Divine Healing: Trusting the Great Physician

You are tired.

Your body feels like a weight you can no longer carry.

Perhaps you are sitting in a sterile hospital room.

Maybe you are at home, staring at a bottle of pills that don't seem to help.

The pain is loud. The silence from God feels louder.

We want you to know something today.

God sees you. He knows the rhythm of your heartbeat and the depth of your ache.

At Boundless Online Church, we believe that healing isn't just a historical event.

It is a present promise.

The Heart of the Father

In the Old Testament, God revealed Himself by many names.

One of the most powerful is Jehovah Rapha.

It means "The Lord Who Heals You."

Healing is not just something God does. It is who He is.

He is the Great Physician.

When we look at the life of Jesus, we see this character in motion.

Jesus didn't just preach to the crowds.

He touched the leper. He restored sight to the blind. He made the lame walk.

He never turned away someone who came to Him for healing.

His compassion was the driving force behind His power.

Healing and the Atonement

In the Assemblies of God, we hold to a core truth.

It is our 12th Fundamental Truth: Divine Healing.

This truth teaches us that healing is provided for in the atonement.

What does that mean for you?

It means that when Jesus went to the cross, He didn't just carry our sins.

He carried our sicknesses.

The prophet Isaiah wrote, "By His stripes, we are healed."

This wasn't just poetry. It was a legal transaction in the spiritual realm.

Deliverance from sickness is the privilege of all believers.

It is part of the "package" of the Gospel.

Jesus didn't just come to save your soul for eternity.

He came to bring wholeness to your body, mind, and spirit today.

Why Do We Suffer?

This is the hardest question.

If God is a healer, why are you still hurting?

We live in a broken world.

Disease and decay are part of the fallen state of humanity.

But sickness is never God’s best for you.

Sometimes, healing is instantaneous: a miracle that leaves doctors speechless.

Other times, it is a process.

And sometimes, we walk through a "not yet" season.

Trusting the Great Physician means trusting His timing.

It means believing He is working even when we can't see the results.

He is the gardener of our souls.

Sometimes He prunes so we can grow.

But He never leaves us alone in the fire.

Medicine and Miracles

Some people think that seeking medical help shows a lack of faith.

We believe the opposite.

All healing comes from God.

God created the human mind. He gave us the ability to study medicine.

He gave doctors the skill to perform surgery.

He gave scientists the wisdom to develop treatments.

Medicine is a tool in the hand of the Great Physician.

You can take your medicine and pray for a miracle at the same time.

They are not enemies. They are partners.

Whether God heals through a touch from heaven or a prescription from a doctor, He gets the glory.

We thank Him for every avenue of recovery.

The Prayer of Faith

If you are suffering, the Bible gives us a clear roadmap.

James 5 tells us what to do.

"Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them."

There is power in agreement.

There is power in the anointing of oil as a symbol of the Holy Spirit.

The "prayer of faith" isn't about how loud you yell.

It isn't about using the "right" religious words.

It is about simple, child-like trust.

It is saying, "Lord, I can't. But You can."

We believe the Holy Spirit is still moving in this way today.

Spiritual Wholeness

Sometimes we focus so much on the physical that we forget the internal.

Jesus often told people their sins were forgiven before He told them to walk.

Why?

Because the heart is the center of everything.

Bitterness, fear, and guilt can weigh on the body.

The Great Physician wants to heal the wounds you can’t see, too.

He wants to wash away the trauma of the past.

He wants to settle the anxiety about the future.

Wholeness is about the entire person.

You are more than a medical chart.

You are a beloved child of God.

Waiting in the Quiet

What do you do when the healing hasn't come yet?

You rest.

You don't rest in your own strength.

You rest in His character.

Psalm 23 tells us He leads us beside still waters.

He restores our souls.

Rest is an act of defiance against the enemy.

It says, "I may be sick, but I am not defeated."

It says, "I trust the one who holds my life."

Keep seeking Him. Keep asking. Keep knocking.

But also, keep resting.

A Community of Hope

You don't have to carry this burden alone.

Boundless Online Church exists to walk with you.

We are a global family.

We have people joining us from hospitals, bedrooms, and living rooms all over the world.

Our blog posts are filled with stories of God's faithfulness.

We encourage you to explore our online programs to find a community that understands your journey.

Connecting with others can be a form of healing itself.

Isolation is where the enemy works.

Community is where God moves.

Your Next Step

If you are in pain right now, take a deep breath.

Look toward the Great Physician.

He isn't far away. He is right there in the room with you.

He isn't disappointed in your lack of strength.

He is your strength.

Lean into His promises.

Read the Gospels. See how He loved the broken.

He loves you exactly the same way.

You are not forgotten.

It is the bridge between our need and His supply.
