Wednesday Wonder | Looking For Divine Healing? | 10 Things You Should Know
Divine healing is the supernatural work of God restoring health to the human body and mind through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Seeking divine healing involves connecting with faith-filled community, understanding the biblical basis for restoration, and staying open to the transformative work of Jesus Christ today.
Exodus 15:26 (NIV): "He said, 'If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.'"
James 5:14-15 (NIV): "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up."
Isaiah 53:5 (NIV): "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed."
Seeking healing is one of the most personal journeys a person can undertake.
Whether you are dealing with a physical ailment, emotional trauma, or a spiritual heaviness, the search for divine healing often brings you to a crossroads of faith and expectation.
It’s vital to stay rooted in Scripture as we seek God’s help. At Boundless Online Church, I believe the Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails. This means I trust the 16 Fundamental Truths, which teach that divine healing is provided in the atonement of Christ (while also recognizing God is sovereign and our ultimate hope is the final resurrection).
Here are 10 essential things you should know when looking for divine healing.
1. Divine Healing is Part of the Gospel
Healing isn’t just a “side gift” of the Christian faith; it is woven into the very fabric of the Gospel.
When Jesus died on the cross, He didn’t just provide a way for our sins to be forgiven—He also made a way for our whole lives to be restored under His lordship.
Scripture (including Isaiah 53 and the Gospel accounts of Jesus healing the sick) shows God’s heart to heal. When you seek healing, you aren’t asking for a favor that God is hesitant to give; you are leaning into God’s compassion and Christ’s finished work—while trusting God’s timing and wisdom.
2. The Power of Holy Spirit Baptism
One of the most transformative experiences in a believer's life is the Holy Spirit Baptism. This isn't just about a feeling; it’s about empowerment. In the book of Acts, we see that the Spirit gave the early believers the power to witness and the power to see miracles manifest. When seeking divine healing, being filled with the Spirit provides an inner strength and a direct connection to the "Comforter" who guides us into all truth. It shifts our perspective from our symptoms to God's sovereignty.

3. Look for Bible-Rooted, Spirit-Filled Ministry
One of the best things you can do when you’re seeking healing is to get around believers who love Scripture, welcome the work of the Holy Spirit, and will pray with faith and compassion.
Church community matters because corporate prayer and the laying on of hands are biblical patterns for seeking God’s touch (James 5:14–15).
4. Integrating Faith and Medical Care
I believe all healing comes from God, but He often uses different channels.
While I pray for miracles, I also thank God for the wisdom He gives to medical professionals. It is never “lack of faith” to seek medical help; it can be faithful stewardship of the body God gave you.
I celebrate the miracle of biological recovery just as much as a supernatural touch.
5. The Importance of Emotional and Mental Healing
Healing is often holistic. Sometimes our bodies are reacting to stress and trauma held in our minds and spirits.
Faith-informed counseling can be a wise next step alongside prayer. When we address the roots of our pain through the lens of Scripture, we open doors for the Holy Spirit to bring deep restoration.
6. Protecting Your Environment
When you are in a season of seeking healing, what you consume matters. Your digital environment can either build your faith or feed your anxiety. I always recommend that families use tools like VidAngel or "Enjoy Movies Your Way" to filter out content that might be jarring or contrary to a spirit of peace. Furthermore, protecting your home from digital distractions is key. For online safety and accountability, I highly recommend Bark and Covenant Eyes. These tools help ensure that your home remains a sanctuary where you can focus on God’s Word without the intrusion of the world’s noise.
7. The Role of Community Prayer
You were never meant to carry your burdens alone.
The scriptural mandate in James 5 is to “call for the elders.” Whether you join a local church where you live or connect with us online at Boundless Online Church, the power of agreement is real.
When two or three are gathered in His name, He is there in the midst. Our online prayer walls and live chat sessions are designed to give you that community of support, no matter where you’re physically located.

8. Healing is a Process and a Promise
Sometimes healing is instantaneous, a miracle that defies all medical logic. Other times, it is a process of recovery and sanctification. Both are works of God. We must hold onto the "already but not yet" nature of God's Kingdom. While we are promised healing through the atonement, we also live in a fallen world awaiting final redemption. This tension requires us to keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, trusting His timing and His heart.
9. Science and the Wonder of Creation
On this Wednesday Wonder, let’s consider the incredible way God designed our bodies to heal. From the way our skin knits back together to the way our immune system identifies and fights intruders, the biological process of healing is a miracle in itself. Science is simply the study of how God put the world together. When we look at the complexity of a single cell, we see the fingerprints of a Creator who cares about every detail of our physical existence. God is the Great Physician, both in the operating room and in the prayer room.
10. Stay Grounded in the Word
The most important thing to know is that your faith must be built on the Rock, not on your feelings. Symptoms may change, and days may be hard, but the Word of God remains forever. Diving into a deep Bible study helps you understand the character of God. When you know He is a good Father, you can trust Him even when the road to healing feels long. He has not forgotten you, you are not alone, and you are deeply loved by Him.

Lord Jesus, I come before You today lifting up every person seeking Your healing touch.
I thank You that by Your stripes we are healed. I ask the Holy Spirit to bring comfort to the hurting, strength to the weary, and restoration—whether that healing comes instantly or through a process.
Give us faith to trust Your promises, wisdom to use the resources You provide, and peace to rest in Your love. May Your name be glorified through every testimony of wholeness. Amen.
