Kids can learn to hear God’s quiet voice by practicing short “still moments” (even just 30 seconds), noticing peace in their hearts, and remembering that God is near in both loud and quiet places.
Finding time for quiet can feel like a bit of a treasure hunt, especially when you have little ones running around!
At Boundless Online Church, we believe that teaching children to recognize God’s presence isn’t just for Sunday mornings—it’s for the messy, loud, and wonderful moments of everyday life.
This week, we are thrilled to share a brand-new resource for your family library.
"God's Quiet Voice" is a 24-page journey designed for early childhood (ages 3–6). It follows a young boy named Sam as he looks for God in the middle of a very noisy world, only to find Him in the most peaceful of places.
Grab a cozy blanket, find a soft chair, and enjoy this story with your little ones.

Parent Devotional: Finding God in the Whisper
As parents, we often think we need to create "big" moments for our kids to experience God: huge worship concerts, dramatic stories, or mountain-top experiences.
But as we see in the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19, God wasn't in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire. He was in the "gentle whisper."
For a child, the world is a sensory explosion. Everything is loud, new, and fast.
By teaching them to "find the quiet," we are helping them develop the habit of Faith and Discipleship. We are teaching them that the Holy Spirit is a Comforter who is as close as their next breath.

Parent Discussion Guide
The Heart of the Story This story helps children understand that while God is powerful enough to make the thunder, He is also gentle enough to speak to our hearts in the quiet. It builds a sense of Safety, Wonder, and Comfort.
Theological Roots (AG Truth Tagging)
The Nearness of God: We believe God is omnipresent and desires a personal relationship with us.
The Holy Spirit: We recognize the Holy Spirit as our Helper who speaks to our spirits.
Discussion Questions
Prayer Closer "Dear God, thank You for being so big and powerful, but also so kind and gentle. Help us to listen for Your quiet voice today. When the world gets loud, remind us that You are right here in our hearts. We love You. Amen."
Hands-On Faith: The "Listening Jar" Craft
This simple craft helps children visualize the "noise" of life settling down so they can find the quiet.
Materials Needed:
A clean glass or plastic jar with a lid Water Glitter (gold or silver works best) Glycerine or clear dish soap (optional, to make the glitter fall slower)
Spiritual Connection Script: "See all this glitter? This is like all the noise in Sam's day: the spoons, the cars, and the shouting. When we shake the jar, it's very busy! But watch what happens when we set the jar down and stay still. The glitter slowly rests at the bottom. The water becomes clear. This is like our hearts when we take a 'quiet moment' with God. We let the noise settle so we can see Him more clearly."
Instructions: 1. Fill the jar almost to the top with water. 2. Add a few drops of glycerine or dish soap. 3. Pour in the glitter. 4. Secure the lid tightly (you may want to use glue to keep it shut). 5. Practice shaking it and then sitting in silence until every piece of glitter has reached the bottom.
We hope this story and these resources bring a sense of peace to your home this week.
