Discipleship : How Can You Grow Your Faith from Home?
Digital discipleship allows you to deepen your relationship with Jesus using online tools like podcasts, virtual small groups, and digital Bible studies. By leveraging technology, you can engage with a global community and access life-changing resources from the comfort of your home, helping your spiritual growth remain consistent regardless of your physical location, schedule, or life circumstances.
The Heart of the Matter: Faith in a Digital Age
In a world that is more connected yet often feels more isolated than ever, the question of how we grow in our walk with Christ has taken on a new shape. We often think of "church" as a building or a specific hour on Sunday morning. While the physical gathering is a beautiful and biblical part of our faith, the Great Commission wasn't restricted to four walls. Jesus told us to go into all the world, and today, "all the world" includes the digital spaces where we spend so much of our time.
Digital discipleship is simply using the tools at our fingertips to become more like Jesus. It’s about taking the same intentionality we bring to our careers or our hobbies and applying it to our spiritual lives through the screens we use every day. Whether you are homebound, traveling, or simply looking for ways to keep the fire of faith burning between Sundays, growing from home isn't just a backup plan, it’s a powerful opportunity.

What the Word Says
Before we dive into the "how," let’s look at the "why" through the lens of Scripture. God’s Word is not bound by geography.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Romans 10:17 (NIV) "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ."
Acts 1:8 (NIV) "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
These verses remind us that our mission is global and our growth is fueled by the Word. If the "ends of the earth" can be reached through a fiber-optic cable or a satellite signal, then the Holy Spirit is more than capable of working through your smartphone or laptop to transform your heart.
Practical Steps to Growth at Home
Growing your faith from home requires intentionality. Without the physical prompt of walking into a sanctuary, we have to create a "digital sanctuary" for ourselves. Here are a few ways you can start today:
1. Curate Your Content
Faith comes by hearing, so what are you listening to? Instead of letting an algorithm decide what fills your mind, take control. You can explore our podcasts to find teachings that challenge and encourage you during your morning coffee or your daily workout. When you fill your ears with truth, it becomes much easier to filter out the noise of the world.
2. Dive into Structured Learning
Sometimes we want to grow, but we just don't know where to start. Structured courses are a fantastic way to build a solid theological foundation. Whether you are a new believer or have been walking with the Lord for decades, there is always something new to discover about the character of God. Digital discipleship means having a world-class library of biblical wisdom available at the click of a button.
3. Join the Conversation
Discipleship was never meant to be a solo sport. Even from home, you need a community to cheer you on, pray for you, and hold you accountable. Our online groups offer a space to connect with others who are on the same journey. Sharing a testimony or asking a hard question in a safe, welcoming environment is where real growth often happens. You can read real stories of life change from others in our community to see how God is moving globally.

Tech Safety and the Digital Home
As we embrace these tools, it is important to lead our families with wisdom. Technology is a powerful servant but a poor master. For parents, digital discipleship also means teaching our children how to navigate the online world safely.
We encourage families to set boundaries that protect the heart and mind. This might look like having "tech-free" zones during dinner to focus on conversation, or using filtering software to ensure that the content entering your home aligns with your values. Discipleship at home is as much about what we keep out as what we let in. We want to use these platforms to encounter the Holy Spirit, not to become distracted by the endless scroll of comparison and secularism.
The Power of the "Sunday Live" Experience
While we grow throughout the week, there is something special about the corporate move of the Spirit. Even when you are participating from your living room, you are part of a global body of believers. Joining our Sunday Live Worship at 10:30 AM CST allows you to sync your heart with thousands of others. We believe that the presence of God isn't limited by your location. When we lift our voices together in the digital space, the atmosphere in your home can shift.

Staying Grounded in the Truth
At Boundless Online Church, we are committed to the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God. This means that everything we do, from our blog posts to our live streams, is rooted in the authority of the Bible and the power of the Holy Spirit. Digital discipleship isn't about "watering down" the Gospel to make it more internet-friendly. It’s about using modern methods to share the timeless, unchanging truth that Jesus saves, heals, and is coming again.
We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online. That mission is at the core of everything you see on our website. If you’re feeling stuck or like your faith has plateaued, be encouraged: God is not finished with you. He is ready to meet you right where you are, on your couch, at your desk, or on your commute.
A Prayer for Your Journey
"Lord, I thank You that Your Spirit is not limited by space or time. I ask that You would give me a hunger for Your Word and a desire to grow closer to You every single day. Help me to use the tools and technology I have to honor You and to build Your kingdom. Protect my home, guide my family in wisdom, and let Your peace fill my heart as I seek Your face. Lead me into the right communities and the right resources that will help me become the person You created me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
