A Message from FA Memphis
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, a divine Helper promised by Jesus to empower and guide every believer. He is not a vague or impersonal force, but a personal presence who comforts, convicts, and equips us for a life of faith. Understanding His role is essential for experiencing the empowered, purposeful life God intends for His children today.
What the Bible Says
John 14:16-17 (NIV) "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever: the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."
Acts 1:8 (NIV) "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Romans 8:26 (NIV) "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans."

Getting to Know the Person of the Holy Spirit
When we talk about the Holy Spirit, it is easy to get caught up in metaphors. We hear about wind, fire, or a dove. While these are biblical symbols that help us understand His work, it is vital to remember that the Holy Spirit is a Person.
He is God. He is co-equal with God the Father and God the Son. He has a mind, He has emotions, and He has a will. He can be grieved, He can be resisted, and He can be invited into our daily lives.
For many people: especially if you are just starting your faith journey or perhaps you’re balancing a heavy work schedule or caregiving: the Holy Spirit might feel like a distant concept. But the truth is, He is the closest friend you will ever have. He is the one who makes the presence of Jesus real to you right where you are, whether that is in a quiet living room or on a break during a late-night shift.
Your Divine Helper (The Paraclete)
Jesus called the Holy Spirit the "Paraclete." In the original Greek, this word means "one called alongside to help." It can be translated as Comforter, Counselor, Advocate, or Helper.
Think about a time when you felt completely overwhelmed and didn't know which way to turn. Jesus promised that we would never have to navigate those moments alone. The Holy Spirit is the one who:
Teaches us: He helps us understand the Bible and reminds us of God’s promises when we need them most.
Guides us: He provides a "still, small voice" that gives us direction in our decisions.
Comforts us: He brings a peace that doesn't make sense to the rest of the world, even in the middle of a storm.
If you are curious about how this fits into the broader picture of faith, you might find our post on what it means to be Pentecostal helpful. It dives deeper into how we view the Spirit's active role in the church today.

The Power to Live Differently
One of the core beliefs we hold at Boundless Online Church, aligned with the Assemblies of God 16 Fundamental Truths, is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
This isn't just a theological term; it’s an experience. We believe that all believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father: the baptism in the Holy Spirit. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church.
Why is this important? Because living a Christian life is hard to do on your own strength. In fact, it's impossible. We need "power from on high." The Holy Spirit gives us the boldness to share our faith, the strength to overcome temptation, and the spiritual gifts necessary to build up the church and help others.
This empowerment isn't just for "super-Christians" or people behind a pulpit. It is for the person working the 9-to-5, the parent trying to raise kind children in a chaotic world, and the seeker looking for genuine truth.
The Fruit of the Spirit: Character Transformation
While the Holy Spirit gives us power (gifts), He also works on our insides (fruit).
As we walk with Him, He begins to change our nature. We start to notice that we are a little more patient with that difficult coworker. We find a sense of joy even when things aren't going perfectly. This is the "Fruit of the Spirit."
It is a beautiful, organic process. You don't "try harder" to be joyful; you stay connected to the Spirit, and the joy grows naturally. If you’ve been feeling spiritually dry lately, perhaps the invitation today is simply to ask the Spirit to begin producing that fruit in you again.

Walking with the Spirit Every Day
The Holy Spirit isn't just for Sunday mornings. He is meant to be part of your Monday morning, your Wednesday afternoon, and your Friday night.
How do you "walk" with the Spirit?
Acknowledge Him: Start your day by saying, "Holy Spirit, I welcome You today. Guide my thoughts and my words."
Listen: Pay attention to those gentle nudges to pray for someone, to be generous, or to hold your tongue.
Read the Word: The Spirit wrote the Scriptures through human authors. When you read the Bible, ask Him to illuminate the words for you.

A Prayer for You
Holy Spirit, thank You for being my Helper. Thank You for never leaving me alone. I ask that You would fill me today with Your presence and Your power. Open my eyes to see the truth in Your Word and open my heart to hear Your voice. Help me to walk in love, joy, and peace. If I have been trying to live this life on my own strength, I surrender that now and ask for Your divine help. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
