Ever feel like you're running on empty?
You're doing all the right things.
Praying. Reading your Bible. Trying to live right.
But something feels like it's missing.
Like there's more power available than what you're experiencing.
You're not imagining it.
There is more.
What Is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit?
When you accepted Jesus, something incredible happened.
The Holy Spirit came to live inside you.
You became a new creation.
That's salvation: and it's real.
But the Bible talks about another experience with the Holy Spirit.
It's called the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
This isn't about getting saved again.
You can't be more saved than saved.
This is about being empowered for what God's called you to do.

Think of it this way:
When you got saved, the Holy Spirit moved in.
When you're baptized in the Spirit, He fills every room.
What Jesus Promised
Right before Jesus went back to heaven, He told His followers to wait.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)
Power.
Not just a nice feeling.
Not just good vibes.
Actual power to be His witness.
To share your faith with confidence.
To pray with authority.
To live differently in a world that desperately needs Jesus.
A few days later, on the Day of Pentecost, it happened.
The Holy Spirit filled the believers.
They spoke in languages they'd never learned.
They boldly proclaimed Jesus in the streets.
Three thousand people got saved that day.
The same Spirit is available to you today.
Why It Matters for Your Life
Maybe you're thinking, "That's great for Bible times, but what about now?"
Fair question.
Here's why this matters for your actual life:
You get power to share Jesus.
Not pushy, weird evangelism.
But natural conversations where the Spirit gives you the right words.
Boldness when you need it most.
You experience deeper prayer.
When you don't know what to pray, the Spirit helps you.
Sometimes in your own language.
Sometimes in a prayer language the Spirit gives you.
You grow in spiritual gifts.
The same Spirit who empowers you for witness also gives gifts.
Prophecy. Healing. Words of knowledge.
Practical ways to help others encounter God.
You sense God's presence more clearly.
Not because you're trying harder.
But because the Spirit is actively filling and leading you.

What About Speaking in Tongues?
Let's address the elephant in the room.
In Assemblies of God belief, speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of Spirit baptism.
When believers in Acts received the Spirit, they spoke in tongues.
It happened in Jerusalem (Acts 2).
It happened in Samaria (Acts 8).
It happened to Gentiles (Acts 10).
It happened to disciples in Ephesus (Acts 19).
But here's what tongues actually is:
It's not weird babbling.
It's not losing control.
It's not something to be afraid of.
It's a prayer language between you and God.
Paul said he spoke in tongues more than anyone (1 Corinthians 14:18).
He called it a gift that builds you up in your faith.
You're still in control.
You can start and stop.
It's simply yielding your voice to the Spirit's leading.
What This Looks Like Today
Maybe you're working third shift at the warehouse right now, reading this on your break.
Or you're scrolling on your phone at 2 AM because sleep won't come.
This isn't just for pastors and missionaries.
This is for you.
The factory worker.
The nurse pulling a double shift.
The truck driver crossing state lines.
The parent too exhausted to form complete sentences.
The person who's never set foot in a church building.
God wants to empower you right where you are.
To give you strength for the hard days.
Words for the conversations that matter.
Hope when everything feels heavy.

How to Receive It
You don't have to work up to this.
You don't have to be perfect first.
You just have to ask and be willing.
Here's the simple truth:
"If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" (Luke 11:13)
Did you catch that?
God is MORE willing to give than you are to ask.
He's not holding out on you.
He's not making you jump through hoops.
Step 1: Make sure you've accepted Jesus as your Savior.
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is for believers.
If you haven't taken that step yet, start there.
Step 2: Ask God to baptize you in His Holy Spirit.
Just talk to Him like you'd talk to someone you trust.
Tell Him you want everything He has for you.
Step 3: Expect Him to answer.
He will.
Maybe right away. Maybe as you're praying later.
Maybe during worship or in a quiet moment.
When you sense His presence, open your mouth and speak.
Don't speak English. Don't think too hard.
Just let the Spirit give you the words.
Step 4: Continue to be filled daily.
This isn't a one-time thing.
Paul told believers to "be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18).
That's present tense. Ongoing.
Every day, yield yourself fresh to God.
This Changes Everything
When the early church was filled with the Spirit, everything changed.
Cowards became bold.
Fishermen became preachers.
The message of Jesus spread like wildfire.
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you.
Not because you're special.
But because God is generous.
He wants you empowered.
He wants you effective.
He wants you experiencing everything He died to give you.
You don't have to stay stuck.
You don't have to keep running on fumes.
There's more.
And it's yours for the asking.
