Maybe you're sitting in a hospital room right now.
Or maybe you're at home, managing pain that never quite goes away.
Maybe you're watching someone you love fight a battle with their body, and you're wondering if God even sees what's happening.
Here's the question that keeps surfacing: Does God still heal today?
The short answer is yes.
The longer answer is what we're diving into today, and it's a message filled with hope, biblical truth, and the unwavering character of a God who hasn't changed.
What Jesus Did, And Still Does
Let's start with what we know from Scripture.
Jesus didn't just talk about compassion.
He demonstrated it, over and over, by healing the sick, opening blind eyes, making the lame walk, and cleansing lepers.

He didn't heal a select few.
He healed all who came to Him.
Matthew 4:23-24 tells us that Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching, preaching, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
Every disease.
Every sickness.
No exceptions.
When a man with leprosy approached Jesus and said, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean," Jesus didn't hesitate.
He reached out His hand, touched him, and said, "I am willing. Be clean."
And immediately, the leprosy left him (Matthew 8:2-3).
That phrase, "I am willing", reveals the heart of God toward sickness and suffering.
Jesus wasn't indifferent.
He was moved with compassion.
He hated sickness because He loves us.
The Cross Purchased More Than Forgiveness
Here's a truth that sometimes gets overlooked: the same body of Jesus that was broken on the cross purchased our physical healing, not just our spiritual salvation.
Isaiah 53:5 says it clearly:
"But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed."
Peter echoes this in 1 Peter 2:24:
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."
This isn't just spiritual healing.
It's holistic.
Jesus' suffering covered the full scope of human brokenness, body, soul, and spirit.

Does that mean every believer will be instantly healed of every condition?
No.
Healing operates within God's sovereign will, His timing, and His purposes.
But it does mean that God's heart toward His people is health and healing.
And that heart hasn't changed.
Faith Is the Channel
When Jesus healed, He often said something like this: "Your faith has healed you" (Matthew 9:22, Mark 5:34, Luke 17:19).
Faith isn't a magic formula.
It's trust in the character and power of God.
It's believing that God is who He says He is, and that He does what He says He will do.
Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that "without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."
Faith is the indispensable ingredient in divine healing.
Not because God needs our faith to act, but because faith is how we align ourselves with His will and open our hearts to receive what He wants to give.
If you're sick today, struggling, or waiting for breakthrough, don't despise the step of faith.
Bring your honest need before God.
Ask boldly.
Trust deeply.
And know that His compassion is real.
Healing Through the Church
James 5:14-16 gives us a clear instruction for believers who are sick:
"Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up."
This isn't just for first-century believers.
It's for us today.
The church, the body of Christ, is commissioned to minister healing in Jesus' name.

Mark 16:17-18 says that believers will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.
Every believer can be a vessel for God's healing power.
Not because of our own strength, but because of the Spirit of God working through us.
If you're in need of prayer for healing and strength, don't isolate yourself.
Reach out.
Connect with your church family.
Let the body of Christ pray with you and over you.
When Healing Doesn't Come Instantly
Let's be honest.
Not every prayer results in instant healing.
Paul had a "thorn in the flesh" that God chose not to remove, even after Paul pleaded three times (2 Corinthians 12:7-9).
God's answer was: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Sometimes, God's purpose in our suffering is to demonstrate His sustaining grace and to develop character, endurance, and deeper dependence on Him.
That doesn't mean He doesn't care.
It means He sees a bigger picture than we do.
And even in the waiting, even in the valley, His presence is real, His comfort is available, and His promises remain true.
Romans 8:28 assures us that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
All things.
Even the hard things.
Even the painful things.
God is working.
Biblical Miracles of Healing Still Happen
We serve the same God who parted the Red Sea, healed Naaman's leprosy, and raised Lazarus from the dead.
His power hasn't diminished.
His compassion hasn't faded.
Hebrews 13:8 declares: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
Today, around the world, believers are still experiencing biblical miracles of healing.
Cancers disappear.
Chronic pain lifts.
Mental health is restored.
Doctors find no medical explanation.

These aren't myths or exaggerations.
They're testimonies of the living God at work in our world today.
If you need a miracle, know this: there is no illness beyond Christ's ability to cure.
His supernatural healing power is without limit.
And His invitation to come to Him with your need is still open.
A Prayer for Healing and Strength
If you're reading this and you need healing, or you're walking with someone who does, here's a simple prayer you can pray:
"Jesus, I believe You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. I believe You have the power to heal, and I believe Your heart toward me is good. I bring my body, my pain, and my need before You right now. I ask for Your healing touch. I ask for strength to endure. I ask for faith to trust You, even when I don't understand. Thank You for being with me in this. I receive Your grace. In Jesus' name, Amen."
You're Not Alone in This
If you're in a hospital bed, a recovery center, or managing a chronic condition at home, please hear this:
You are not forgotten.
You are not beyond God's reach.
And you are not walking this road alone.
The same Jesus who healed the sick in Galilee is present with you right now.
He sees you.
He knows your name.
And His compassion toward you is real.
