A Message from FA Memphis
When Christians say they are "saved," they mean they have been rescued by God from the spiritual consequences of sin through faith in Jesus Christ. This involves being forgiven for past mistakes, restored to a relationship with God, and given the promise of eternal life. It is a free gift of grace that transforms a person's present life and secures their future beyond death.
Bible Verses
John 3:16 – "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Ephesians 2:8-9 – "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."
Romans 10:9 – "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Acts 4:12 – "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
Explanation
If you have spent any time around church people or religious social media, you have likely heard the word "saved." It is often used as a shorthand, a way of saying someone has joined the family of God. But for someone looking in from the outside, perhaps someone in a prison cell, a person living in a country where faith is dangerous, or a private seeker scrolling through their phone late at night, the term can feel like a piece of jargon that needs a key to unlock.
At its heart, being saved is about a rescue. To be saved, you first have to be in a position where you need saving. In the Christian faith, we believe that every human being has a "broken connection" with our Creator. We call this sin. It isn’t just about doing "bad things"; it is a state of being where we try to run our lives independent of the God who designed us.

The Problem: The Great Divide
Think of it like being lost at sea. No matter how hard you swim, you cannot reach the shore on your own strength. The distance is too great. The Bible teaches that God is perfectly holy and just. Because of our sin, the wrong things we think, say, and do: we are separated from Him. That separation has a heavy consequence: spiritual death.
Many people try to bridge this gap themselves. They think, "If I am just a little bit better," or "If I do enough good deeds, God will accept me." But the standard of perfection is something we can never reach. This is why the news of the Gospel (which literally means "Good News") is so powerful. It starts with the honest admission that we cannot save ourselves.
The Solution: The Ultimate Rescue
This is where Jesus comes in. Christians believe that Jesus is God in human form. He lived the perfect life we couldn't live and then took the punishment we deserved. When He died on the cross, He wasn't just a martyr; He was a substitute. He stepped into our place.
When He rose from the dead three days later, He proved that He had victory over death and sin. Being "saved" means that you accept what Jesus did for you. You stop trying to swim to shore on your own and you grab onto the life raft He has thrown to you. You are rescued from the penalty of sin (judgment) and the power of sin (the habits and hurts that keep us stuck).

How Does It Happen?
The beauty of salvation is that it is a gift. You don’t earn a gift; you simply receive it. In the Assemblies of God tradition, we lean heavily on the truth that salvation comes through repentance and faith.
Repentance is a big word that simply means "changing your mind." It’s like driving the wrong way down a one-way street, realizing it, and turning the car around. You decide to stop moving away from God and start moving toward Him.
Faith is more than just knowing facts about Jesus. Even the demons know facts. Faith is trust. It is putting your weight on the fact that Jesus is who He says He is and that His sacrifice was enough to cover your past, present, and future.
If you are a private seeker or someone in a restricted environment, know this: you don't need a cathedral, a priest, or a special ceremony to be saved. You can talk to God right where you are. He hears the cry of the heart in a prison cell just as clearly as He hears a prayer in a church building.
The Result: A New Life
When you are saved, something internal changes. The Bible calls it being "born again." It’s a fresh start. Your past is wiped clean. You are not just "fixed"; you are made new.
This doesn't mean life suddenly becomes easy. You will still face challenges, and you will still make mistakes. But the difference is that you are no longer alone. You have a relationship with a loving Father who guides you through His Spirit. You gain a sense of peace that doesn't depend on your circumstances.
For those of us at Boundless Online Church, we see this transformation every day. People who felt hopeless find purpose. People who were paralyzed by guilt find freedom. This is why we are so passionate about sharing Daily Truths and helping people understand the heart of God.

Is This for Everyone?
One of the most common questions we get is, "Have I done too much for God to save me?" The answer is a resounding no.
The Gospel is for the outcast, the prisoner, the skeptic, and the person who feels they have reached the end of their rope. There is no pit so deep that God’s grace is not deeper still. Whether you are reading this in a high-rise office or behind bars, the invitation is the same: "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Salvation is a global invitation. It transcends borders and cultures. It is the one thing that can bring true unity to a divided world because it puts us all on the same level: people in need of a Savior who has already done the work.

Walking the Path
Being saved is the beginning of a journey, not the finish line. It’s like entering a house. Once you walk through the door (salvation), you get to explore all the rooms. You grow in your understanding of God, you learn to live out His values, and you begin to see the world through His eyes.
We invite you to explore this further. You don't have to have all the answers today. You just have to be willing to take that first step of trust. If you want to carry a reminder of your journey or share your faith with others, you can find resources and even ministry apparel in our store that helps support our mission to reach the world online.
We are here to walk with you. Whether you are curious, skeptical, or ready to believe, you are welcome here.
Prayer
"Lord, I admit that I need You. I have tried to live life my own way, and I’ve seen where that leads. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again to give me new life. I ask You to forgive me and to save me. Come into my life and lead me from this day forward. Thank You for Your grace and Your love. Amen."
Next Steps
If you prayed that prayer or if you have more questions about what it means to follow Jesus, we would love to hear from you. You don’t have to do this alone.
We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online.
