Miracles Today

We live in an age where everything has an explanation.
A Google search. A scientific study. A logical answer.
But what happens when something defies every explanation we have?
What do we call it when a mother's prayer brings her drowned son back to life: after the doctors have given up?
We call it what it is: a miracle.
And they're still happening today.
God Hasn't Changed
The same God who parted the Red Sea is still at work.
The same Jesus who healed the blind still opens eyes.
The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead still breathes life into impossible situations.
Hebrews 13:8 reminds us: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
That means the miracles we read about in Scripture aren't just ancient history.
They're present reality.

Real Stories from Real People
Let's talk about some modern-day miracles that have been documented and verified.
A Teenage Boy Brought Back to Life
A teenager drowned and was rushed to the emergency room.
The medical team worked frantically, but hope was fading fast.
His mother refused to give up.
She prayed over him in that ER with everything she had.
And against all medical odds, he came back to life.
Doctors had no scientific explanation.
His mother knew exactly what happened: God answered prayer.
The Voice That Led to Rescue
An 18-month-old baby was trapped in an overturned car in the water.
Police officers arrived at the scene.
They heard a mysterious adult female voice calling for help, guiding them to the vehicle.
They rescued the baby.
But here's the thing: the child's mother had been deceased for 14 hours.
Whose voice did they hear?
Officers couldn't explain it.
But the baby was saved.

Walking After 18 Years in a Wheelchair
Ema McKinley suffered from a painful condition called reflex sympathetic dystrophy for 18 years.
She'd been in a wheelchair since 1993 after a workplace fall.
On Christmas Eve 2011, she says Jesus appeared to her and healed her.
The next morning, she walked out of her wheelchair.
For the first time since 1993.
Medical records documented her condition before and the dramatic change after.
No medical intervention explained the healing.
Healing from Permanent Paralysis
Sister Bernadette Moriau, 79 years old, suffered from cauda equina syndrome: a spinal nerve compression that typically causes permanent leg paralysis.
During a pilgrimage to Lourdes in 2008, she was healed.
Doctors had said her condition was irreversible.
But she walked again.
Religious authorities authenticated her healing after extensive medical review.
Miracles in Everyday Places
Not every miracle makes headlines.
Some happen quietly in hospital rooms, living rooms, and prayer closets.
A child who shouldn't have survived: thriving today.
A marriage on the brink of divorce: restored and stronger than ever.
An addiction that held someone captive for years: broken in a moment of surrender.
A financial crisis with no way out: provision that arrived at exactly the right time.

These stories don't always get documented or verified by medical boards.
But they're just as real.
And they point to the same truth: God is still at work.
Why Miracles Still Matter
In our digital age, we're drowning in information.
We can fact-check anything in seconds.
We analyze. We scrutinize. We explain.
And that's not a bad thing.
But miracles remind us that there's more to reality than what we can measure.
They point us beyond ourselves to a God who is greater than our understanding.
They break through our cynicism and invite us to believe again.
They whisper hope into impossible situations.
Miracles show us God's character.
He's compassionate: moved by our pain and suffering.
He's powerful: able to do what seems impossible.
He's present: actively involved in our lives.
He's personal: He cares about the details that matter to us.
What About When We Don't See Miracles?
Here's the honest truth: not everyone who prays for a miracle receives one.
At least not in the way they expected.
We live in a broken world where sickness, suffering, and death are still realities.
God hasn't promised to remove every hardship from our lives.
But He has promised to be with us in the middle of it.
And sometimes the miracle isn't the healing.
Sometimes it's the peace that surpasses understanding in the hospital room.
Sometimes it's the strength to endure another day.
Sometimes it's the hope that refuses to die even when circumstances are dark.

Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 12 about a "thorn in the flesh" he prayed for God to remove three times.
God's answer? "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
That's a different kind of miracle.
The miracle of grace when we don't get the answer we wanted.
How to Recognize Miracles in Your Life
Miracles aren't always dramatic.
Sometimes they're subtle.
Here's how to keep your eyes open:
Pay attention to timing. When provision, help, or answers arrive at exactly the right moment: that's often God at work.
Notice the "coincidences." When the same message, Scripture, or encouragement comes from multiple unrelated sources: God might be speaking.
Watch for peace in chaos. When you have unexplainable calm in circumstances that should devastate you: that's supernatural.
Track answered prayers. Keep a record of what you pray for and how God responds. You'll be amazed when you look back.
Listen to your story. The fact that you're still here, still believing, still pushing forward: that might be the miracle.
The Greatest Miracle of All
The greatest miracle isn't physical healing or provision.
It's spiritual transformation.
When a heart that was dead in sin comes alive in Christ: that's the ultimate miracle.
When someone who was lost finds their way home to the Father: that's supernatural intervention.
When a life is completely changed by the power of the Gospel: that's evidence of God's power that can't be explained away.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
That's a miracle available to everyone.
Not dependent on circumstances.
Not limited by medical diagnosis.
Not reserved for a select few.
Just available. For anyone who believes.

Keep Believing
In a world that wants to explain everything away, keep making space for wonder.
Keep praying bold prayers.
Keep believing that God can do the impossible.
Keep watching for His hand at work.
And when you see it: when you witness something that can only be explained by divine intervention: don't keep it to yourself.
Share your story.
Your testimony might be exactly what someone else needs to hear to keep believing.
Because miracles today point to the same truth they've always pointed to:
God is real.
God is present.
God is powerful.
And He's still at work in our modern, digital, complicated world.
