Walking in Wisdom

Hey there, friend! Welcome back. Today, we're diving into something that touches every single area of our lives, wisdom. Not the kind that comes from textbooks or degrees, but the deep, life-changing wisdom that flows directly from our Heavenly Father.

Whether you're facing a big decision right now, navigating a tricky relationship, or simply trying to figure out what tomorrow looks like, this one's for you. Wisdom isn't about having all the answers, it's about knowing Who does. So grab your favorite drink, settle in, and let's walk through this together.

What Does It Really Mean to Walk in Wisdom?

Walking in wisdom is so much more than just making smart choices. It's about aligning your entire life, your thoughts, decisions, relationships, and daily habits, with God's will. It means living in reverence for Him and trusting that His way is always, always best.

The beautiful thing about biblical wisdom? It's not reserved for scholars or pastors or people who've been in church their whole lives. It's available to every single one of us. You included. Right where you are today.

Assemblies of God believers have long affirmed that true wisdom begins with reverence for God, trust in His Word, and dependence on the Holy Spirit to guide our lives in truth.

Walking in wisdom means:

  • Seeking God first before making decisions

  • Discerning between good and evil through prayer and Scripture

  • Submitting your plans to what God has revealed

  • Applying truth practically in everyday moments

It's not just head knowledge, it's heart transformation that shows up in how you live.

Bible Study: Proverbs 3:5-6

Let's anchor ourselves in Scripture today. Open your Bible (or your phone!) to Proverbs 3:5-6:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

These two verses are packed with life-changing truth. Let's break it down:

Trust with ALL Your Heart

Notice it doesn't say "trust with most of your heart" or "trust when it's convenient." God invites us into complete, wholehearted trust. That means the areas where you feel confident AND the areas where you feel completely lost.

Lean NOT on Your Own Understanding

Ouch. This one gets us, doesn't it? We like to figure things out. We research, we plan, we analyze. And those aren't bad things! But God gently reminds us that our understanding is limited. His is not.

In ALL Your Ways Submit to Him

Not just the big decisions. Not just Sunday mornings. ALL your ways. The career choice. The conversation with your teenager. The way you spend your lunch break. Every single area of life is an invitation to submit to His leading.

He WILL Make Your Paths Straight

Here's the promise. When we trust, when we stop leaning on our own limited view, when we submit, He directs. He clears the way. He leads us home.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What area of your life are you trying to figure out on your own right now?

  2. What would it look like to fully trust God with that situation today?

  3. How can you practice submitting your daily decisions to Him this week?

Life Hack: The Council of Three

Here's a practical tip that can transform how you make decisions: The Council of Three.

Identify three people in your life you trust to seek wisdom from when making big decisions. These should be people who:

  • Love God and will point you back to Scripture

  • Love you and want what's genuinely best for you

  • Will be honest even when it's uncomfortable

Proverbs 11:14 tells us, "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety."

We were never meant to walk this journey alone. Having your Council of Three gives you trusted voices to help you process, pray, and discern God's direction. They become an extension of how God leads you.

How to Build Your Council:

  1. Pray about it. Ask God to reveal who these people should be.

  2. Look for fruit. Choose people whose lives reflect wisdom and faithfulness.

  3. Be intentional. Let them know you value their input and want to lean on their wisdom.

  4. Stay humble. Be open to hearing things you might not want to hear.

Don't have three people yet? That's okay! Start with one. And remember, you're not meant to figure this out alone. God often brings wise, caring people alongside us to help us listen, pray, and take the next faithful step. You're never alone in this.

Movie Review: The King's Speech

Sometimes wisdom comes through unexpected stories. If you haven't seen The King's Speech (2010), it's a thoughtful watch for anyone on a journey of growth and courage.

The film tells the true story of King George VI, who struggled with a debilitating stammer. When he unexpectedly becomes king, he must find his voice to lead in a time of crisis. With the help of an unconventional speech therapist named Lionel Logue, he learns to face fear and speak with confidence.

Why This Movie Matters for Walking in Wisdom:

  • Seeking help is strength, not weakness. The king had to humble himself and ask for guidance. That's wisdom in action.

  • Perseverance pays off. Change didn't happen overnight. It took consistent effort and trust in the process.

  • The right guide makes all the difference. Lionel wasn't just a therapist, he became a trusted friend and counselor. Sound familiar? (Hello, Council of Three!)

  • Finding your voice matters. Each of us has a voice and a purpose. Walking in wisdom helps us discover how to use it well.

It's a beautiful reminder that God often works through people, through process, and through perseverance. If you're feeling stuck or voiceless today, take heart. Your breakthrough may begin with one faithful next step.

Your Life-Changing Affirmation

Speak this over yourself today: and every day this week:

"I trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding."

Write it on a sticky note. Set it as your phone wallpaper. Say it out loud when doubt creeps in. This isn't just positive thinking: it's biblical truth that transforms how you live.

You are deeply loved. You are never forgotten. You are never alone. And the God of all wisdom is walking right beside you, ready to guide your every step.
