Hey there. We are so glad you’ve joined us for Day 28 of our Global Micro-Study. Whether you are reading this on a quick break during a double shift, sitting in a quiet room while a loved one rests, or checking in from a place where following Jesus isn't always easy or safe: you are welcome here.
Today, we are diving into a topic that is close to the heart of everything we do here at Boundless Online Church. We’re talking about The Church and Its Mission.
In the Assemblies of God, this is our 10th Fundamental Truth. It’s not just about a building with a steeple or a social club. It’s about a living, breathing body of people with a very specific purpose on this earth.
If you’ve ever felt like you don’t "fit" in a traditional church because of your schedule, your health, or your location, this study is for you. You are part of the mission.
What Is "The Church"?
Before we look at the mission, we have to understand what the "Church" actually is. In the Bible, the word often used is ekklesia, which basically means "the called-out ones."
The Church isn't a place you go; it’s a people you belong to. It is the "Body of Christ." Think about that for a second. Jesus isn't physically walking the dusty roads of Galilee anymore, but He is still active in the world through us.
Because the Church is the Body of Christ, it is the habitation of God through the Spirit. This means God dwells within the collective group of believers. This is why we say church is "boundless." God isn't trapped in a sanctuary on a street corner. He is with you in the warehouse, in the hospital, and in your living room.

The Three-Fold Mission
According to our shared faith and scriptural understanding, the Church has a three-fold mission. These three things are the "why" behind everything we do.
1. To Be an Agency of God for Evangelizing the World
The first part of the mission is simple but massive: Share the Good News.
Jesus gave us what we call the Great Commission. He told His followers to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to everyone. This isn't just a suggestion for "super-Christians" or professional missionaries. It’s a calling for all of us.
For a shift worker or a caregiver, evangelism might look a little different. It might be the way you show kindness to a difficult coworker at 2:00 AM. It might be the way you offer a word of hope to someone else in a waiting room.
The goal is to help people meet Jesus. We want everyone to know that there is forgiveness, hope, and a new life available through Christ. In a world that can feel very dark and lonely, the Church is meant to be the light that points the way home.
2. To Be a Corporate Body in Which Man May Worship God
The second part of the mission is worship.
We were created to worship God. When we come together: whether that’s 2,000 people in a room or a few hundred of us joining a Live Worship stream: something powerful happens.
Worship isn't just about singing songs. It’s about acknowledging who God is. It’s about giving Him the honor He deserves. When the Church gathers to worship, we are fulfilling one of our primary reasons for existing.
For those who are homebound or isolated, online worship isn't a "backup" plan. It is a vital way to participate in this corporate mission. When you lift your heart to God from your bedside or your desk, you are joining a global chorus that has been singing for two thousand years.

3. To Be a Channel of God’s Purpose to Build a Body of Saints
The third part of the mission is about growth. We don't just want people to "sign up" for Christianity; we want to help them grow into the image of Jesus.
The Bible says that God gave the Church leaders: pastors, teachers, and others: to equip the "saints" (that’s you!) for the work of ministry. The goal is "edification." That’s a fancy word that just means "building up."
We are meant to help each other grow. We study the Word together, we pray for one another, and we encourage each other to keep going. We are being "perfected in the image of His Son." This is a lifelong process of becoming more like Jesus in how we think, speak, and act.
The Church for the "In-Between" Moments
If you are a caregiver or someone dealing with a disability, you might wonder how you fit into this mission. Sometimes, the traditional "Sunday morning at 10 AM" model doesn't work for your life.
That’s why Boundless Online Church exists. We believe the mission of the Church shouldn't be limited by physical walls or rigid schedules.
You can evangelize by sharing these posts or talking about your faith in online communities.
You can worship whenever you have a moment of peace, using technology to connect with the larger Body.
You can be built up through digital Bible studies and resources that meet you where you are.
The mission doesn't stop because you can't make it to a physical building. In fact, for many people in unsafe or persecuted areas, the "online" or "secret" gathering is the only way the mission moves forward. You are part of a global movement that is far bigger than any single location.

Why the Mission Matters Right Now
The world is hurting. People are searching for meaning, for peace, and for a sense of belonging. The Church is God’s chosen vehicle to provide those things through the power of the Holy Spirit.
When we evangelize, we offer hope to the hopeless.
When we worship, we shift our focus from our problems to our Provider.
When we build each other up, we create a community that can withstand any storm.
As we move toward the return of Christ, this mission becomes even more urgent. We want to reach as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. We want to ensure that everyone, regardless of their physical or social situation, has the chance to hear the Gospel and grow in their faith.
Next Steps for You
How can you participate in the mission of the Church today?
Pray for the Lost: Take five minutes today to pray for someone you know who hasn't met Jesus yet.
Join the Gathering: If you are able, join us for an upcoming service. We have a live worship opportunity coming up soon that we would love for you to be a part of.
Encourage Someone: Reach out to a fellow believer who might be struggling. A simple text can be a way of "building up the body."
The Church is beautiful because it is diverse. It includes people from every nation, every background, and every walk of life. It includes you.
Do you have questions about how the Church works or what your role might be? We’d love to chat with you. There are no "silly" questions here. We are all learning together.

We are honored to be on this journey with you. Remember, you aren't just watching a ministry: you are the ministry. You are the hands and feet of Jesus wherever you are right now.
Keep shining your light. The mission is big, but our God is bigger.
Boundless Online Church is a ministry of FA Memphis.
