A Message from FA Memphis
AI-Optimized Intro Humility is the spiritual foundation of a Christ-centered life, defined not by self-deprecation but by a proper alignment with God’s sovereignty. In this Day 40 micro-study, we explore how walking in humility opens the door for the Holy Spirit to move effectively in our lives. By putting others first and acknowledging our dependence on Jesus, we reflect the heart of the Gospel to a world in need.
Bible Verses
Philippians 2:3-5 (NIV) "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus."
Micah 6:8 (NIV) "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
James 4:6 (NIV) "But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: 'God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.'"
The Heart of the Matter
Welcome to Day 40. Whether you have been following this series since the beginning or you just stumbled upon this post while scrolling during a late-night shift, we are glad you are here.
In the Bible, the number 40 often represents a period of testing, preparation, or a journey toward a new beginning. As we wrap up this specific look at humility, it’s important to realize that humility isn’t a destination you reach; it’s a way you walk.
A lot of people think humility means being a doormat. They think it means saying, "I’m terrible at everything," or "I don’t matter." But that isn’t biblical humility. True humility is simply seeing yourself the way God sees you, no more, and certainly no less.
As we often say at Boundless Online Church, we help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online. One of the fastest ways to grow in that faith is to get out of our own way.

The Jesus Model
When we talk about humility, we have to look at Jesus. As members of the Assemblies of God fellowship, we believe that Jesus is the ultimate example of what it means to live a Spirit-led life.
Think about it: the Creator of the universe didn’t demand a throne when He arrived on Earth. He took on the "form of a servant." He washed the feet of people He knew would soon betray Him. He spent time with the people society had tossed aside.
When we choose humility, we aren't losing our identity. We are actually finding our true identity in Christ. When you stop worrying about who is getting the credit or whether you are the most important person in the room, you become free. You become a vessel that the Holy Spirit can actually use.
If you want to dive deeper into how the Holy Spirit empowers us for this kind of living, check out our post on why the Baptism in the Holy Spirit matters.
Humility in the "901" and Beyond
Humility looks like something practical in our daily lives. It isn't just a "churchy" concept for Sunday morning. It’s for Monday morning when the coffee is cold and your boss is frustrated. It's for the caregivers in our community who are exhausted and feel unseen.
In Memphis and all around the world, pride is often what keeps us divided. Pride says, "I’m right, and you’re wrong." Humility says, "How can I serve you?"
Imagine what would happen in our city if every believer chose to walk in this kind of humility. We’ve seen how faith can change the atmosphere of a community, like we discussed in our post about churches helping reduce crime. It starts with individual hearts deciding that Jesus is the King, and we are His servants.

Three Practical Steps for Today
If you want to practice humility today, here are three simple ways to start:
Listen More Than You Speak: In your next conversation, try to truly understand the other person before you jump in with your own opinion. Valuing others starts with listening to them.
Give Credit Away: If something goes well at work or at home, point out the contributions of others. Acknowledge that any strength you have comes from God’s grace.
Admit When You’re Wrong: This is the hardest one, right? But saying "I’m sorry, I messed up" is a powerful way to kill pride and invite God’s grace back into a situation.
Remember, God isn't looking for perfect people. He is looking for humble people. He can do a lot with a heart that is open and willing to say, "Not my will, but Yours be done."
A Global Family
We know that many of you reading this are in places where it’s hard to find a local church. Maybe you’re working the overnight shift, or maybe you’re in a part of the world where following Jesus is dangerous.
You are not alone. Boundless Online Church is a global family. We are here to walk with you. Humility connects us because it reminds us that we all need the same Savior. We all need the same "new mercies" every single morning. You can read more about that fresh start here.

Let’s Talk

Prayer
Lord, thank You for the example of Jesus. Thank You that You don't ask us to be perfect, but simply to be humble. Please forgive us for the times we’ve let pride take the driver's seat. Help us to see others the way You see them. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we can serve those around us with a joyful heart. We give You all the glory for anything good in our lives. Amen.
