How Can I Experience God's Power in My Daily Life?

You experience God's power daily by connecting to the Holy Spirit as your source, admitting your weakness, and choosing faith-based action. When you're filled with the Spirit each day, you gain supernatural wisdom, strength, peace, and joy beyond your natural abilities.
Listen, if you're leading a team at FedEx, running a business on Beale Street, or making decisions that impact the 901, you already know what it feels like to carry weight. You're used to being the one with answers, the problem-solver, the go-to person. But here's the thing: even the strongest leaders hit walls. Even movers and shakers need a power source that doesn't run dry.
That's why First Assembly Memphis exists, to help people in our community follow Jesus, grow as disciples, and live Spirit-empowered lives that strengthen families and serve Memphis.
Let me be straight with you: God's power isn't some mystical concept reserved for Sunday morning altar calls. It's practical. It's available. And it's meant to fuel your Monday morning meetings, your late-night strategy sessions, and every decision in between.
The Pentecostal Connection: Your Direct Line to Power
Here's where we get unapologetically Pentecostal about this. When you establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you're not just getting fire insurance for the afterlife. You're connecting to a power source that changes everything.
The Assemblies of God has always emphasized this: the baptism in the Holy Spirit is for believers today and empowers us to witness and live holy (Acts 1:8). It’s not about working harder or being more religious. It’s about being filled with the Spirit—yes, the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11)—so your everyday life is strengthened by God’s power.

When you're filled with the Spirit, you're not operating on willpower anymore. You're tapping into a supernatural strength that gives you:
Wisdom you shouldn't naturally have when facing complex decisions
Strength when you're running on empty and the week isn't even half over
Peace when your anxiety should be through the roof
Joy when circumstances say you should be stressed out
This isn't positive thinking. This is Pentecostal reality.
Start With Honest Weakness
I know this sounds backwards for leaders, but here's the truth bomb: experiencing God's power starts when you stop pretending you've got it all together.
In Memphis, we value hustle. We respect the grind. But God's kingdom operates on a different economy. His power shows up strongest when you admit you're weak.
You don't have to muscle through every challenge alone. You're not supposed to have all the answers. And that project that's keeping you up at night? God's power can help you advance through it, not just barely survive it.
This is where faith-based action comes in. According to Scripture, God supplies power according to your faith. When you choose God's way in faith, even when it doesn't make business sense, God responds with strength and power. It's a real connection at work, not theory.
Fill Up Daily (Because You're Leaking)
Here's what I've learned leading in ministry: you can't coast on yesterday's encounter with God. Just like your phone needs charging every night, you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit every single day.

Being filled with the Spirit daily isn't complicated:
Start your morning with connection, not email. Give God 10 minutes before you check your notifications. Read a passage of Scripture. Pray in the Spirit. Let Him set the tone for your day.
Invite the Holy Spirit into your decisions. Before that big meeting or tough conversation, pause and ask for supernatural wisdom. The Spirit is a counselor, use that resource.
Replace anxiety with worship. When stress hits (and in the 901, it will), shift from panic to praise. Put on worship music during your commute. Speak Scripture over your situation.
This daily filling is what gives you the edge. It's what lets you lead with patience when everyone around you is losing it. It's what gives you creative solutions that weren't there five minutes ago.
Apply Grace Like a Power Tool
God's grace isn't just about forgiveness (though that's huge). Grace is practical power for transformation. It's the tool that actually changes you from the inside out.
Think about areas where you're stuck:
That anger that flares up in traffic or tense meetings
The habit you can't seem to break
The relationship pattern that keeps repeating
The insecurity that holds you back from the next level
Grace provides:
Power for godly living (transforming character, not just managing behavior)
Strength beyond your limits (doing what you couldn't do on your own)
Sufficiency for every challenge (God's "more than enough" when your resources run out)
Here's how to apply it: Identify one specific area where you need transformation this week. Instead of trying harder, pray specifically, "God, I need Your grace, Your power, to change this in me." Then watch what happens when you partner your faith with His supernatural ability.
The Memphis Advantage
Living in Memphis, you’re not meant to do life alone. You’ve got real people, real pressure, and real needs—and God still meets real people with real power.
That’s why community matters here. Whether it’s Life Groups, Wednesday night dinners, The Journey, or serving through FACS, being connected puts faith into motion. When you’re struggling, someone can pray with you. When you’re winning, you can help pull somebody else up. That’s Spirit-empowered living in real life.
Three Shifts That Change Everything
Remember: It's Not About Earning God's power isn't a reward for perfect behavior. You can't work hard enough to deserve it. It's a gift activated by faith and received in relationship. Stop trying to impress God and start connecting with Him.
Stay Humble and Growing The moment you think you've "arrived" spiritually is the moment you stop experiencing fresh power. The leaders who impact the 901 most are the ones who stay hungry for more of God. There's always another level of intimacy, another dimension of power available.
Release the Past Your history doesn't define your potential. Past mistakes, failures, or seasons of weakness don't disqualify you from experiencing God's power now. The beauty of grace is that today is a new day. God's mercies are fresh this Monday morning.

Real Power for Real Life
Look, trials are coming. If you're a leader, you know this. The question isn't whether you'll face pressure, it's whether you'll have the power to overcome it.
God's power enables you to:
Handle the struggles of daily leadership
Overcome hurts from your past that still affect you
Break cycles that have held your family for generations
Make decisions with supernatural wisdom
Lead with grace under pressure
Live with joy despite circumstances
Rather than living a weak or barely-getting-by life, you can have God's power working in you to accomplish what you need to do. That's the promise. That's the Pentecostal reality we're contending for.
This isn't about being super-spiritual or checking religious boxes. It's about being a leader in Memphis who walks in supernatural power every single day, in the boardroom, at home, in your community, and everywhere God has placed you.
The power is available. The connection is real. The only question is: will you tap in?
