Hey there. If you’re reading this in the middle of a double shift, sitting in a dim hospital room while a loved one sleeps, or checking your phone in a place where following Jesus has to stay under the radar, I am so glad you found us.
Welcome to Day 16 of our Global Micro-Study.
We’ve been journeying through the core foundations of our faith, and today we reach a topic that feels like a deep, refreshing breath of air after a long run. We are talking about the Assemblies of God Fundamental Truth #16: The New Heavens and the New Earth.
When the world feels heavy, when your back aches from hours of caregiving, or when the isolation of your "quiet hours" starts to feel more like a prison than a sanctuary, this is the truth that gives us a second wind.
Let’s dive into what God has promised for our future.
The Hope of Restoration
We live in a world that is clearly "broken." You don't need a theology degree to see that. You see it in the fatigue of your coworkers, the headlines on your newsfeed, and the physical limitations of your own body.
But Fundamental Truth #16 tells us that this isn't the end of the story.
According to 2 Peter 3:13 and Revelation chapters 21 and 22, God has promised a "new heavens and a new earth." This isn't just a "spiritual" cloud where we sit around playing harps. This is a physical, tangible, and perfect restoration of everything that was lost in the Garden of Eden.

In this new reality, the environment is perfectly restored. Imagine a landscape more vibrant and beautiful than the most untouched corner of the earth today. The Bible describes a radiant city of light, the New Jerusalem, where the glory of God provides all the light we need. There is a peaceful river, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God, and the tree of life stands there, offering healing to the nations.
For those who spend their days (or nights) in sterile environments, surrounded by the hum of machines or the gray concrete of a city, this promise of a beautiful, restored creation is a powerful anchor for the soul.
The Gospel: The Only Way Home
Before we get too deep into the beauty of the New Earth, we have to talk about how we get there. This isn't a reward for being "good enough." It isn't a destination we reach by working harder or doing more shifts.
The New Heavens and the New Earth are only accessible through one person: Jesus Christ.
The Bible is clear that our sin, the things we do, say, and think that fall short of God’s perfection, separates us from Him. Because God is holy, He cannot simply ignore sin. But because He loves us, He provided the solution.
Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross for our sins. He took the punishment we deserved. Three days later, He rose from the grave, defeating death once and for all.
Jesus is the only way to the Father. He is the bridge between our broken world and the eternal home He is preparing for us. When we put our trust in Him, our "citizenship" changes. We no longer belong solely to this world; we become residents of the kingdom to come.
No More Pain, No More Tears
If you are a caregiver or a shift worker, you are likely very familiar with "the grind." You deal with the physical toll of labor and the emotional toll of seeing people suffer.
The promise of the New Heavens and the New Earth is specifically for you.
Revelation 21:4 says: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
Think about that for a second. No more chronic pain. No more cancer. No more dementia. No more exhaustion.

For our friends in the disabled community, this is the ultimate promise of restoration. In the New Earth, every body is made whole. The limitations that define your daily life here will be gone forever. You will walk, run, and dance in the presence of the King.
For those in persecuted areas, where following Jesus means living in fear, the New Earth is a place of absolute safety. There will be no more hiding, no more threats, and no more "quiet hours" forced by the need for survival. You will walk openly with believers from every nation, tribe, and tongue.
Finding Hope in the "Quiet Hours"
There’s a specific kind of loneliness that comes with the late-night shift or the long hours of caregiving. While the rest of the world is asleep, you are awake, carrying the weight of your responsibilities. These are the "quiet hours."
Sometimes, in that silence, it’s easy for the enemy to whisper that you’ve been forgotten. It’s easy to feel like your life is just a cycle of work, sleep, and repeat.
But what if you viewed your "quiet hours" through the lens of eternity?
Fundamental Truth #16 reminds us that our current struggle is temporary. The fatigue you feel right now is not your permanent state. The isolation you experience is not your forever home.

When you feel that "second wind" of hope, it’s often the Holy Spirit reminding you that something better is coming. We aren't just waiting for the end of the shift; we are waiting for the dawn of a new eternity.
This perspective changes how we work. We don’t work as those without hope. We work as people who know that our labor in the Lord is never in vain and that a day of perfect rest is coming.
A Community Beyond Borders
At Boundless Online Church, we know that many of you cannot attend a physical church building. Maybe your work schedule doesn't allow it. Maybe your health keeps you home. Maybe it’s not safe for you to gather in public.
That’s why we are here. We believe the church isn't a building; it’s a body of believers connected by the Spirit of God.

In the New Heavens and the New Earth, our community will be fully realized. We won’t be separated by screens, time zones, or physical barriers. We will be together.
Until then, we invite you to stay plugged into this community. We are here to walk with you through the "quiet hours" and remind you of the hope we have in Jesus. You can learn more about who we are on our About Page.
Your Next Step
As we close out Day 16 of our study, I want to ask you: Where is your hope anchored?
If it’s anchored in your health, your job, or your circumstances, it will eventually falter because those things are part of the "old order" that is passing away. But if your hope is anchored in Jesus and the promise of His coming kingdom, you have a foundation that can never be shaken.
If you haven't made that decision to follow Jesus, today is the day. You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to turn to Him.
If you are already a believer, let this truth about the New Heavens and the New Earth be your "second wind" today. When your feet are tired and your heart is heavy, look up. Your King is coming, and He is making all things new.
