Sometimes the deepest wounds aren't the ones we can see. They're the ones we carry in our hearts, the hurt from broken relationships, the grief from loss, the pain from disappointments that shook us to our core. If that's where you find yourself today, I want you to know something important: you are not alone, you are never forgotten, and you are deeply loved by God.
Welcome home, friend. Today’s post is about healing from within, a journey that starts with acknowledging the pain and ends with discovering that God has been working on your restoration all along.
Psalm 147:3
Let's start where all true healing begins, in the Word of God.
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." (Psalm 147:3 NIV)
Read that again. Let it sink deep into your spirit.
This isn't a suggestion or a possibility. It's a promise. The same God who created the universe, who counts the stars and calls them each by name (Psalm 147:4), is intimately concerned with the state of your heart. He sees every crack, every scar, every hidden tear you've cried when no one else was watching.
The Hebrew word for "brokenhearted" in this verse is shabar leb, literally meaning "shattered in heart." God doesn't just work with minor fractures. He specializes in the completely shattered pieces. And the word for "binds up" suggests careful, loving attention, like a physician tenderly wrapping a wound with bandages.
Three Truths from This Verse
1. God Sees Your Pain You might feel invisible in your suffering, but God sees every tear. Psalm 56:8 tells us He collects our tears in a bottle. Your pain matters to Him.
2. God Moves Toward the Broken He doesn't wait for you to have it all together. He comes to you in your brokenness. That's the beauty of His grace.
3. Healing Is His Nature This isn't something God does reluctantly. Healing flows from who He is. It's His heart, His character, His joy to restore you.
Reflection Questions
What areas of your heart feel broken or wounded today?
Can you trust God with those shattered pieces?
How might your perspective change if you truly believed God is actively healing you right now?
Take a few moments to sit with these questions. Journal your thoughts. Pray through them. Healing isn't always instant, sometimes it's a journey. But every step with God is a step toward wholeness.
Emotional Journaling
Here's a practical tip that can transform how you process pain: Emotional Journaling.

The concept is simple but powerful. Spend just 10 minutes writing down your feelings, not to analyze them, not to fix them, but simply to acknowledge them and let them go.
How to Practice Emotional Journaling
Step 1: Set a Timer Commit to 10 minutes. That's it. This isn't about writing a novel, it's about creating space for your emotions.
Step 2: Write Without Filtering Don't worry about grammar, spelling, or making sense. Just let the words flow. Write whatever comes to mind about how you're feeling.
Step 3: Be Honest This is between you and God. You can be angry, sad, confused, or hopeful. All emotions are valid.
Step 4: Release It When you're done, take a breath. Some people find it helpful to pray over what they've written, symbolically handing those feelings to God. Others might close the journal and leave it there. The point is to externalize what's internal.
Why This Works
Research shows that expressive writing helps reduce stress, process trauma, and improve emotional well-being. But as believers, we know there's something even more powerful happening. When we put our pain into words, we're bringing it into the light. And 1 John 1:7 tells us that walking in the light brings fellowship, healing, and cleansing.
You don't have to carry everything inside. Write it down. Give it to God. Watch Him work.
Media Reflection: "The Shack"
If you're looking for a film that explores the journey of healing, forgiveness, and wrestling with grief, "The Shack" (2017) may be a meaningful watch for some viewers.

Based on William P. Young's bestselling novel, the movie follows Mack Phillips (played by Sam Worthington), a father devastated by an unimaginable tragedy, the abduction and murder of his youngest daughter. Drowning in grief and questioning everything he believed about God, Mack receives a mysterious invitation to return to the shack where the tragedy occurred.
What he finds there changes everything.
Key Themes That Resonate
1. God Meets Us in Our Darkest Places The shack represents Mack's greatest pain. Yet that's exactly where God shows up. This mirrors Psalm 23:4, even in the valley of the shadow of death, He is with us.
2. Healing Requires Honesty Mack doesn't pretend to be okay. He yells, he questions, he wrestles. And God doesn't flinch. He can handle your honest emotions too.
3. Forgiveness Sets Us Free One of the most powerful moments in the film is when Mack must confront the need to forgive, not for the other person's sake, but for his own healing. Unforgiveness is a chain that keeps us bound to our pain.
4. God's Love Is Personal and Present The film portrays a God who knows Mack intimately, his fears, his doubts, his deepest wounds. This is the same God who knows you.
This story can open honest conversations about pain, forgiveness, and how people imagine God's presence in suffering. As with any Christian media, compare every message with Scripture and hold fast to what is true about God's character as revealed in His Word.
Your Daily Affirmation
Here's something I want you to speak over yourself today, and every day this week:
"God is healing my heart and restoring my soul every single day."

Say it out loud. Write it on a sticky note. Set it as a reminder on your phone. Let this truth sink deep into your spirit.
Healing isn't always a one-time event. Sometimes it's a daily process, moment by moment, breath by breath, God is doing a restorative work in you. Even when you can't feel it, He's working. Even when progress seems slow, He's moving.
You are being healed. You are being restored. And one day, you'll look back and see just how far He's brought you.
