What are the 16 Fundamental Truths? They are the core biblical principles that guide our faith, providing a solid foundation for every believer. From the inspiration of Scripture to the promise of Christ’s return, these truths act as a roadmap, helping us navigate our spiritual journey with clarity and confidence.
Bible Verses:
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” : 2 Timothy 3:16
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” : Matthew 28:19
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” : John 3:16
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” : Acts 1:8
I am so glad you are here. Whether you’ve been following Jesus for decades or you’re just starting to kick the tires on this whole "faith" thing, knowing what you believe: and why you believe it: changes everything. It’s like building a house; if the foundation is shaky, the rest of the building isn’t going to hold up when the storms roll in. In our community, we look to these 16 Fundamental Truths not as a list of "rules," but as a description of the reality we live in. They keep us centered. Truly, the Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails.
Let’s walk through these together. I want to break them down into bite-sized pieces so you can see how they apply to your life right now, in the middle of whatever you’re walking through.
The Foundation: Scripture and the Nature of God
The first four truths are all about the "Who" and the "How." First, we believe the **Scriptures are Inspired**. The Bible isn’t just a collection of ancient stories; it’s God’s actual word to us. It is the final authority. When life gets confusing, I go back to the Book. It’s our North Star.
Next, we believe in **The One True God**. He has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM." We see Him as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is the Trinity: one God, three persons. It’s a mystery, for sure, but it’s a beautiful one that shows us God is inherently relational. He’s not a distant force; He’s a Father.
Then we look at **The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ**. Jesus wasn’t just a "good teacher" or a social revolutionary. He is fully God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead. That resurrection is the pivot point of human history.
Finally, we have to talk about **The Fall of Man**. We were created good and upright, but we chose to go our own way. That choice brought sin and death into the world. Acknowledging the Fall isn't about being "negative": it’s about being honest about why the world is broken and why we need a Savior.

The Experience: Grace, Spirit, and Growth
This is where it gets personal. Truth five is **The Salvation of Man**. This is the best news ever: through the shed blood of Jesus, we can be restored to God. It’s a gift of grace through faith. You can’t earn it, you can’t buy it, and you certainly don’t deserve it. You just receive it.
How do we know it’s real? We look at **The Evidences of Salvation**. There’s an internal witness: that "peace that passes understanding" in your soul: and there’s an outward witness: a life that begins to look more like Jesus. We also practice **The Ordinances** of the Church: Water Baptism (symbolizing our death to sin) and Holy Communion (remembering what Jesus did for us). These are physical ways we connect with spiritual realities.
One of the most distinct parts of our faith is **The Baptism in the Holy Spirit**. Jesus promised we wouldn’t be left alone. This experience, which is distinct from salvation, provides us with power for life and service. It often comes with the initial physical sign of speaking in other tongues, but the real fruit is a life empowered to share the Gospel.
This leads us to **Sanctification**. It’s a fancy word for "becoming holy." It’s an act of separation from what is evil and a dedication to God. It’s a daily process of letting God’s Spirit change our hearts and our habits.

The Mission: The Church and Healing
We aren't meant to do this alone. **The Church and its Mission** is about us: the body of Christ. Our job is to be the agency of God for evangelizing the world, to be a corporate body where we worship God, and to be a channel of God’s purpose to build a body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son. We also value **The Ministry**, recognizing that God calls specific people to lead, teach, and serve the body to keep us moving forward.
And let’s not forget **Divine Healing**. We believe that deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers. God still heals today. Whether it’s through a miracle or through the wisdom of doctors He’s gifted, we believe God cares about our physical well-being.
Speaking of well-being, I want to mention how we live our lives in the digital age. As we grow in faith, we want to be careful about what we let into our minds. When you’re looking for family entertainment, I highly recommend using VidAngel or “Enjoy Movies Your Way.” They allow you to filter out content that doesn’t align with your values. Also, for your digital safety and accountability, check out Bark and Covenant Eyes. Keeping our homes "spiritually clean" is a big part of walking out these truths daily.

The Future: Our Blessed Hope
The final four truths focus on where we are going. **The Blessed Hope** is the resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord. In short: Jesus is coming back!
Following that, we look forward to Christ’s Millennial Reign. This is the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on earth for one thousand years. It’s a time of universal peace. After this comes The Final Judgment, where everyone will give an account. It’s a sobering truth, but for those in Christ, it’s a day of vindication.
Finally, we look forward to The Creation of New Heavens and a New Earth
We’re not just going to "float on clouds." God is going to make all things new. A world without pain, without tears, and without sin. That is the finish line we are all running toward.
Navigating these 16 truths might feel like a lot to take in at once, but remember: these aren't just dry doctrines. They are the heartbeat of our relationship with God. When the world tries to tell you that there is no absolute truth, or that you have to figure it all out on your own, remember that the Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails that keep us safe and headed in the right direction.
I want you to know that you are never forgotten, you are never alone, and you are deeply loved by God. He has provided everything you need to grow in your faith through His Word and His Spirit. Let’s keep pressing in together.
A Prayer for You:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the person reading this right now. I pray that these truths would move from their head to their heart. Give them a hunger for Your Word and a deep desire to know You more. If they are facing a storm, let these foundational truths be the rock they stand on. Fill them with Your Spirit and guide them into all truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
