Imagine, for a second, that your Bible is a contraband item. Imagine that meeting with two or three friends to talk about Jesus could lead to a knock on the door that changes your life forever. For millions of our brothers and sisters around the world, this isn't a "what if" scenario. It is their daily reality.
At Boundless Online Church, we talk a lot about "Unlimited Access." Usually, we mean the way technology lets us reach across borders to share the Gospel. But today, we’re looking at it from a different angle. We are talking about the unlimited access we have to the throne of God on behalf of those who are suffering for their faith.
Physical walls can stop a person, but they cannot stop a prayer.
The Reality of the Global Front Line
Right now, more than 380 million Christians live in places where they face high levels of persecution and discrimination. That is one in every seven Christians worldwide. In some regions, the pressure is subtle, lost jobs, social shunning, or being denied basic services. In other places, it is violent. In the last year alone, thousands of believers were murdered simply because they refused to let go of the name of Jesus.
When we look at the map of the world, we see borders, restricted zones, and "closed" countries. But through the lens of faith, those borders are porous.

We believe in the power of the Global Church. In the Assemblies of God, one of our 16 Fundamental Truths focuses on the Mission of the Church. Part of that mission is to be a body that supports its members. When one part of the body hurts, we all hurt. We aren't just an online community; we are part of a living, breathing, global family that stretches from the streets of Memphis to the hidden house churches in high-risk zones.
Why Prayer is the Number One Request
When ministry leaders from organizations like Voice of the Martyrs or Open Doors ask persecuted believers, "How can we help you?" the answer is almost always the same. They don't usually ask for money first. They don't always ask for a way out.
They ask us to pray.
Why? Because they understand something we often forget: the battle is spiritual. They aren't looking for comfort; they are looking for endurance. They are looking for the "Unlimited Access" of the Holy Spirit to give them the words to say when they are questioned.
This aligns perfectly with our belief in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. We believe the Spirit empowers us to be witnesses (Acts 1:8). For a believer in a high-risk area, that "witnessing" might happen in a prison cell or in a secret whisper to a neighbor. They need the Spirit’s power to remain bold when everything around them says to stay silent.
Breaking the Isolation
One of the biggest weapons the enemy uses against the persecuted is isolation. He wants them to feel like they are the only ones left, much like Elijah felt in the cave. By joining in global prayer movements, like the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP), we remind them, and ourselves, that they are never alone.
There is a beautiful cycle that happens in the global prayer movement. We’ve seen reports of believers in Sudan, who are facing incredible hardship, spending their prayer meetings interceding for the church in China. Then, the Chinese underground church spends their time praying for the secret believers in Iran.
This is what "Unlimited Access" looks like in the Kingdom. It’s a network of grace that the world’s most sophisticated firewalls can’t block. If you’re looking to dive deeper into how we engage in spiritual growth together, check out our Faith and Discipleship section.
Practical Ways to Pray Right Now
If you want to move from "feeling bad" to "taking action," here is how you can start praying with boldness for our global family:
1. Pray for Boldness, Not Just Safety
It’s natural to pray that the persecution would stop. But many persecuted Christians ask us to pray that they would be faithful through the trial. Pray that God would give them the courage to share the Gospel with their captors or their neighbors, even at great cost.
2. Pray for the Persecutors
This is the hardest part, but it’s what Jesus commanded. Pray that the hearts of those who are doing the hurting would be softened. Some of the greatest leaders in the early church, like the Apostle Paul, started out as persecutors. God is still in the business of turning "Sauls" into "Pauls."
3. Pray for the Families
When a breadwinner is imprisoned or killed for their faith, the family is left vulnerable. Pray for provision, for protection, and for the children to grow up with a deep, unshakable love for Jesus despite the tragedy they’ve seen.
4. Pray for Access to the Word
Many believers in high-risk areas have never owned a full Bible. They might have a few pages hidden away or a digital copy that they have to keep encrypted. Pray for the "Unlimited Access" of God’s Word to reach their hearts and for more resources to be safely delivered to them.

Technology: A Lifeline with a Warning
At Boundless Online Church, we use the internet as a tool for Online Worship and connection. For someone in a persecuted nation, the internet is often their only link to the global body of Christ. They can watch services, download scriptures, and receive encouragement through encrypted apps.
However, technology also brings risks. In many countries, digital surveillance is at an all-time high. If you are communicating with believers in high-risk areas, or if you are one of those believers reading this right now:
Be Wise: Use secure, encrypted platforms (like Signal or Telegram) for sensitive conversations.
Stay Vigilant: Be careful about sharing location data or photos that could identify hidden meeting places.
Privacy Matters: Use a VPN where necessary to protect your digital footprint.
We want everyone to have access to the Gospel, but we also want you to be safe. We believe God protects His people, but He also gives us wisdom to use the tools at our disposal responsibly.
A Call to the Global Community
Whether you are a shift worker catching this blog in the middle of the night, a caregiver providing 24/7 support, or a spiritual seeker looking for something real, your prayers matter. You have a role to play in this global story.
Our ministry is focused on reaching those who can’t get to a traditional church building for whatever reason, whether it’s physical disability, job requirements, or because it’s literally illegal to have a church building in your city. You are a vital part of Boundless Online Church.
If you are feeling the weight of the world or the weight of your own circumstances, remember that the same God who sustains the believer in a prison cell in North Korea is the same God who is with you in your living room or at your workstation.
Let’s be a people of prayer. Let’s use our "Unlimited Access" to the Father to lift up those who are paying the ultimate price for the Gospel.
