Welcome to Day 6.
Today we're talking about something that changed everything for the early church.
And it's still changing lives today.
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
More Than Just Salvation
Here's what trips people up:
The Holy Spirit comes into your life when you're saved. That's true.
But there's more.
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a second experience. A distinct moment. A fresh empowerment.
Think of it like this: When you get saved, the Holy Spirit moves in. When you're baptized in the Spirit, He fills every room.
Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem for "power from on high" (Luke 24:49). These were already believers. Already saved. Already following Jesus.
But they needed something more for what was ahead.
What the Bible Says
Let's look at the evidence.
Acts 2 - The day of Pentecost. The disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other tongues. This kicked off the church as we know it.
Acts 8 - Philip preached in Samaria. People got saved and baptized in water. But Peter and John came later to pray for them to receive the Holy Spirit. It was a separate experience.
Acts 10 - Cornelius and his household heard Peter preach. While he was still talking, the Holy Spirit fell on them. They spoke in tongues. Peter recognized it immediately.
Acts 19 - Paul found some disciples in Ephesus. They'd been baptized but hadn't received the Holy Spirit yet. Paul laid hands on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
Notice the pattern?
Salvation happens. Then the baptism in the Holy Spirit happens. And there's evidence: speaking in tongues.

Why It Matters
This isn't about being super-spiritual or having a second-class Christianity without it.
It's about power.
Power to witness. Power to serve. Power to live out your faith with boldness.
Jesus said, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses" (Acts 1:8).
That power is real.
It's for:
The shy person who never knows what to say about Jesus.
The burnt-out believer who's trying to serve God in their own strength.
The spiritual seeker who knows there has to be more than what they're experiencing.
The person facing opposition who needs courage they don't naturally have.
This isn't mystical or weird. It's practical empowerment for everyday life.
The Initial Evidence
Let's address the elephant in the room: tongues.
When someone is baptized in the Holy Spirit, they speak in tongues. This is what happened in the Bible, and it's what happens today.
Speaking in tongues is a prayer language. It's the Holy Spirit praying through you when you don't know what to say.
Paul said, "I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you" (1 Corinthians 14:18).
It's not scary. It's beautiful.
It's the Spirit giving you words to worship, intercede, and build yourself up spiritually.
Some people say, "But I could never do that."
Here's the thing: You're not doing it. The Spirit is. You just have to open your mouth and let Him give you the words.

How to Receive It
Ready for good news?
This isn't complicated.
If you're a believer in Jesus, you can receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit right now.
Here's how:
Ask. Jesus said, "If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" (Luke 11:13). Just ask.
Believe. Trust that God wants to give you this gift. He's not holding out on you. He's eager to fill you.
Receive. Open your mouth. Start to worship. Don't overthink it. Let the Spirit give you words you've never learned.
Yield. This isn't about losing control. It's about giving control. You're fully conscious. You can start and stop. But you're letting the Spirit lead.
Some people receive instantly. Others need someone to pray with them and encourage them.
Both are fine.
The important thing is hunger. If you want more of God, He'll meet you there.
Living in the Power
The baptism in the Holy Spirit isn't a one-time experience you frame and hang on the wall.
It's the beginning of a Spirit-empowered life.
You'll pray with new authority.
You'll worship with new depth.
You'll witness with new boldness.
You'll face challenges with new courage.
This is what the early church had. And it's still available today.
Paul told the Ephesians, "Be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). That's present tense. Keep being filled. Keep yielding. Keep walking in the power.
Your Next Step
If you've never been baptized in the Holy Spirit, today can be the day.
Find a quiet place. Ask God to fill you. Open your mouth and start worshiping. Let Him give you words.
If you want someone to pray with you, reach out. We'd love to help.
If you've already been baptized in the Spirit, don't let that experience collect dust.
Pray in tongues daily. Let the Spirit build you up. Stay sensitive to His leading.
This is the power Jesus promised.
It's for you.
