The Missions Moonshot: Reaching the Final 42%

When President Kennedy declared we'd put a man on the moon, people thought he was crazy.
Too big. Too far. Too impossible.
But here's what he understood: moonshots aren't about being realistic. They're about being obedient to something bigger than yourself.
The Assemblies of God World Missions (AGWM) has launched its own moonshot.
And the numbers are staggering.
The 42% Nobody's Talking About
Right now, 42% of the world's population belongs to what missiologists call "Unreached People Groups."
That's 3.3 billion people.
Let that sink in for a second.
Three billion, three hundred million human beings who have never heard the name of Jesus in a way that makes sense to them.
Not because they rejected Him. Not because they weren't interested.
But because no one has ever told them in their language, through their culture, in a way that connects.

What Exactly Is an Unreached People Group?
An Unreached People Group (UPG) is a community where less than 2% of the population identifies as evangelical Christian.
And here's the critical part: there's no indigenous community of believers able to evangelize the rest of the group without outside help.
Think about that.
These aren't just individuals scattered across the globe. These are entire communities: often defined by language, ethnicity, or geographic location: where the gospel has minimal or zero presence.
Some of these groups number in the millions. Others might be a few thousand people living in remote mountain villages.
But each one matters to God.
Each one is part of the Great Commission.
Why This Matters Now
We live in the most connected moment in human history.
You can video chat with someone on the other side of the planet. You can translate entire websites with one click. You can share a message that reaches millions in seconds.
And yet 42% of humanity still hasn't heard.
That's not a technology problem.
It's a deployment problem.
AGWM recognized something crucial: traditional missions alone won't reach the final 42%. Not because traditional missions aren't working: they absolutely are. But because the scale is too massive and the barriers too complex.
We need a new approach.
We need digital missionaries working alongside traditional ones.
We need online churches reaching people in closed countries where physical churches can't exist.
We need platforms that transcend borders and bypass restrictions.

Enter the Digital Frontier
Here's where it gets interesting.
The same technology that connects you to friends and family can connect unreached people to the gospel.
A person in a restricted-access nation can attend an online church service without fear.
A woman in a culture where she's not allowed to attend physical church can watch a sermon on her phone.
A young person questioning their traditional religion can explore Christianity privately, safely, and at their own pace.
This isn't replacing traditional missions. It's multiplying it.
It's creating pathways where physical pathways don't exist.
Why Boundless Is Part of This
Boundless Online Church exists specifically for this moment.
We're not a traditional church that happens to stream online. We're a digital-first ministry designed to reach people wherever they are: especially people who can't access a physical church.
That includes the 42%.
Our platform doesn't care about borders. Our message isn't limited by geography. Our community isn't restricted by time zones.
When someone in a closed country finds our website, they find hope.
When someone in a rural area with no nearby church discovers our content, they find connection.
When someone searching for answers at 2 AM stumbles onto our resources, they find Jesus.
That's the point.
Boundless Online Church is a ministry of FA Memphis, but our reach is global. Our mission is boundary-less. Our calling is to the unreached.

The Moonshot Mentality
Kennedy didn't say, "We'll try to get to the moon if conditions are favorable."
He said, "We're going."
AGWM isn't saying, "We hope to reach some of the 42%."
They're saying, "We're reaching them all."
That's audacious. That's faith. That's what happens when you take the Great Commission seriously.
And here's what you need to know: you're part of this.
If you're reading this, you're part of the digital missions movement. You might not be on a plane to a foreign country, but you're in the conversation.
You share content. You pray. You support. You engage.
That matters more than you know.
What Unreached Actually Looks Like
Let's get practical for a second.
An unreached people group might be:
A tribal community in Southeast Asia with their own language and no Bible translation
An ethnic minority in a predominantly Muslim country where converting to Christianity risks death
A nomadic people group moving across borders where no church can establish roots
An urban population in a country where Christianity is illegal
A caste in India where social barriers prevent gospel access
These aren't theoretical categories. These are real people with real lives, real families, real hopes, real pain.
The Digital Bridge
This is where online ministry changes everything.
A digital platform can reach places a physical missionary can't enter.
Content can be translated and shared in ways that bypass traditional barriers.
Online communities can form in countries where physical Christian gatherings are illegal.
Video teaching can reach someone who would never step foot in a church building.
This isn't science fiction. This is happening right now.
People in closed countries are finding Jesus through YouTube videos. Underground believers are connecting through encrypted apps. Seekers are exploring faith through websites like ours.
The digital bridge is real. And it's working.

Your Role in the Moonshot
You don't need a passport to be a missionary anymore.
You don't need to raise support for years. You don't need to learn a new language. You don't need to leave your job.
You need to engage.
Share content that points people to Jesus. Pray for unreached people groups by name. Support ministries working in digital missions. Connect with believers from other nations online.
And here's the thing: when you engage with Boundless Online Church, you're already doing it.
Every time you watch a service, you're part of a global community. Every time you share a post, you're extending the reach. Every time you pray, you're partnering with what God is doing worldwide.
That's not hype. That's reality.
The Finish Line
The 42% isn't a permanent number.
It's shrinking. Slowly. Steadily. Through the work of thousands of missionaries, churches, ministries, and believers like you.
AGWM's moonshot is to accelerate that decline. To see every people group reached. To ensure no one dies without hearing the name of Jesus.
And Boundless Online Church is part of that mission.
We're here to reach the unreachable. Connect the disconnected. Bring hope to the hopeless.
Not because we're special. But because we're obedient.
Take the Next Step
If this stirs something in you, don't ignore it.
That's the Holy Spirit. That's God inviting you into something bigger than yourself.
Start by praying. Text PRAY to 1-901-213-7341 (message & data rates may apply). Not for emergencies. Ask God to show you how you fit into the missions moonshot.
Then connect with us at https://www.boundlessonlinechurch.org. Explore the resources. Join the community. Be part of the movement.
The final 42% won't reach themselves.
But together? We can reach them all.
That's not crazy. That's faith.
And faith moves mountains.
Or in this case, reaches 3.3 billion people.
Boundless Online Church is a ministry of FA Memphis.
