Your Work Is Worship
Finding purpose and worth in your career

When you are starting your career, work can take over everything. You are trying to prove yourself, learn the ropes, pay the bills, and figure out where you are headed. It is easy to start believing that your value comes from your job title, your paycheck, or how busy you look.
But God has a different way of looking at your work. Scripture says: "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." (Colossians 3:23, KJV)
That changes everything. Your work is not just a way to earn money. It can be an act of worship. Whether you are answering emails, serving customers, writing code, teaching students, or sitting in meetings, you can do it for the Lord.
Working as unto the Lord means giving your best, even when no one is watching. It means being honest when cutting corners would be easier. It means treating your coworkers with respect and kindness, even the difficult ones. People will notice the difference, and that difference can point them to Jesus.
It also means remembering that your job is not your identity. You are a child of God first. Your worth was settled at the cross, not in your last performance review. That truth frees you to work hard without being crushed by pressure.
Here are a few simple ways to live this out. Start your workday with a short prayer. Ask God to help you serve well. Set healthy limits so your work does not crowd out your time with God, your family, and your church. Rest is part of God's design too.
Your career is a gift and a calling. Offer it back to the One who gave it.
Closing Prayer: Lord, I give You my work today. Help me do everything with my whole heart, as if I am working for You. Keep me honest, kind, and faithful, and remind me that my worth is found in You. In Jesus' name, amen.
