Yes—First Assembly Memphis hosts a mid-week meal and Bible study every Wednesday night, giving families in Memphis and the 901 a relaxed place to gather for fellowship and spiritual nourishment. Dinner starts at 5:00 PM, followed by age-specific Bible studies that help people take real steps toward Jesus and toward each other.
Wednesday Night Dinner: 5:00 - 6:10 PM
We serve Wednesday night family dinners every week from 5:00 - 6:10 PM in our dining room. The cost is $7.00 per meal, which includes your entree, sides, dessert, and drink. We believe that breaking bread together builds the kind of community that lasts beyond Sunday morning.
Our menu rotates weekly and features home-style comfort food prepared fresh on-site. You'll find familiar favorites like BBQ Brisket, Lasagna, Fried Catfish/Burgers, and Beefy Burrito. Each meal is served with complementary sides, bread, and dessert.

Bible Verses for a Mid-Week Refresh
Bible Verse | What it reminds us of |
Acts 2:46 | The early church gathered with glad hearts—from house to house and at the table. |
1 Thessalonians 5:11 | Believers are called to encourage each other and build each other up—not just on Sundays. |
Sin + Solution: Why Mid-Week Fellowship Matters
The problem (sin + struggle): Life in the middle of the week can drift into isolation, burnout, and “I’ll handle it myself” living. That self-reliance can quietly turn into pride, neglected relationships, and a faith that stays private instead of practiced in community.
The solution (Jesus + community): Scripture calls believers to gather, encourage one another, and keep Christ at the center (Hebrews 10:24–25). Wednesday night creates space to slow down, share a meal, open the Bible, pray together, and rebuild spiritual strength—without shame and without pretending.
Why this matters for Memphis and the 901: FA Memphis exists to help people take real steps toward Jesus and toward each other—strengthening families and building a Spirit-filled, Bible-centered community that serves our city.
The Community Atmosphere
When you walk into our dining room on a Wednesday evening, you’ll notice something immediately: no one stands, walks, or sits alone. That isn’t just a slogan—it’s a weekly commitment to make sure people are welcomed well.
Our Connection Team is present throughout the dinner service to help every person find a seat and a friendly conversation. If you arrive by yourself, someone will gladly invite you to join a table. If you’re new, you can expect warm introductions and simple directions so you don’t feel lost.
This is intentional. Our team is trained to create an environment where you are seen, heard, and cared for—with genuine conversation, kindness, and respect.
What Happens After Dinner
At 6:30 PM, our Wednesday Evening Ministry Groups begin. These classes and gatherings are designed for every age group: from nursery care to senior adults. The schedule allows families to eat together at 5:00 PM, then transition into age-specific ministry by 6:30 PM.
You'll find Bible studies, youth groups, children's programs, and adult classes all happening simultaneously. The structure gives parents the freedom to engage in their own spiritual growth while their kids are in safe, engaging environments.
Many Memphis families use Wednesday nights as their weekly rhythm: dinner at 5:00 PM, ministry groups at 6:30 PM, and home afterward. It’s a predictable, manageable midweek commitment that supports family routines.

First-Time Visitor Tips for Wednesday Nights
If you're planning your first visit to a Memphis church on a Wednesday evening, here's what you need to know:
Arrive between 5:00 and 5:30 PM to avoid the initial dinner rush. You'll have more time to get oriented and meet people without feeling rushed.
Bring $7 cash or card per person for dinner. We accept both payment methods at the serving line.
Look for the Connection Team wearing name tags near the entrance to the dining room. They'll help you navigate the space and find a table.
Stay for the 6:30 PM ministry groups if your schedule allows. You don't have to commit to a full semester: just show up and see what fits.
Check out The Good Cup before or after dinner. Our in-house coffee bar serves the signature “Good Cup” blend.
Why Wednesday Nights Matter in Memphis
Memphis moves fast. Work schedules, school activities, sports practices, and family obligations fill every available hour. By the time Sunday rolls around, many families are running on fumes.
Wednesday night church dinners create a built-in pause. For $7, you get a hot meal you didn't have to cook, cleanup you don't have to manage, and a room full of people who genuinely want to know how you're doing. That trade-off matters when you're juggling a full calendar.
We've also found that Wednesday nights build deeper connections than Sunday mornings. Sunday services are powerful and essential, but they're structured around corporate worship. Wednesday dinners are structured around conversation. You'll learn more about someone over meatloaf and mashed potatoes than you will during a post-service handshake.

The Role of Food in Our Church Community
We take food seriously at First Assembly Memphis—not in a gourmet, Instagram-worthy way, but in a “let’s sit down and actually talk to each other” way. Food slows people down, keeps people at the table longer, and creates a natural space for real conversation.
Our kitchen staff prepares every Wednesday meal with that in mind. The goal isn’t just to feed bodies—it’s to create the conditions for community to grow. The food is simple, warm, and welcoming, and that is often exactly what a busy week needs.
Prayer for Families Gathering Mid-Week
Jesus, thank You for every family, every single adult, every student, and every kid who walks in on a Wednesday night needing strength. Meet us at the table and in Your Word. Heal what’s heavy, restore what’s tired, and build real friendship and real faith in our homes. Help us encourage one another and follow You with glad hearts. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Grounding: How This Fits Into a Weekly Rhythm
Wednesday is a meaningful “middle” to the week—but it isn’t the only on-ramp for connection.
Sunday mornings:9:30 AM Classes and 10:30 AM Worship
Weekdays: opportunities for prayer, care, and connection are available as needs arise
