Online Church: The Ask Anything Chat

I remember the first time I had a "stupid question" about faith. I was sitting in a church pew, listening to a sermon about prayer, and I genuinely wondered: What if God doesn't hear me because I don't say it the right way? I was too embarrassed to ask. I thought everyone around me had it all figured out, and I'd look foolish admitting I didn't even know how to pray "correctly."

That question sat in my head for months. And you know what? It wasn't stupid at all. It was honest. It was real. And it deserved an answer.

That's why one of the most powerful tools we've built at Boundless is something I'm calling the Ask Anything Chat: a safe, anonymous space where you can bring your hardest, weirdest, most embarrassing questions about faith and get honest, judgment-free answers.

Because here's the truth: There are no stupid questions when it comes to knowing God.

Why We Need a Safe Space for Hard Questions

Let's be real for a second. Most of us have questions we're afraid to ask out loud. Maybe it's because we think we should already know the answer. Maybe it's because we're afraid someone will judge us for doubting. Or maybe we've been burned before: we asked a question and got a condescending response that made us feel small.

But faith isn't supposed to work that way. Jesus didn't roll His eyes at Thomas for doubting. He showed him the nail scars in His hands. He met him right where he was. That's the kind of space we want to create at Boundless.

Here's what makes the Ask Anything Chat different:

It's anonymous. You don't have to put your name on your question. You can ask without fear of being "outed" or judged by people who know you.

It's live. During our scheduled windows, a trained mentor is there in real-time to respond. You're not waiting days for an email reply: you're getting connection now.

It's honest. We don't give you churchy platitudes or pat answers. We meet you in the mess and walk with you toward the light.

It's free. Like everything at Boundless, this is opt-in, free, and available to anyone, anywhere in the world. No strings attached.

The Questions People Really Want to Ask

Over the years, I've heard some incredible questions from people who were brave enough to speak up. Here are a few (paraphrased to protect privacy):

  • "If God loves me, why did He let my mom die?"

  • "I've done some really bad things. Can God still forgive me, or is it too late?"

  • "How do I know the Bible is true and not just a really old book?"

  • "I'm angry at God. Does that make me a bad Christian?"

  • "What if I don't feel anything when I pray?"

These aren't trivial questions. They're soul-deep. And they deserve thoughtful, compassionate answers: not a lecture or a spiritual Band-Aid.

What Happens When You Ask

Here's how the Ask Anything Chat works at Boundless:

Step 1: Jump In During Our Live Window We host the Ask Anything Chat during specific weekly time slots (currently testing Tuesday and Thursday evenings, but check our live chat schedule at www.boundlessonlinechurch.org for the latest times). When the window is open, you'll see a "Join the Chat" button on our website.

Step 2: Ask Your Question Anonymously Type your question into the chat. You can use a nickname or stay completely anonymous: it's your call. No one will see your real name unless you choose to share it.

Step 3: Get a Real, Thoughtful Response One of our trained mentors will respond to you in real-time. We're not AI bots (though we love technology!). We're real people who care about your journey and want to help you find answers rooted in Scripture and grace.

Step 4: Keep the Conversation Going (If You Want) If your question needs a longer conversation, we can connect you with a pastor or a prayer team member who can walk with you over time. You're never just a "one-and-done" question to us. You're family.

The Power of Honest Doubt

One of my favorite verses is Mark 9:24, where a father brings his sick son to Jesus and says, "I believe; help my unbelief!" (ESV). That's one of the most honest prayers in the Bible. He's saying, "Jesus, I want to trust You, but I'm struggling. Help me."

And Jesus doesn't scold him. He heals the boy.

God isn't afraid of your questions. He isn't threatened by your doubts. In fact, I believe He welcomes them, because honest questions are the first step toward honest faith.

When you ask your question: whether it's about suffering, sin, science, or salvation: you're not showing weakness. You're showing courage. You're saying, "I want to understand. I want to grow. I want to know the truth."

And that's exactly the kind of heart God loves to meet.

A Tuesday Tip for You

Since it's Tuesday, here's your actionable tip for the week: Write down one question you've been afraid to ask about faith. Just one. Put it on a sticky note, type it in your phone, or scribble it in a journal. Then bring it to the Ask Anything Chat this week.

You don't have to have it all figured out. You don't have to sound spiritual. You just have to be honest.

That question you're carrying? It's not a burden. It's a doorway. And on the other side of that door is a God who loves you enough to give you real answers, and a community that's ready to walk with you every step of the way.

You're Never Forgotten, Never Alone

Here's the heart of what I want you to know: You are never forgotten. You are never alone. You are deeply, fiercely loved by God. And no question you could ever ask will change that.

God isn't waiting for you to get your theology perfect before He welcomes you home. He's already got the door open. He's already calling your name. And He's already making space at the table for you.

So come as you are. Bring your questions, your doubts, your fears, and your hopes. We're here. And we're ready to help you find the answers you've been searching for.

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7, NIV)
