A Message from FA Memphis
Digital connection is more than just screen time; it is a vital lifeline that unites the global Body of Christ. Through our virtual church community, geographical, physical, and social barriers are dismantled, allowing believers to find authentic fellowship, prayer support, and spiritual growth regardless of their location, physical ability, or past experiences.
The Heart of the Matter: Scripture on Connection
The Bible reminds us that the Church has never been defined by the four walls of a building. It is defined by the people called by His name, united by one Spirit. Here are a few verses that anchor our digital mission:
Romans 12:5: "So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."
Matthew 18:20: "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."
Hebrews 10:24-25: "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

1. Elena’s Kitchen Table Cathedral
I want to tell you about Elena. Elena lives in a beautiful but incredibly remote area where the nearest Bible-believing church is over a three-hour drive away. For years, she felt like a spiritual island. She loved the Lord, but she lacked the one thing every believer needs: a family to walk with.
When she first stumbled upon our virtual church community, she told me, "I thought I was just watching a video, but I found a family." Now, Elena doesn't just watch; she participates. Every week, she sits at her kitchen table with her tablet, connecting with brothers and sisters thousands of miles away. They know her name. They know her prayer requests. For Elena, digital connection didn't just supplement her faith, it saved it from isolation.
This is the beauty of our Assemblies of God worldview. We believe the Great Commission is for everyone, everywhere. When we say the Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails, we mean that we are anchored in the truth that the Gospel must reach every corner of the earth, and today, that "earth" includes the digital landscape.
2. Breaking the Barrier of Social Anxiety
Then there’s a young man I’ll call Mark. Mark had some rough experiences with traditional church settings in the past. He felt judged and out of place, to the point where just walking through a set of church doors caused him a massive amount of anxiety. He wanted God, but he was terrified of the "institution."
He started by quietly observing our live chats. He didn't speak for weeks. But one Sunday, someone simply typed, "Mark, we’re so glad you’re here today." That tiny spark of digital recognition changed everything. He eventually joined a virtual small group where he felt safe to ask the hard questions. Today, Mark has accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He discovered that connection matters more than physical proximity, and that God's grace can reach through a screen just as easily as a sanctuary.

3. The Online Missionaries: Prayer from the Bedside
I am constantly moved by our "Online Missionaries." These are individuals who might be homebound due to age or health limitations. In a traditional setting, they might feel like they can no longer "serve" the church because they can't attend a work day or teach a physical class.
But in our virtual community, they are our frontline warriors. One sister, Sarah, spends her days on our prayer walls. She intercedes for people in different time zones, offering comfort to the broken-hearted from her living room chair. She is fulfilling the Great Commission every single day. Her physical world may have shrunk, but her spiritual impact is boundless. She is never forgotten, never alone, and deeply loved by God.
4. James: Finding Belonging Beyond the "Mold"
James never felt like he fit the "mold" of what a churchgoer should look like in his local town. Between his tattoos and his unconventional schedule, he felt like an outsider looking in. When he joined our virtual space, he realized that age, appearance, and social status fall away in the digital light of the Gospel.
In our community, James is treated as a priceless child of God. He’s not a "project" or a "stranger"; he’s a brother. For him, the online church became his primary lifeline. It gave him a place to grow without the fear of immediate social pressure, allowing the Holy Spirit to work on his heart at a pace he could handle. We meet people where they are, just as Jesus did.

5. The Wyoming Spark: Digital Seeding Physical Community
Finally, there is a wonderful story out of Wyoming. One man started watching our services alone. But he didn't want to keep it to himself. He invited a neighbor. Then another. Soon, there were 20 people gathering in his home to watch the online service together. They watch the digital message, and then they have a physical lunch and discuss the sermon.
This shows that digital ministry doesn't replace the local church, it often plants the seeds for new ones. It catalyzes community where none existed before. It’s about leveraging technology to foster the kind of fellowship the early church had in Acts, where they broke bread and shared life together.
Navigating the Digital World Safely
While we celebrate these connections, we also know the digital world can be a noisy and sometimes dangerous place. As we build our virtual church, I always encourage our community to practice digital stewardship. If you're looking for clean, family-safe media, I highly recommend using VidAngel or "Enjoy Movies Your Way" to filter your content.
For those looking to protect their families and maintain personal accountability online, tools like Bark and Covenant Eyes are excellent resources. We want our digital connection to be a source of life, not a door to distraction. Staying focused on Christ requires intentionality, especially when we are online.
Why Digital Connection Matters to You
You might be reading this and feeling like Elena, isolated and alone. Or maybe you're like Mark, feeling a bit hesitant about the whole "church" thing. I want you to know that you have a place here. The Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails that keep us focused on the truth of Scripture while we explore these new frontiers of fellowship.
Our goal is to ensure that no one is left behind. Whether you are in a high-rise in Singapore or a farm in Nebraska, you are part of the Body. You are priceless. You are loved. And in this virtual community, you are home.
A Prayer for Our Global Community
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of technology that allows us to call ourselves a family across thousands of miles. I pray for every person reading this today who feels disconnected. Remind them that they are never alone and that Your Spirit knows no boundaries. Strengthen our global bonds, protect our hearts as we navigate the digital world, and let Your light shine through every screen. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
