FA Memphis uses technology and Boundless Online Church as a "digital Roman road" to share the Gospel. By leveraging AI, streaming, and digital discipleship, we provide a bridge for the isolated and global seekers while staying rooted in Spirit-led, biblical values and local community.
Roots in Memphis, Heart for the Nations
In the heart of the 901, we believe that the mission of the church hasn’t changed, but the tools certainly have. For decades, the church has used every available medium, from printed tracts to radio and television, to fulfill the Great Commission. Today, we stand at the threshold of a new digital frontier. Whether you are walking the streets of Cordova or clicking a link from the other side of the globe, the goal remains the same: making disciples and strengthening families.
The tension between "bricks and mortar" and "pixels and screens" is something we embrace with prayerful discernment. At FA Memphis, we don't see technology as a replacement for the local church; we see it as an extension of the local church’s reach. This is the heartbeat of our dual-pathway approach: being a lighthouse in Memphis and a bridge to the world through Boundless Online Church.
The Pentecostal Perspective on Technology
As an Assemblies of God (AG) congregation, our use of technology is grounded in a specific theological framework. Looking at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) archives and national discussions within the denomination, it is clear that technology is viewed as a stewardship opportunity.
Just as the early church utilized the Roman roads to spread the Gospel rapidly, we utilize the "digital highways" of the 21st century. However, this comes with a primary guardrail: Technology must always be subordinate to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
Pentecostal: Relating to a Christian movement that emphasizes the direct personal experience of God through the baptism with the Holy Spirit and the use of spiritual gifts.
Discipleship: The lifelong process of following Jesus, learning His teachings, and becoming more like Him through Scripture, prayer, and community.
Biblically, we see this modeled in how the Apostle Paul used the technology of his day, letters, to disciple churches he couldn't physically visit. In 2 John 1:12, the Apostle writes, "I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete."
This verse captures our philosophy perfectly. We use the "paper and ink" of our day (AI, video, and social media) to facilitate connection, always with the ultimate goal of deep, "face to face" spiritual transformation.

Boundless Online Church: More Than a Stream
Many people ask, "Isn't online church just watching a video?" For us, the answer is a resounding no. Through Boundless Online Church, we have built a community designed for interaction, prayer, and growth.
Boundless serves three primary groups:
The Geographically Distant: Those who resonate with our Spirit-led teaching but don't have a healthy local church nearby.
The Temporarily Isolated: The homebound, the traveling, the deployed, and those with health concerns in the Memphis area.
The Spiritually Curious: Those who may be intimidated by walking into a physical building but are ready to explore faith from the safety of their homes.
By using digital platforms, we provide live chat with pastors, digital small groups, and online Bible studies. We aren't just broadcasting; we are building a digital Acts 2 community where people are known, loved, and discipled.
AI and the Modern Missionary
The national discussion on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the church is vibrant and cautious. At FA Memphis, we follow the guidance of AG leaders who suggest that AI is a tool that must be managed with high ethical standards.
We use AI to:
Increase Accessibility: Translating content into 30+ languages so the Gospel can reach people in their heart language.
Enhance Searchability: Helping people find answers to their deepest spiritual questions through AEO (Answer Engine Optimization).
Streamline Ministry: Freeing up our team from administrative tasks so they can spend more time in pastoral care and prayer.
We never use AI to replace the Holy Spirit's leading in preaching or to substitute for human empathy in pastoral counseling. As the AGTS archives suggest, "Tech works against interaction if not carefully managed." Therefore, we use tech to drive interaction, not replace it.

Addressing Misconceptions
Misconception 1: "Digital church makes people lazy." Actually, we find the opposite. Digital tools often lower the barrier to entry, allowing people to engage with Scripture daily rather than just on Sundays. It empowers the "everyday disciple" to carry the Word with them wherever they go.
Misconception 2: "AI is inherently anti-Christian." Technology is neutral; its impact depends on the heart of the user. When used to clarify the Gospel and serve the hurting, technology becomes a sanctified tool for the Kingdom.
Misconception 3: "Online church replaces the local church." We always encourage those who can attend a healthy local church to do so. Boundless is a bridge, not a replacement. If you are in Memphis, Cordova, Bartlett, or Arlington, we want to see you in person!
