Have you ever felt like you were made for something more?
We all have those moments.
Maybe you’re looking at a sunset and feel a tug in your chest.
Maybe you’re sitting in a hospital waiting room and your heart cries out that things shouldn't be this way.
The truth is, you’re right.
Things weren't meant to be this way.
And one day, they won’t be.
At Boundless Online Church, we talk a lot about hope.
Not a "fingers crossed" kind of hope.
But a "certainty in the future" kind of hope.
Today, we’re looking at what the Bible calls the New Heavens and the New Earth.
This is the final destination.
This is the "happily ever after" that isn't a fairy tale.
It’s the 16th Fundamental Truth of the Assemblies of God.
It’s the promise that God is going to fix everything that is broken.
A World Without a Curse
The world we live in now is beautiful, but it’s heavy.
We deal with sickness.
We deal with loss.
We deal with the constant static of stress and anxiety.
In the Bible, this is called the "curse."
It’s the result of humanity walking away from God’s design.
But God has a plan to hit the reset button.
He isn't just going to patch up the old world.
He is going to bring about a new one.
The Apostle Peter wrote about this.
He said we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth.
A place where "righteousness dwells."
Imagine a world where doing the right thing is the natural instinct.
Imagine a world where there is no more "wrong."
That is our final home.

Heaven Coming Down
Often, when people think about the afterlife, they think of clouds.
They think of ghosts floating around in a hazy, white space.
But that’s not what the Bible describes.
The Bible describes a very physical future.
In the book of Revelation, the writer sees a "New Jerusalem" coming down out of heaven.
It’s a city. It has gates. It has streets.
It has a river and trees.
The New Heavens and New Earth aren't about us leaving earth to go somewhere else forever.
It’s about Heaven coming down to meet a renewed Earth.
God’s goal has always been to live with His people.
In the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, God walked with Adam and Eve.
In the end, He does it again.
The distance between God and man will be gone.
No more veils. No more doubt.
Just presence.
No More Tears
There is a verse in Revelation 21 that is perhaps the most comforting sentence ever written.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes."
Think about that for a second.
God Himself reaches out to dry your eyes.
The text continues:
"There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain."
The "former things" have passed away.
For the shift worker who is exhausted, there is rest.
For the caregiver who is burnt out, there is renewal.
For those living in fear or persecution, there is absolute safety.
This isn't just a nice thought to get us through the day.
It is the finish line of history.

What Will We Do There?
A lot of people worry that eternity sounds... well, boring.
Strumming harps on a cloud for a billion years?
That doesn't sound like a home.
It sounds like a long waiting room.
But the New Earth is a place of activity.
The Bible says we will "reign" with Christ.
That implies responsibility.
It implies creativity and work that actually matters.
Imagine working on a project without the frustration of it breaking.
Imagine creating art without the fear of it being rejected.
Imagine exploring a universe that is no longer dying.
We will have glorified bodies.
Bodies that don't get tired.
Bodies that don't get sick.
We will eat. We will talk. We will laugh.
It will be the most "alive" we have ever been.
It’s not an escape from reality.
It is the arrival of true reality.
Why Does This Matter Now?
You might be thinking, "That sounds great, Penny, but I have bills to pay tomorrow."
"I have a doctor's appointment I'm scared of."
"How does a 'new earth' help me right now?"
It helps because it gives us a perspective that the world can't take away.
When you know the end of the story, the middle becomes easier to handle.
If this life is all there is, then every tragedy is a permanent disaster.
But if the New Heavens and New Earth are coming, then every tragedy is temporary.
Even death itself becomes a "see you later" instead of a "goodbye."
Knowing our destination changes how we walk the path.
It allows us to be generous because we know we have an eternal inheritance.
It allows us to be brave because the worst the world can do is send us home early.
It allows us to be patient with others because we know God is making all things new.

Meeting Jesus Face to Face
The best part of the New Heavens and New Earth isn't the gold streets or the lack of pain.
The best part is Jesus.
We will see Him.
Not through a book. Not through a screen.
Not through a feeling in our hearts.
We will see Him face to face.
The One who created us.
The One who loved us enough to die for us.
The One who has been with us every step of the way, even when we couldn't feel Him.
Being in His presence is what makes it "Heaven."
Without Him, it would just be another planet.
With Him, it is home.
Are You Ready for Home?
This promise is for everyone who puts their trust in Jesus.
It’s an invitation to a party that never ends.
It’s an invitation to a family that will never be broken.
If you’re feeling lost or overwhelmed today, remember the destination.
The struggle is real, but it isn't the end.
God is a restorer.
He loves to take things that are broken and make them better than they were before.
He’s doing that in your life now, and He will do it for the whole world soon.
If you want to know more about this hope, we are here for you.
We are all just walking each other home.
We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online.
Whether you are a seeker, a skeptic, or a long-time believer, there is a place for you here.
Don't carry the weight of the world on your own.
The One who made the world is already working on the new one.
