A Message from FA Memphis
You feel alone because your soul was created for a connection that the world cannot satisfy. This "spiritual homesickness" is a deep-seated longing for God and authentic community. While modern society faces a loneliness epidemic, the hope found in Jesus Christ offers a bridge from isolation to belonging through faith and fellowship.
Bible Verses
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” , **Psalm 42:1-2**
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” , **Deuteronomy 31:6**
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” , **Matthew 18:20**
Understanding the Ache in Our Souls
Have you ever sat in a crowded room, maybe at a party, a work meeting, or even a church service, and felt completely alone? It’s a haunting question: *'Why do I feel alone even when I’m surrounded by people?'* If you’ve asked this, please know you are not broken, and you are certainly not the only one. We are currently navigating what health experts call a “Loneliness Epidemic.” In 2026, loneliness is recognized as a major public health crisis, with studies showing that chronic isolation can be as damaging to our physical health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Even with our world more "connected" than ever through social media, the heart remains hungry.
At Boundless Online Church, we see this every day. Our reach is global because this ache knows no borders. We’ve built a community that offers 24/7 prayer support and real-time connection because we know that loneliness doesn't keep office hours. Whether you are a shift worker, a caregiver, or someone just searching for a safe place to land, I want you to know: you are never forgotten, you are never alone, and you are deeply loved by God.

What many call "loneliness" is actually what I like to call "spiritual homesickness." It is a term that describes the soul’s natural reflex to long for its Creator. We were made by God and for God, and until we find our rest in Him, there will always be a lingering sense of being "out of place." This isn't just a feeling; it’s a theological reality. In the Assemblies of God tradition, we believe that human beings were created for fellowship, both with God and with one another. When that fellowship is broken or superficial, the soul begins to grieve. Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails. This perspective keeps us anchored in the truth that only Jesus can truly bridge the gap between our isolation and our intended purpose.
The Digital Paradox and the Friday Detox
It’s Friday, a day when we often think about the weekend ahead and how we can reconnect with our families. However, the very tools we use to stay "connected" can sometimes be the biggest barriers to true intimacy. We scroll through the highlights of others' lives while our own hearts feel hollow. This is why, for our "Friday Families" focus, I want to suggest a digital detox. It doesn't have to cost anything, but the reward is priceless.
Try setting a "basket time" this evening. Everyone in the house puts their phones in a basket for two hours. During that time, engage in something analog. Play a board game, go for a walk, or simply sit around the table and ask each other, "Where did you see God today?" These small, intentional moments of presence are the antidote to the digital noise that fuels our loneliness. When we remove the distractions, we create space for the Holy Spirit to move in our homes and our relationships.

Why an Online Community Matters
You might wonder how an online church can help with a loneliness epidemic. Isn't more screen time the problem? Not necessarily. The problem isn't the screen; it's the *content* and the *connection*. Most digital interactions are passive, we consume without contributing. Boundless Online Church is designed to be interactive. We aren't just a broadcast; we are a body. From virtual Bible studies to small groups that meet across time zones, we are using technology to facilitate the kind of "two or three gathered in my name" moments that Jesus talked about.
We serve as a bridge. For some, the traditional church building feels intimidating or inaccessible due to health, work, or past hurts. We meet you exactly where you are, in your living room, your hospital bed, or your break room. Our mission is to move you from isolation to connection, and from curiosity to a committed faith. We want to help you find a physical church when you’re ready, but until then, we are your family. Finding Your Way Home
If you are struggling with spiritual homesickness today, remember that the Prodigal Son didn't have to fix himself before he started walking home. The Father saw him from a long way off and ran to meet him. That is the heart of God for you. He isn't waiting for you to get your life in order or for your loneliness to disappear. He is waiting to walk through it with you.
Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails because it reminds us that the Holy Spirit is our Comforter. He is the one who fills the empty spaces in our hearts. When we lean into Him, that "homesickness" begins to transform into a "blessed hope." We realize that while we are pilgrims on this earth, we are never traveling alone. We have a global community of believers walking right beside us, and a Savior who has promised to be with us until the very end of the age.

A Prayer for the Lonely Heart
Heavenly Father, I lift up the person reading this right now who feels the weight of loneliness. I ask that Your Holy Spirit would sweep into their room and their heart, bringing a peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind them that they are seen, known, and loved. Heal the ache of spiritual homesickness and lead them toward authentic, Christ-centered community. Thank You for the promise that You will never leave us or forsake us. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
