Tier 2 Men's Ministry
You can connect with other men of faith in the 901 by coming to Men’s Monthly Breakfast (first Saturday at 8:00 AM) and then getting involved through Men’s Ministry and Life Groups. Today (March 9) we also have a Pastoral Staff Meeting at 9:00 AM, and on Sundays we gather for Classes at 9:30 AM and Worship at 10:30 AM.
Definition Block: “Iron Sharpens Iron” Meaning: “Iron sharpening iron” comes from Proverbs 27:17—it’s the idea that God uses healthy, godly friendships to shape our character. Like iron tools getting sharper through contact, men grow through honest conversations, prayer, encouragement, and loving accountability rooted in Scripture.
Event | Date/Time | Focus |
Sunday Classes | Sundays at 9:30 AM | Biblical teaching + spiritual growth |
Sunday Worship | Sundays at 10:30 AM | Worship + preaching + response time |
Men’s Monthly Breakfast | 1st Saturday of each month, 8:00–9:00 AM | Brotherhood + encouragement + practical connection |
Finding Your Tribe in the Bluff City
Let’s be honest for a second: finding real, authentic connection as a man in the 21st century is surprisingly tough. We’ve got the 9-to-5 grind, the commute through Cordova or Bartlett, yard work on the weekends, and maybe, if we’re lucky, an hour to catch a game. But when it comes to having a group of guys who actually know what’s going on in your life? That’s a taller order than a double-stack burger at a local diner.
If you’re living in Memphis, Arlington, or anywhere in the 901, you know this city is built on grit and grind. But even the grittiest among us weren't meant to walk the path of faith alone. Whether you’ve been following Christ for decades or you’re just starting to kick the tires on this whole "church thing," you need a brotherhood. You need men who can sharpen you, pray for you, and, let’s be real, laugh with you over a plate of bacon.
At First Assembly Memphis, we believe that life is better in community. Our mission is to meet you exactly where you are and help you grow into the man God called you to be. That starts with showing up.
The Best Way to Start: The Men’s Monthly Breakfast
If you’re looking for a low-pressure, high-impact way to get plugged in, there is no better starting point than our Men’s Monthly Breakfast.
Here is the breakdown of what you need to know:
When: The 1st Saturday of each month.
Time: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM (We value your Saturday, so we get you in and out and ready to tackle the day).
Where: The Dining Room at First Assembly Memphis.
The Cost: Totally free.
The Food: A hot, hearty breakfast that beats anything you'd whip up at home.
Why do we do this? Because there is something biblical about breaking bread together. In the book of Acts, we see the early church constantly meeting, eating, and encouraging one another. We’re just keeping the tradition alive right here in the 901.

More Than Just Eggs and Bacon
Now, I know what you’re thinking. "I can get breakfast anywhere." And while that’s true, Memphis does have some killer breakfast spots, you won't find this kind of environment just anywhere.
The Men’s Monthly Breakfast isn't just about refueling your body; it’s about refueling your spirit. It’s a space where a guy from Cordova can sit next to a guy from Arlington and realize they’re dealing with the same pressures at work or the same struggles in leadership.
We keep the atmosphere casual. There are no nametags (unless you really want one), no forced awkward icebreakers, and no judgment. We come together as men of faith, or men seeking faith, to remind ourselves that we serve a God who is active in our city and our lives.
Why Brotherhood Matters (The Scriptural "So What?")
As an Assemblies of God community, we stand firmly on the authority of Scripture. Proverbs 27:17 tells us, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
Think about that for a second. Iron doesn't get sharp by sitting in a velvet-lined box. It gets sharp through contact. It gets sharp through heat and friction. In the same way, we don’t grow as Christians by isolating ourselves. We grow when we are in proximity to other men who are also striving to live by the 16 Fundamental Truths of our faith.
We believe in the power of Spirit-empowered living. When men gather to pray and support one another, the Holy Spirit moves. Whether you need a breakthrough in your marriage, wisdom for your business, or physical healing, there is strength in the collective prayer of a brotherhood.
Navigating the 901 as a Man of God
Living in Memphis comes with its own unique set of challenges and opportunities. From the bustle of the Wolfchase area to the quiet neighborhoods of Bartlett, our city needs men who are grounded in Christ.
When you connect with the Men’s Ministry at First Assembly, you aren't just joining a club. You’re joining a mission to see our community transformed. We want to be men who lead with integrity at our jobs, who love our families with sacrifice, and who represent the Gospel in every corner of the 901.

Beyond the Saturday Morning Plate
While the breakfast is our "front door," connection doesn't end when the clock hits 9:00 AM. Building these relationships often leads to:
Life Groups: Small groups that meet throughout the week to dive deeper into the Word. (Find your people here: Life Groups)
Men’s Ministry: Ongoing ways to connect, grow, and serve alongside other men. (Start here: Men’s Ministry)
Wednesday Nights: Mid-week refueling for the whole family (details vary—check the site for current info).
Serving Opportunities: Simple ways to put your faith into action and strengthen the 901 through practical love.
If you’re new to the area or new to the church, the best way to see what we’re about is to visit our I'm New page. And if you want the clearest “first look” at who we are, join us Sunday for Classes at 9:30 AM and Worship at 10:30 AM.
A Man’s Quest for Growth
We often talk about "Quests" here, small, actionable steps you can take to align your life with God’s purpose. If you’re reading this and feeling that nudge to connect, your quest for today is simple: Mark your calendar.
Open your phone right now. Go to the first Saturday of next month. Set a reminder for 7:45 AM. Type in "Breakfast at First Assembly."
That one small act of initiative could be the start of a friendship that lasts a lifetime. It could be the moment you find the mentor you’ve been looking for, or the moment you realize you have something valuable to offer another brother in Christ.

What If I’m Not "Religious" Enough?
Let’s clear this up right now: you don't have to have your life perfectly figured out to show up. None of us do. We are all works in progress, saved by grace through faith. Our church is a place for the "grit and grind" of real life.
If you have questions about the return of Christ, divine healing, or how the Holy Spirit works in your daily life, this is the place to ask them. We value biblical authority and holy character, but we also value honesty. And just to say it out loud: First Assembly Memphis isn’t perfect—but God is. Faith is a journey for all of us, and you can take your next step without pretending you’ve already arrived. You don't have to put on a mask when you walk into the Dining Room. Just bring your appetite and an open heart.
Join the Brotherhood
The invitation is open. The coffee will be hot. The bacon will be crispy. And the fellowship will be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
Whether you’re from the heart of Memphis or the outskirts of Arlington, you have a seat at our table. We believe you are a priceless child of God, and we want to help you walk the path He has set before you with strength and confidence.
We can’t wait to see you at the next Men’s Monthly Breakfast.
