A Message from FA Memphis
We live in a world that rarely hits the "mute" button. Between the ping of a work email at 9:00 PM, the chaos of the morning school run, and the constant stream of news on our screens, it can feel like peace is a luxury we simply can’t afford. For the busy professional trying to climb the ladder while keeping their integrity intact, or the parent trying to manage a household while nurturing a child’s soul, "peace" often feels like a distant dream: something we might find on a vacation, but certainly not in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon.
But here is the good news: the peace God offers isn’t a vacation from our reality. It’s a transformation of it.
At Boundless Online Church, we help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online, and one of the most frequent questions we hear is: "How do I actually find God’s peace when my life is so hectic?" Today, we’re diving into how we can move from surviving the chaos to thriving in Christ’s calm.
The Peace That Defies Logic
In our culture, we tend to define peace as the absence of trouble. If the bank account is full, the kids are behaving, and the boss is happy, then we feel "at peace." But that kind of peace is fragile. It’s dependent on circumstances that can change in a heartbeat.
The Bible speaks of a different kind of peace. In John 14:27, Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
Jesus isn’t offering a stress-free life; He’s offering a storm-proof heart. As part of our Assemblies of God (AG) heritage, we believe that the Bible is our ultimate authority for living. When the Word tells us that Jesus is the Prince of Peace, it means He has the authority to settle the turbulence in our spirits, even when the world around us is still shaking.

Step 1: The "Prayer Swap" (Philippians 4:6-7)
For the busy professional or the overwhelmed parent, prayer can sometimes feel like just another item on the to-do list. We think we need thirty minutes of perfect silence to "really" pray. But the Apostle Paul gives us a much more practical strategy in Philippians 4:6-7:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Notice the exchange here. You give God your anxiety, and He gives you His peace. It’s a "Prayer Swap."
Practical Tip for Professionals: Instead of checking your phone the moment you wake up, give God the first sixty seconds of your day. A simple, "Lord, I give you this day and every deadline in it," can shift your entire perspective before the first meeting even begins.
Practical Tip for Parents: Use the "car seat prayer." When you’re buckled in and ready to head to soccer practice or the grocery store, take ten seconds to thank God for one specific blessing from that morning. Gratitude is a natural enemy of anxiety.
Step 2: Radical Stillness in a Loud World
One of the greatest challenges to finding peace is the noise. Not just physical noise, but the mental clutter of constant information. We are the most "connected" generation in history, yet we are often the most spiritually disconnected from ourselves and God.
Psalm 46:10 tells us, "Be still, and know that I am God."
To "be still" doesn't mean you stop working or stop caring for your family. In the original Hebrew, it carries the idea of "letting go" or "ceasing to strive." It’s an intentional choice to stop trying to control outcomes that only God can handle.

As we walk out our Christian life, we have to realize that stillness is a spiritual discipline. It’s okay to turn off the notifications. It’s okay to sit in silence for five minutes before the kids wake up or after they go to bed. In those moments of stillness, we create space for the Holy Spirit to speak. We believe in Spirit-empowered living, which means we rely on the Holy Spirit to give us the strength and the quietness of heart that we can’t manufacture on our own.
Step 3: Guarding Your Mind (2 Corinthians 10:5)
If you’re a professional in a high-stakes environment, you know the power of mindset. If you’re a parent, you know how quickly a "what-if" thought about your child can spiral into full-blown panic.
Our minds are the primary battlefield for peace. The enemy loves to plant seeds of doubt, comparison, and fear. “You’re not doing enough.” “Everyone else is ahead of you.” “What if something goes wrong?”
The Bible instructs us to "take every thought captive to obey Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5). This is proactive mental work. When a stressful thought enters your mind, don't let it sit there and build a nest. Compare it to God’s Word. If it contradicts God’s promise of provision and care, it has to go.
Replace those thoughts with truth. You might find it helpful to look through our media resources for messages and worship that help realign your thinking with God's truth.
Step 4: Standing Together in Community
God never intended for us to carry the weight of a hectic world alone. Even as an online church, we believe deeply in the power of community. There is a specific kind of peace that comes from knowing someone is standing with you.
For the parent who feels isolated or the professional who feels like the only Christian in their office, finding a "tribe" is essential. Whether it’s joining a Sunday Bible study or connecting through our online programs, being part of the Body of Christ reminds us that our God is bigger than our schedules.

The Source of Lasting Peace
Ultimately, peace isn't a "thing" we find; it's a Person we know. Jesus Christ is the source. Our faith is built on the reality of Christ-centered salvation. When we are reconciled to God through Jesus, the "war" within us ends. We are no longer orphans fighting for our own survival; we are children of a King who owns the cattle on a thousand hills.
If you are feeling the weight of the world today, remember that God’s peace is available right now. It’s available in the laundry room, the boardroom, and the breakroom. You don't have to wait for the weekend to find rest.
A Prayer for Peace
Lord, I thank You that You are the Prince of Peace. I lift up every busy professional and every exhausted parent reading this today. I ask that Your Holy Spirit would settle over their hearts right now. Help them to swap their worries for Your peace. Give them the courage to be still and the wisdom to guard their minds. Let them feel Your presence in the middle of their hectic schedules. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
We would love to hear from you. What are some ways you find God’s peace in your daily life? Do you have a favorite verse that keeps you grounded? If you’re struggling and need someone to stand with you in prayer, we are here.
