What If Peace Had a Kingdom?
Here's a question your kids might ask: "Will the world always be broken?"
And here's the beautiful answer: No.
The Bible tells us about a time when Jesus will return and reign as King on earth for a thousand years. A millennium. It's called the Millennial Reign, and it's not a scary ending, it's a glorious beginning.
Imagine a world where wars stop. Where enemies become friends. Where the lion lays down beside the lamb, and no one is afraid. That's what Jesus promises. A kingdom of peace. A garden of a thousand years.
Tonight, you can teach your kids about this hope. Not with charts or timelines. With a story.

The Garden of Thousand Years
A Story for Children
Once, the world was filled with noise.
Not the good kind, like laughter or singing, but the hard kind. Fighting. Hurting. Fear.
But one day, everything changed.
Jesus came back.
Not as a baby in a manger this time. As a King. The King of all kings. And when He spoke, the noise stopped.
"Come," He said. "Let Me show you My garden."
And suddenly, the whole earth became a garden.
The deserts bloomed with flowers. The mountains sang. Rivers sparkled like diamonds under the sun. And everywhere you looked, there was peace.
In the garden, a little girl named Mara walked beside a lion.
His mane was golden. His eyes were kind.
"Are you scared?" asked her brother, Ezra.
Mara shook her head. "No. He's my friend now."
The lion purred.
Nearby, a lamb hopped over to them, nuzzling Mara's hand. The wolf trotted beside Ezra, wagging his tail like a puppy.
"Everything is different here," Ezra whispered.
"Because Jesus is King," Mara said.
And it was true.

In the garden, no one was hungry. No one was sad. No one was left out.
The children played in fields that stretched forever. They climbed trees that never stopped growing fruit. They laughed with animals that used to be dangerous but now were gentle.
Every morning, the people gathered to see Jesus.
He sat on a throne made of light, but He didn't feel far away. He felt close. Like a father. Like a friend.
"Tell us a story!" the children would shout.
And Jesus would smile. "Once upon a time," He'd begin, "there was a world that forgot how to love. But I never forgot them. So I came back. And now, we're together. Forever."
The children cheered.
Mara looked around. She saw people from every nation. Every language. All worshiping Jesus. All living in peace.
"Will it always be like this?" she asked.
Jesus knelt down beside her. "For a thousand years, Mara. A thousand beautiful years."
"And then?"
"Then," Jesus said gently, "something even better."
Mara didn't understand it all. But she didn't need to.
She was safe. She was loved. And Jesus was King.
That was enough.
Scripture Memory Cards
Print these. Laminate them if you can. Keep them on your fridge or in the car.
Card 1: Isaiah 11:6 "The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them."
Card 2: Revelation 20:6 "Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years."
Say them together at bedtime. At breakfast. In the car on the way to school.
Let these promises sink deep.

Theological Roots
Assemblies of God Fundamental Truth #14: The Millennial Reign of Christ

Discussion Questions by Age
Ages 3-6: "What animals would you want to play with in God's garden?"
Let them dream big. Let them imagine petting tigers and riding elephants. This plants seeds of wonder and safety in God's kingdom.
Ages 7-9: "What does it mean for Jesus to be the King of Peace?"
Help them connect the dots. Jesus doesn't rule with fear, He rules with love. He makes enemies friends. He heals what's broken.
Ages 10-12: "What will the world look like when Jesus reigns for 1,000 years?"
Dig deeper here. Talk about justice without revenge. Peace without weapons. Unity without division. Let them wrestle with how different this is from what we see now, and how good that difference is.
Prayer Closer
"Jesus, thank You for being the King of Peace. Thank You that one day, everything broken will be made new. Help us trust You while we wait. Help us live like citizens of Your kingdom right now. We love You. Amen."
