A Message from FA Memphis
Life moves fast. Whether you are a corporate professional juggling back-to-back meetings, a nurse finishing a grueling twelve-hour shift, or a caregiver providing around-the-clock love to a family member, your "free time" probably feels like a myth.
We get it. At Boundless Online Church, we help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online, specifically because we know that the traditional 9-to-5 life isn't everyone’s reality.
You want to grow spiritually. You want to dive into the Word. But sitting down for an hour with a physical Bible and a stack of highlighters might feel impossible right now. This is where Bible study podcasts become a literal godsend. They turn your commute, your laundry folding, or your late-night hospital rounds into a sanctuary.
But before you hit "subscribe" on the first ten shows you see, there is one thing you must do first to ensure you actually grow rather than just adding more noise to your day.
The "Do This First" Step: Identify Your Hunger
The biggest mistake most people make when starting with spiritual podcasts is "browsing burnout." You scroll through hundreds of titles, listen to five minutes of three different shows, and end up feeling more overwhelmed than when you started.
To grow on the go, you have to identify your specific spiritual hunger right now.
In the Assemblies of God tradition, we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God: our "all-sufficient rule for faith and practice." Because the Word is so deep, you can’t drink the whole ocean at once. You need to pick a lane.
Ask yourself:
Are you a beginner? Do you need the "Milk of the Word": the foundational stories and truths about who Jesus is?
Are you looking for a habit? Do you want to go through the entire Bible in a year, one bite-sized piece at a time?
Are you looking for depth? Do you have a specific book of the Bible (like Romans or Psalms) that you want to dismantle verse-by-verse?
Identifying your goal before you open your podcast app is the secret to consistency.

Categorizing Your Growth
Once you know your hunger, you can choose a podcast format that fits your life. Here is a quick breakdown of how to match a podcast to your current season.
1. For the "Cover-to-Cover" Journey
If you feel like your knowledge of the Bible is "patchy": you know Noah and Jesus, but you’re lost everywhere else: a chronological or daily reading podcast is for you.
Shows like "The Bible in a Year" or "Daily Bible" provide a structured plan. These are perfect for shift workers because they are usually consistent in length (about 15–20 minutes). You know exactly how much of your commute it will cover. This builds a sustainable routine for spiritual growth, which is one of our core values here at Boundless Online Church.
2. For the New Believer (Foundational Truths)
If you are just starting your walk with Christ, look for podcasts that focus on "Christianity for Beginners." These shows explain the why behind what we believe. They tackle the big questions: Who is the Holy Spirit? What is salvation? Why does the Bible matter?
We believe in the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God, and finding a podcast that aligns with sound doctrine ensures you are building your house on a rock, not on shifting sands.
3. For the Deep Diver (Expository Study)
If you’ve been in church for years but feel like you’re hitting a plateau, you need "Verse-by-Verse" podcasts. These are often recordings of deep-teaching pastors or theologians who spend 30 minutes on just three or four verses. This is "meat" for your soul. It’s perfect for those long Sunday afternoon drives or when you finally have a quiet hour after the kids are in bed.

Practical Tech Tips for Busy Professionals and Caregivers
Since we are a digital-first ministry, we love using technology to bridge the gap between us and God. However, technology should be a tool, not a distraction. Here is some practical guidance for managing your "Grow on the Go" experience:
1. Choose Your Platform Wisely Most podcasts are on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube. If you are a busy professional, you likely already have one of these. Stick to what you know. Don’t download a new app just for one show; keep your digital life simple.
2. Use the "Download" Feature For our friends in transit or those working in hospital wings with spotty Wi-Fi, always download your episodes while you are on home Wi-Fi. This ensures your study isn't interrupted by a buffering wheel right when the teaching gets good.
3. Safety First If you are listening while driving or working manual labor, use voice commands. "Siri, play my Bible podcast" is much safer than scrolling while in traffic. We want you to grow in faith, but we also want you to stay safe!
4. The 1.5x Speed Hack If you are a shift worker with very limited break time, many podcast apps allow you to speed up the audio slightly. Listening at 1.2x or 1.5x speed can help you finish a 30-minute teaching in 20 minutes without losing the meaning.

Aligning with Sound Doctrine
As you explore the world of podcasts, remember that not everything labeled "Christian" aligns with the Bible. At Boundless Online Church, we emphasize the importance of Biblical authority.
When you listen, ask yourself:
Does this point me back to Jesus?
Is this grounded in Scripture, or is it just the host’s opinion?
Does it encourage me to live a holy, Spirit-empowered life?
Our mission is to help you grow in faith online, but that growth must be rooted in truth. If a podcast ever makes you feel confused or contradicts the clear teaching of the Bible, it might be time to hit "unsubscribe" and find a teacher who honors the Word.
Making it Stick: The "One-Thing" Rule
Listening is great, but application is where the transformation happens. Because you are busy, don't try to memorize the whole episode.
Try the One-Thing Rule: Every time you finish an episode, identify one thing you can pray about or do differently that day.
Maybe it’s a verse to repeat during a stressful meeting.
Maybe it’s a reminder that God is with you during a lonely night shift.
Maybe it’s a call to forgive a coworker.
One small step taken in faith is better than a thousand miles of "information" that never reaches your heart.

We are Here to Walk With You
We know that life can be overwhelming. The demands of your job, your family, and your health can make you feel like you’re running on empty. But you don't have to grow alone.
Bible study podcasts are a fantastic "on-the-go" resource, but they are even better when paired with a community that cares about you. Whether you are listening to a teaching at 3:00 AM or 3:00 PM, know that your church family at Boundless is cheering you on.
If you are looking for more structured ways to grow, check out our Online Programs or join one of our Digital Challenges. We’ve designed these specifically for people whose schedules don't fit the "standard" mold.
A Short Prayer for Your Journey
Lord, I thank You for the technology that allows us to carry Your Word in our pockets. I pray for the person reading this: the one who is tired, busy, or stressed. As they listen to your Word on the go, let your Spirit speak peace into their heart. Open their ears to hear exactly what they need for today. Help them to not just be listeners of the Word, but doers also. Amen.
If you found a podcast that really helped you understand a specific part of the Bible, we’d love to hear about it! Sharing resources is how we grow together as a global family.
