Boundless Daily : The Peace of Presence Day 48

A Message from FA Memphis

Hey there, and welcome to Day 48 of our Boundless Daily journey. Whether you are catching this during a quick break on a double shift, reading it while the house is finally quiet, or scrolling through from a place where following Jesus isn’t always easy, we are so glad you are here.

Today, we are talking about something we all desperately need: peace.

Not just the kind of peace that comes from a quiet room or a finished to-do list, but the kind of peace that stays steady even when the world around us is loud and chaotic. We call this the "Peace of Presence." It is the deep-seated confidence that comes from knowing God isn’t just watching us from a distance, He is right here with us.

What is the Peace of Presence?

In our fast-paced, digital-first world, we are constantly "present" in a hundred different places at once. Our bodies might be at the dinner table, but our minds are in our email inboxes. We might be sitting in a church service, but our hearts are worrying about a bill that’s due on Monday.

True peace doesn't come from fixing every problem in our lives. It comes from shifting our focus.

In the Assemblies of God tradition, we believe in the "Blessed Hope", the reality that Jesus is coming again, but we also believe in the "Present Help." The Holy Spirit is our Comforter and Guide right now. When we talk about the Peace of Presence, we are talking about the active, living work of the Spirit in our daily lives.

The Biblical Foundation

If you have your Bible nearby or want to open a tab, let’s look at Philippians 4:6-7. It says:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Notice that the peace of God is described as something that "transcends all understanding." That means it doesn't always make sense! You can be in the middle of a storm and still feel a strange, calm strength. That is the Peace of Presence. It’s God’s Spirit standing guard over your heart so that fear can’t get a foothold.

Another powerful reminder is found in Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God."

For many of us, being still is the hardest thing to do. We feel like if we aren't moving, we aren't making progress. But sometimes, the most productive thing you can do for your soul is to stop, breathe, and acknowledge that God is in control. He is God, and we are not. There is a huge amount of peace in that realization.

Presence in a Digital Age

As a Content Creator and an online ministry, we love technology. It allows us to reach people in every corner of the globe. But we also know that technology can be a thief of presence.

If your phone is buzzing every thirty seconds with news alerts, social media notifications, and work pings, it’s hard to hear the "still, small voice" of God. Tech safety isn't just about avoiding bad websites; it’s about creating healthy boundaries so that your devices serve you, rather than you serving them.

For parents and families, practicing "presence" might mean setting a "digital Sabbath" for an hour each evening. It might mean turning off notifications for everything except family members. When we clear the digital clutter, we make room to notice God’s presence in our homes and in our relationships.

If you’re looking for more ways to grow your faith alongside others who understand these struggles, check out our Bible Study Club. It’s a great place to ask questions and find community.

For the Global Family

We know that many of you reading this are in unique situations.

Maybe you are a caregiver who hasn't had a full night’s sleep in months. Maybe you are working the graveyard shift and your "morning" prayer happens at 2:00 PM. Or maybe you are in a part of the world where you have to keep your faith a secret for your own safety.

Please know this: God’s presence is not limited by your schedule or your location.

He is with the nurse in the hospital hallway. He is with the laborer in the field. He is with the person sitting in a hospice room. The Peace of Presence is mobile. It follows you into the breakroom, the courtroom, and the living room.

Practical Steps to Experience His Peace Today

  1. The One-Minute Pause: Set a timer for sixty seconds. Close your eyes. Don't ask God for anything. Just thank Him for being with you.

  2. Scripture Soaking: Take one verse: like "The Lord is my shepherd" (Psalm 23:1): and repeat it slowly. Let the words sink from your head into your heart.

  3. Audit Your Inputs: If a certain app or news site is leaving you feeling anxious and "absent," give yourself permission to delete it or mute it for a few days.

  4. Connect with Others: Don't walk alone. Whether it's through our Online Programs or joining a group like the Men's Bible Study, find people who will point you back to Jesus.

A Prayer for Peace

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Prince of Peace. We thank You that Your presence isn't something we have to earn or chase down: it is a gift You freely give. Right now, for the person feeling overwhelmed, I pray for a tangible sense of Your nearness. Guard their heart and mind. Calm the storm in their soul. Help us to be still and know that You are God. In Jesus' name, Amen.
