A Message from FA Memphis
Ever feel like the world is spinning just a little bit faster than it used to?
If you turn on the news or scroll through your social feed, it’s easy to feel a sense of unease. There is a lot of noise out there. But for those of us following Jesus, this season of history isn’t a reason to panic. Instead, it’s a reason to look up.
In the Bible, this perspective is called "The Blessed Hope." It’s the confident, joyful expectation that Jesus Christ is coming back. It’s not a "maybe" or a "wishful thought." It is a certainty that anchors our souls when the waves of life get choppy.
At Boundless Online Church, we believe that understanding the signs of the times isn’t about building a bunker; it’s about building a legacy of faith and reaching as many people as possible with the good news.
What Exactly is the Blessed Hope?
The phrase comes from the book of Titus, where the Apostle Paul writes:
"For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope: the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ." (Titus 2:11-13)
When the Bible uses the word "hope," it doesn’t mean "I hope it doesn't rain today." It means a "glad assurance."
Think of it like a traveler waiting for a loved one at the airport. You aren't worried that the plane doesn't exist; you are watching the arrivals gate with excitement because you know they are on their way.

Recognizing the Signs
Jesus was very clear that no one knows the exact day or hour of His return (Matthew 24:36). Anyone who tries to give you a specific date is straying from what the Bible teaches. However, Jesus did tell us to pay attention to the seasons. He spoke about "signs of the times" that would serve as birth pains: indicators that the culmination of God’s plan is drawing near.
Here are a few biblical signs that help us stay alert:
1. Global Uncertainty and Natural Shifts
In Matthew 24, Jesus mentions wars, rumors of wars, famines, and earthquakes. While these have occurred throughout history, the Bible suggests an increase in frequency and intensity. For us, these aren’t just headlines; they are reminders that the current state of the world is temporary.
2. The Reach of the Gospel
One of the most significant signs Jesus mentioned was this: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" (Matthew 24:14).
This is where technology and the digital age become so vital. Through Boundless Online Church, we are seeing the Gospel reach corners of the earth that were previously closed. Whether you are a late-shift worker, living in a remote area, or someone seeking truth from your living room, the message of Jesus is available to you right now.
3. A Shift in Culture
The Apostle Paul told Timothy that in the "last days," people would become lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, and without love (2 Timothy 3:1-5). We see these tensions in our modern culture every day. Recognizing this helps us guard our hearts and choose a different path: a path of kindness, humility, and discipleship.
Why This is Good News
If we only look at the "scary" parts of the end times, we miss the point. The return of Jesus is the ultimate "fix" for everything that is broken in our world.
Resurrection and Transformation The Blessed Hope includes the promise that those who have passed away in Christ will be raised, and those who are alive will be caught up together with them to meet the Lord. This is a core belief within our Assemblies of God heritage: the "imminent" return of Christ. It means our physical limitations, our pain, and our grief are not the end of the story.
The Restoration of All Things We live in a world marred by injustice and suffering. The return of Christ means the beginning of a kingdom where there is no more crying, no more death, and no more pain. That is something to be incredibly excited about!

How Should We Live Right Now?
Knowing that Jesus is coming back shouldn’t make us passivity. It should make us productive. If you knew a guest was coming to your house in an hour, you’d probably start tidying up, right?
