Your Week in Review: AI, Purpose, and Building Boundless Community (Feb 1-7)

Hey friend,

It's Dr. Layne McDonald here, and I wanted to take a moment this Saturday evening to catch you up on what we've been exploring together this week at Boundless Online Church.

If you missed anything: or if you're new here: welcome. This is your space to grow in Christ, ask hard questions, and find practical tools for everyday faith.

Let me walk you through the highlights.

AI Isn't the Enemy: It's a Tool

Earlier this week, we released what I'm calling The Ultimate Guide to AI and Faith.

And honestly? It's been one of the most-read posts we've ever put out.

Here's why it matters: AI is here. It's reshaping how people search for truth, how they ask questions, and how they connect with community. The Church can't afford to be silent or scared.

But let me be crystal clear: AI is not your pastor. It's not the Holy Spirit. It won't replace prayer, discernment, or real human community.

What it can do is help you:

  • Draft Bible study discussion guides faster

  • Translate the Gospel into languages you don't speak

  • Reach people online who are genuinely searching for hope

  • Organize outreach efforts and streamline communication

The printing press multiplied God's Word in the 1500s. The internet opened doors to global ministry in the 2000s. AI can be the next frontier: if we steward it with wisdom, truth, and compassion.

Read the full guide. Share it with your ministry team. Let's talk about this without fear.

Life Purpose: The Questions That Won't Let You Go

We also dove into something deeply personal this week: those nagging questions about purpose.

You know the ones:

  • "Am I doing what God made me to do?"

  • "Why does my work feel hollow sometimes?"

  • "How do I know if I'm on the right path?"

These aren't "fluffy" questions. They're the cry of a soul looking for meaning in the chaos.

Here's what I've learned: God rarely reveals your entire purpose in one blinding moment. He reveals it step by step, often through obedience in small things.

Your purpose isn't something you discover like buried treasure. It's something you build with God, daily, in prayer and action.

If you're wrestling with purpose right now, you're not alone. And you're not behind. You're right where God can meet you.

Bible Study Resources: Tools You Can Actually Use

I've heard from so many of you: "I want to study the Bible more, but I don't know where to start."

That's why we're committed to building out Bible study resources that don't require a seminary degree to understand.

This week, we highlighted tools and approaches that work for:

  • Small group leaders looking for fresh material

  • Parents wanting to teach their kids scripture

  • Solo Bible readers who need structure and encouragement

Whether it's devotional guides, topical studies, or question prompts, our goal is simple: make the Word accessible and alive.

Assemblies of God Memphis History: Remembering Where We Come From

We also took time to honor something important: the history of the Assemblies of God in Memphis.

First Assembly Memphis has been a beacon of hope and Holy Spirit power in this city for decades. The stories of revival, compassion, and radical faith that have flowed from this church matter.

Why? Because remembering where we've been helps us stay grounded in where we're going.

It's easy to chase trends or rebrand every five minutes. But when you understand the legacy of Spirit-filled ministry in your city, you carry it forward with reverence and boldness.

We're standing on the shoulders of faithful men and women who prayed, served, and believed when things were hard. Let's not forget that.

Podcasting for Beginners: Use Your Voice

If you've ever thought, "I wish I could start a podcast, but I don't know where to begin," this week's content was for you.

Podcasting isn't reserved for tech geniuses or people with massive budgets. You can start with:

  • Your smartphone

  • A quiet room

  • A message worth sharing

Whether you want to teach Bible lessons, interview church members, or simply share testimonies, podcasting is one of the most powerful ways to multiply your voice.

We broke down:

  • What equipment you actually need (hint: not much)

  • How to structure episodes

  • Where to host and distribute your show

  • How to avoid common beginner mistakes

If God's put a message on your heart, don't let fear or lack of know-how keep you silent. Start small. Start messy. Just start.

Building Boundless Community: You Belong Here

Finally, we continued our ongoing series about community building.

Because let's be honest: loneliness is an epidemic. Even people who attend church every Sunday can feel isolated.

Boundless Online Church exists to close that gap. We're not just a content library. We're a family.

This week, we explored:

  • How to cultivate real connection in a digital space

  • Why online community isn't "less than" in-person community: it's just different

  • Practical ways to serve, pray, and support one another even when we're miles apart

You were never meant to do faith alone. And at Boundless, you don't have to.

What's Next?

Look, I know life is busy. I know your inbox is full. I know you've got a hundred things competing for your attention.

But here's the truth: you can't pour from an empty cup.

If this week's content blessed you, challenge you, or made you think: stay connected. Follow our blog. Subscribe to updates. Share what resonates with someone who needs it.

Because the goal of everything we do at Boundless isn't to build a brand. It's to multiply the message of Jesus with clarity, compassion, and courage.
