The Gift of Healing: Expecting Miracles in Your Living Room

There is a specific kind of quiet that lives in a room when you are sick.

Whether it is the low hum of a medical monitor, the ticking of a clock on the mantle, or just the heavy silence of being home alone while the rest of the world seems to be rushing by, that silence can feel heavy. It can feel like isolation.

If you are reading this from a bed, a recliner, or a hospital room, I want you to take a deep breath.

You aren't just "stuck" at home. You are in a sanctuary.

At Boundless Online Church, we believe that the walls of a cathedral don't hold any more of God’s presence than the walls of your living room. We believe that the same Jesus who walked through locked doors to meet His disciples can walk right through your front door, or reside right there in your heart, to bring a gift that the world desperately needs: the gift of healing.

Healing is for Today

Sometimes, people think of miracles as something that happened "back then." They read the stories in the New Testament of blind eyes opening or Peter’s mother-in-law being healed of a fever and think of them as ancient history.

But one of the core truths we hold onto, specifically, what we call Assemblies of God Truth #12, is that divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel.

It wasn’t a temporary promotion for the early church. It is a permanent provision for everyone who follows Jesus.

The Bible tells us in Isaiah 53:5 that "by His stripes we are healed." This means that when Jesus went to the cross, He wasn't just paying for our sins; He was also carrying our sicknesses. Healing is part of the "package deal" of salvation. It is a privilege for every believer, including you, right where you are sitting today.

Your Living Room as a Bethesda

In the book of John, there was a place called the Pool of Bethesda where the sick and disabled gathered, waiting for the water to be stirred. They thought they had to be in a specific physical location at a specific time to get their miracle.

Then Jesus showed up.

He didn't need the pool. He didn't need the water to move. He just needed the person to look at Him.

If you are homebound, you might feel like you’re missing out because you can’t get to a "healing service" or a specific church building. But here is the beautiful reality: through the Holy Spirit, your living room is Bethesda. Your bedroom is the Upper Room.

God is not limited by your mobility. He is not hindered by your diagnosis. He is moved by your faith.

Why We Expect Miracles

We don't expect miracles because we are "good enough" or because we’ve prayed long enough. We expect them because of who God is.

In our Online Worship community, we often talk about the character of God. He is "Jehovah Rapha", the Lord who heals. It is His nature to restore. It is His heart to make things whole.

When we pray for healing, we aren't trying to twist God’s arm to do something He doesn't want to do. We are simply asking Him to be who He already says He is.

James 5:14-15 gives us a very practical instruction: "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them... And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well."

You might ask, "How do I call the elders if I'm alone?"

That is why we exist as an online church. We are a community that bridges the gap. Whether you connect through our Bible Study Club or reach out via our prayer line, you are calling on a body of believers who stand in faith with you. You are never praying alone.

Dealing With the "Not Yet"

We have to be honest: sometimes the healing is instant, and sometimes it is a process. And sometimes, we find ourselves in a season of "not yet."

If you have been praying for a long time and you haven't seen the physical change you're asking for, please hear this: God has not forgotten you.

Divine healing isn't a vending machine. It’s a relationship. Sometimes God heals the heart before He heals the body. Sometimes He gives "sustaining grace" that is just as miraculous as a sudden recovery.

While we stand on the promise of AG Truth #12: that healing is provided in the atonement: we also trust the Giver of the gift. We keep asking, we keep seeking, and we keep knocking. We refuse to let our current symptoms dictate our final hope.

If you’re feeling weary in the waiting, we invite you to explore our Prayer & Worship resources. Finding strength in the middle of the struggle is a miracle in itself.

Practical Steps to Expecting Your Miracle

How do you practically "expect" a miracle when you're feeling low? Here are a few ways to stir your faith today:

  1. Fill Your Atmosphere: Turn off the news and the "dr. google" searches for a while. Put on some worship music. Let the atmosphere of your room change from one of "sickness" to one of "praise."

  2. Speak the Word: Don't just think about the scriptures; say them out loud. There is power in the spoken Word of God. Remind your body what the Bible says about it.

  3. Invite Community In: Even if nobody can physically visit, reach out. Join a discussion group or send a text. Let others carry the shield of faith for you when your arms get tired.

  4. Take a Step: If there is something you haven't been able to do, try a small movement in faith (safely, of course). Sometimes the miracle begins with a single step of obedience.

You Are Part of the Body

Remember, being "homebound" does not mean you are "church-bound."

The Church is a body, and every part is vital. Even if you are confined to a bed, your prayers have power. Your faith is an inspiration to others. You are a valued member of Boundless Online Church, and we are praying for your restoration every single day.

We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online. That includes meeting Him as Healer.

Don't let the four walls of your room define your world. Your world is as big as God’s promises. And His promises say that He is with you, He loves you, and He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.

Let’s Pray Together

If you are hurting right now, we want to stand with you. You don't have to carry the burden of your health alone. Our community is here to support you, encourage you, and believe with you for the miraculous.

What are you trusting God for today? Do you have a testimony of a "living room miracle" you'd like to share? We would love to hear from you and walk alongside you in your journey of faith.
