Boundless Daily: Global Micro-Study - Day 13: The Power Within

Welcome back to Day 13 of our Global Micro-Study.

If you’ve been following along, you know we are journeying through the heart of what we believe. We are looking at the foundational truths that shape our walk with Jesus.

Today, we’re talking about something life-changing.

It’s about power.

Not the kind of power that comes from a position or a bank account. We are talking about the "Power Within."

If you are feeling exhausted, overlooked, or like you’re running on empty, this study is exactly for you.

The Promise of the Father

In the book of Acts, just before Jesus ascended into heaven, He left His followers with a specific instruction. He told them to wait.

He didn’t tell them to go out and start a marketing campaign. He didn’t tell them to go find the best building or write a manual. He told them to wait for the "Promise of the Father."

Let’s look at Acts 1:8:

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Think about that for a second.

Jesus knew that living for Him and sharing His message would be impossible in our own strength. He knew we would get tired. He knew we would face opposition.

So, He promised us power.

What is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit?

At Boundless Online Church, we hold to the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God. Truth #7 focuses on the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

This isn’t just a "nice to have" experience. It is a vital part of the believer's life.

According to this truth, all believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church.

With it comes the enduement of power for life and service.

It’s important to understand that this gift follows salvation. When you put your faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside you. But the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an additional "overflowing." It’s like a cup that is full, and then starts to run over.

It is a gift given to empower us.

Why Do We Need This Power?

The word used for power in the original Greek is dunamis. It’s where we get the word "dynamite."

It’s an active, working power.

We need this power for several reasons:

  1. To Live Holy: Let’s be honest, living a life that honors God is hard in a world that pulls us in every other direction. The Holy Spirit gives us the "want-to" and the "how-to" to live for Jesus.

  2. To Serve Others: Whether you are helping a neighbor or volunteering in a ministry, the Spirit gives you the stamina and the heart to serve without burning out.

  3. To Witness: Acts 1:8 says this power makes us "witnesses." It gives us the boldness to share our story and the love of Jesus with others, even when we feel shy or unqualified.

For the Shift Worker and the Caregiver

We know that many of you reading this are in the middle of a long shift.

Maybe it’s 2:00 AM in a warehouse. Maybe you’re in a quiet hospital hallway.

Perhaps you are a caregiver, and you’ve spent the last twelve hours making sure someone else is comfortable, while your own needs are pushed to the side.

You might feel like you have nothing left to give.

The promise of Acts 1:8 is for you.

You don't have to carry the load alone. You have access to supernatural strength. This "power within" isn't just for people standing on a stage behind a pulpit. It is for the person standing at a kitchen sink or sitting at a desk.

When your physical energy is gone, the Holy Spirit can provide a deep, inner peace and a second wind that doesn't come from a caffeine boost.

For the Disabled and the Persecuted

To our friends who are housebound or living with disabilities: your impact is not limited by your physical location.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, your prayers carry weight. Your life is a witness. The Spirit can use you to reach people across the world through the internet or through the people who visit you.

To those in persecuted areas, where following Jesus could cost you everything: we see you.

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter. In the moments of greatest fear, He provides a courage that defies logic. He gives words to speak when you don't know what to say.

The "Power Within" is stronger than any pressure from the outside.

How Do You Receive This Gift?

The beauty of God’s gifts is that they are exactly that, gifts. You don't earn them. You don't "level up" enough to deserve them.

You simply ask.

If you are a follower of Jesus, you can ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit. You can ask for that "power from on high" to help you in your daily life.

But maybe you’re reading this and you don’t know Jesus yet.

The first step is entering into a relationship with Him. Jesus loves you exactly as you are. He came to this earth, lived a perfect life, died on a cross for our mistakes, and rose again so that we could have a fresh start.

When you say "yes" to Jesus, you aren't just joining a religion. You are coming home to the Father who created you.

Walking in Power Every Day

Once you receive this power, what do you do with it?

You use it to love people.

The Holy Spirit helps us produce "fruit", things like love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness. These aren't just nice traits; they are the evidence of the Power Within working in your life.

When you are patient with a difficult coworker, that’s the power of the Spirit. When you find peace in the middle of a health crisis, that’s the power of the Spirit.

We invite you to join the conversation in our Bible Study Club and share how God is working in your life.

You Are Not Alone

Life can feel like a heavy mountain to climb. But you were never meant to climb it in your own strength.

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to live inside of you.

Whether you are working a late shift, caring for a loved one, or simply trying to make it through the day, remember that you have an Advocate. You have a Helper. You have the Holy Spirit.

Take a moment right now, wherever you are. Take a deep breath.

Ask God to fill you afresh today.

Ask Him for the power to handle the next hour, the next task, and the next conversation.

He is faithful to His promise.
