If you are reading this while the rest of the world is sleeping, or perhaps while you are taking a quick break during a long hospital shift, we want you to know that you are not alone. Whether you are sitting in a quiet room in a country where following Jesus is a risk, or you are just looking for a bit of hope before your day starts, this study is for you. Today, we are leaning into a promise that changes everything about how we live our lives. We are looking at the fact that we were never meant to represent Jesus on our own strength.
There is a specific kind of exhaustion that comes from trying to be a good person or a "good Christian" through sheer willpower. It feels like trying to run a marathon while holding your breath. But the Bible tells us a different story. It tells us about a gift that was promised by Jesus Himself. Before He returned to heaven, He told His followers to wait for a specific empowerment. He didn't want them to go out and tell the world about Him until they had the fuel they needed to finish the race.
This brings us to one of the core pillars of what we believe at Boundless Online Church. It is the seventh of the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God. This truth focuses on the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. While that might sound like a big, theological term, it is actually a very practical and beautiful promise. It means that the Holy Spirit is given to every believer to provide power for life and service. Most importantly, this gift is given to empower us to be witnesses.
When we talk about being a witness, we aren't just talking about standing on a street corner with a megaphone. For many of you, being a witness happens in the quiet conversations in a breakroom at 3:00 AM. It happens in the way you care for a patient who is having their worst day. It happens in the way you remain steadfast and kind even when you are being treated unfairly because of your faith. To do those things consistently, we need something more than just a good attitude. We need the supernatural boldness that only comes from the Spirit of God.

In the Book of Acts, we see this play out in the lives of the early disciples. Before they were filled with the Holy Spirit, they were often afraid. They hid in locked rooms. They second-guessed themselves. But after they received this power, everything changed. They spoke with a confidence that they didn't have before. This wasn't a confidence in their own speaking abilities or their own intelligence. It was a confidence in the message of the Gospel and the reality of the resurrected Jesus.
This same power is available to you today. If you feel like your light is flickering or if you feel intimidated by the environment you live in, remember that the Holy Spirit is called the Comforter and the Helper for a reason. He provides the words when you don't know what to say. He provides the courage when your knees are shaking. This is especially vital for our brothers and sisters in persecuted areas. When the world says to stay silent, the Holy Spirit provides the "calm power" to live out the truth of Jesus with grace and strength.
We often think of witnessing as something we "do," but the Bible presents it more as something we "are." Jesus said we would be His witnesses. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit enables this transformation. It produces fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness: that makes people stop and wonder why we are different. For the shift worker who is working double hours to provide for their family, that supernatural peace is a powerful witness. For the person living in a place where the Gospel is unreached, your transformed character is often the first "Bible" your neighbors will ever read.
If you have questions about how to experience this empowerment, you are not alone in your curiosity. Many people wonder if this gift is for them or if it was only for the people in the Bible. The truth is that this promise is for everyone who follows Jesus. It is a gift that is meant to be received, not earned. You don't have to be perfect to receive the power of the Spirit; you just have to be willing and open. It starts with a simple prayer, asking God to fill you and equip you for the work He has for you.
We encourage you to explore our groups if you want to talk more about this with others who are on the same journey. Sharing your faith can feel daunting if you feel like you are doing it in a vacuum. But when you realize that the Holy Spirit is the one doing the heavy lifting, the pressure falls off. You are simply the vessel. He is the power. He is the one who convicts hearts and opens eyes. Your job is simply to be available and to speak the truth in love when the opportunity arises.
As you go about your day: or your night: take a moment to lean into this reality. You have access to the same power that raised Christ from the dead. That power isn't just for big miracles; it's for the daily miracle of living a life that points people to Jesus. It’s for the strength to forgive someone who doesn't deserve it. It’s for the boldness to offer prayer to a coworker who is hurting. It’s for the endurance to keep going when you feel like you have nothing left to give.
If you have never made the decision to follow Jesus, we want to invite you to do that right now. The power we are talking about starts with a relationship with Him. Jesus loves you more than you can imagine, and He gave His life so that you could be reconciled to God. Following Him is the greatest adventure you will ever go on. It doesn't mean life will be easy, but it means you will never be alone. You will have a purpose that goes beyond just getting through the week. You will have a hope that the world cannot take away.
We are here to walk with you through these big questions. Whether you are reaching out from a bustling city or a remote village, the message remains the same: the Holy Spirit is ready to empower you. He wants to use your unique life, your unique voice, and even your unique struggles to show the world who Jesus is. Don't be afraid to ask for more of His presence in your life today.
