Elderly Care: Wisdom from the Wise

I'll never forget the day an 84-year-old saint in our community told me she felt "invisible." She was homebound, couldn't make it to physical church anymore, and felt like her years of walking with God no longer mattered to anyone. Meanwhile, just a few clicks away in our Boundless chat rooms, a young adult was asking questions about prayer, wondering if anyone had "actually lived this faith long enough to know if it's real."

Age-specific programming has its place, but research shows us something powerful: faith is caught, not just taught. It's transmitted through authentic relationships where people of all ages learn and grow together. The gray hair in the room isn't a relic of a bygone era: it's a living library of God's faithfulness.

And here's what breaks my heart: some of our most spiritually mature, prayer-warrior, been-through-the-fire-and-came-out-gold members are sitting at home feeling like their race is over. They're homebound due to health, distance, or mobility. They think their ministry days are behind them.

Friend, that couldn't be further from the truth.

Introducing "Wisdom from the Wise"

This is why we're highlighting a beautiful kind of ministry at Boundless called Wisdom from the Wise. It's beautifully simple: creating space for younger adults who are hungry to grow to connect with seasoned saints who are homebound but spiritually on fire.

Titus 2:3-5 puts it plainly: "Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior... They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women..." (Titus 2:3-5; and the same principle applies to men, of course.)

Psalm 71:18 is one of my favorites: "Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come." (Psalm 71:18)

Did you catch that? The psalmist isn't praying, "God, let me retire in peace." He's praying, "God, don't let me check out until I've passed this on." That's the heart of Wisdom from the Wise.

Here's your biblical affirmation for today: Your story isn't over, and your wisdom isn't wasted. God has placed you exactly where you are so that someone, somewhere, can see His faithfulness through your life.
