First Things First

Why God Belongs at the Start of Your Day

Jesus said it plainly: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33, KJV)

Notice what that verse does not say. It does not say seek God only when life falls apart. It does not say seek Him after the work is done. It says first. Before the emails. Before the schedule. Before the stress.

Putting God first does not mean my day will be easy. It means my day will be anchored. When I begin by reading a little of His Word and talking with Him in prayer, I walk into everything else with a calmer heart. I am a better husband, a better father, and a better friend when I have spent time with the One who made me.

You do not need a perfect plan to start. Give God the first few minutes. Open your Bible to one chapter. Thank Him for one thing. Ask Him to lead you through the hours ahead. Small, faithful steps add up over time.

So tomorrow morning, before the noise starts, try this. Put first things first, and watch how God steadies the rest.

Closing Prayer: Lord, I want You to have the first place in my heart and my day. Help me seek You before anything else, and teach me to trust You with all the rest. In Jesus' name, amen.
