The 16 Fundamental Truths are the core biblical beliefs of the Assemblies of God, providing a unified foundation for faith and practice. These doctrines anchor our understanding of God’s Word, the nature of Jesus Christ, and the work of the Holy Spirit, drawing us into a deeper, life-transforming relationship with our Savior.
Whether you are part of our Assemblies of God Memphis community or joining us from across the globe, understanding what we believe is the first step toward a more confident walk with God. At Boundless Online Church, we believe that doctrine isn't just for scholars; it is the map that helps every believer find their way home to the heart of the Father.
The Foundation: God’s Word and His Nature
Everything starts with the Word. The first of our 16 Fundamental Truths is that the Scriptures are inspired by God. The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. It isn't just a historical document; it is a living revelation that speaks into your life today. When you open your Bible, you aren't just reading words on a page: you are hearing the voice of your Creator.

Following this is our belief in the One True God, eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This Trinitarian nature shows us that God is, at His very core, a God of relationship and community. He has always existed in perfect love, and He invites you into that love.
We also affirm the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is fully God and fully man. Through His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and substitutionary death on the cross, He bridged the gap that sin created. His bodily resurrection is our proof that death has been defeated, and His exaltation to the right hand of God ensures that we have a constant Advocate.
The Problem and the Provision: Fall and Salvation
To understand the beauty of the Gospel, we must acknowledge the reality of the Fall of Man. Humanity was created good and upright, but through voluntary transgression, we fell into sin. This brought both physical and spiritual death into the world. It’s why we feel that "aching" for something more: we were made for a perfection that was lost.
But God didn't leave us there. Truth number five is the Salvation of Man. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a gift of grace, not something we can earn. When you accept this gift, you are justified, born again, and your life begins a new trajectory toward wholeness. This is why a "16 Fundamental Truths Bible Study" is so vital: it reminds us of the depth of God's rescue mission.
We celebrate this new life through the Ordinances of the Church: Water Baptism and Holy Communion. Baptism is a public declaration of our internal change: symbolizing that we have died to our old selves and been raised with Christ. Communion is a frequent, sacred reminder of His sacrifice, keeping our hearts tethered to the cross.
The Empowerment: The Holy Spirit and Sanctification
One of the distinctives of our faith is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. This is an experience distinct from and following the new birth. It is a gift of empowerment for life and service. In the book of Acts, we see the early church transformed from fearful followers into bold witnesses through this baptism.

We believe in the Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, which is speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. This isn't about a spiritual status symbol; it’s about a deeper intimacy and a dynamic power for reaching the world with the love of Jesus.
This power leads us into Sanctification. This is both a definite act at salvation and a progressive, lifelong process. As we draw closer to God, we separate ourselves from things that harm our spirit and dedicate ourselves to His purposes. It is the Holy Spirit who does this work in us, refining our character to look more like Jesus every day.
The Purpose: The Church and the Ministry
The Church is not a building; it is the Body of Christ. Whether you are searching for a "church near me" or connecting through our digital campus, you are part of a global mission. The Church’s purpose is to worship God, build up believers, and seek and save the lost. This mission is why we are so passionate about our work in the 901 and beyond.

To lead this mission, God has provided a divinely called and scripturally ordained Ministry. Leaders are called to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. Every believer has a role to play, and our leadership exists to help you discover and flourish in yours.
We also believe in Divine Healing. It is a provision of the atonement and a privilege for all believers today. We pray for the sick with confidence, knowing that God is our Healer, while also thanking Him for the wisdom He gives to medical professionals.
The Future: Our Blessed Hope and Eternity
As we look toward the horizon, we hold onto the Blessed Hope: the resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord. This isn't a "scary" end-times theory; it is the ultimate promise of reunion and restoration.
Following this, we look forward to the Millennial Reign of Christ, a literal thousand-year period of peace on earth. While there will be a Final Judgment for those who have rejected God’s grace, the story of the Bible ends in a place of absolute beauty: the New Heavens and the New Earth.

In this new creation, righteousness dwells, and we will live in the presence of God forever. No more tears, no more pain, and no more separation. This is the goal of our faith and the reason we share the Gospel with such urgency and love.
Lord Jesus, we thank You for the truth of Your Word. We thank You that our faith isn't built on shifting sands but on the solid rock of these biblical foundations. We ask that You would open our hearts as we study these truths. Let them not just be head knowledge, but life-changing revelations that draw us closer to You. Help us to live out these beliefs with grace, power, and love, so that the world might see You through us. Amen.
