shift, or you’ve been sitting in a hospital waiting room, or perhaps you’re just tired of the noise of the world. There’s a specific kind of peace that comes when you finally turn the key in the lock, step inside, and realize you can finally rest.
But if we’re being honest, even our best homes here on earth aren't perfect. Roofs leak. Neighbors move away. The "peace" we find is often temporary.
Today, we’re looking at something much bigger. We are diving into the final piece of the puzzle in our journey through the Assemblies of God 16 Fundamental Truths. Specifically, Truth #16: The New Heavens and the New Earth.
This isn't just a nice thought for a greeting card. It is the ultimate promise. It’s the finish line. It’s our final home.
What Is the New Heavens and the New Earth?
When we talk about the "end times," people usually get a bit nervous. They think about fire, judgment, and things ending. But for those of us who follow Jesus, the end of this current world isn’t a tragedy: it’s a renovation.
The Bible tells us in 2 Peter 3:13, "But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells."
Think about that word: dwells. Righteousness won’t just visit occasionally. It won't be something we struggle to find in the news or in our own hearts. It will live there. It will be the atmosphere we breathe.
At Boundless Online Church, we help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online because we know that this world, as it is right now, isn't the final version. God has a plan to take everything that is broken, everything that is hurting, and everything that is "off," and make it brand new.

It’s Not Just a Cloud
One of the biggest misconceptions about our eternal future is that we’ll be floating on clouds, playing harps, and feeling bored for a billion years.
That couldn't be further from the truth.
The promise of the New Heavens and the New Earth is about a physical, tangible, and vibrantly alive reality. It’s a "New Earth." That means mountains, rivers, colors we’ve never seen, and activities that actually matter. It’s the Garden of Eden, but better. It’s a place where we will work, create, explore, and worship without the weight of sin or exhaustion.
For our friends who are shift workers, caregivers, or living with chronic pain, this is the ultimate "good news." Imagine a body that never gets tired. Imagine a mind that is never clouded by anxiety. Imagine a world where the sun never sets on your joy.
We see a glimpse of this in Revelation 21:1: "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away."
God is the ultimate Creator. He didn't make a mistake the first time; sin just got in the way. In the New Heavens and the New Earth, the obstacles are gone. The "passing away" of the old world is like clearing out a condemned building to build a magnificent palace in its place.
The "No More" List
If you want to know what our final home looks like, the best way to describe it is by what isn't there.
In Revelation 21:4, we get a list that should make every heart skip a beat: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
Take a second to let that sink in. No more cancer. No more funerals. No more depression. No more hunger. No more loneliness.
For those in our community who are in unsafe areas or facing persecution, this promise is a lifeline. There will be no more fear. The "old order": the system of this world that rewards the greedy and hurts the innocent: is gone.

Why Does This Matter Today?
You might be thinking, "Penny, that sounds great for the future, but I’m struggling right now."
That’s a fair point. But here’s the secret: knowing where you’re going changes how you walk the path today.
When you know that your "final home" is secure, you can handle the "hotel room" of this life a little better. You don't have to be crushed by the tragedies of this world because you know they aren't the end of the story.
It gives us a "calm power." We can be welcoming and kind even when the world is harsh because we are citizens of a different Kingdom. We are just passing through.
If you’re new to these ideas and have questions about what this looks like, we’d love for you to join the conversation. You can head over to our I’m New Q&A Welcome Center to ask anything on your mind. No question is too big or too small.
A Global Hope
Boundless Online Church is for everyone, everywhere. Whether you’re reading this in a quiet living room in Memphis or on a phone in a place where you have to hide your faith, the New Heavens and the New Earth is your inheritance.
This is Truth #16 because it’s the climax of God’s story. It started with creation, moved through the fall, found redemption at the cross, and ends with a wedding feast in a perfect world.
God wants to spend forever with you. That’s the whole point. He’s not just making a nice place; He’s making a place where He can dwell with His people.
"Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God." (Revelation 21:3)
